Defeat The Godmodder

Negotiations - II
"OBJECTION!"

Just as suddenly as the quest starts, I slam into the ground near Joebob. Simply a matter of serious blunt force trauma knocking me out cold and the magical energy of all three CP I have, but I couldn't let this deal stand! This seems a little too convenient for a side quest.

As I pop up off the ground, I yell out "Joe, you sure you can trust this guy? Isn't this world a little out of place given how it was mentioned long ago we could only enter afterlifes in the Hexagonafield? Besides..."

I point to the pink haze, and yell out. "The one time I tried to get to the Dreamlands, I ended up in the Underworld, and I made a deal just like this! You're not really Morpheus, ARE YOU?!"

Morpheus: ...A fair query. But, I shall prove my authenticity to you.

Morpheus closes his eyes for a moment - he seems to concentrate a little more than before, though he's still quite relaxed.

Morpheus: Using the power of dreams, I can see into the minds of many... it's an absolutely excellent tool for gathering knowledge.

Morpheus: I have examined Players before - their dreams tend to be the most interesting (and prophetic). At least, when they sleep. They usually don't bother.

Morpheus: Now, from what I can tell... sidequests generally take Players not necessarily where they say they want to go... but rather where they need to go.

Morpheus: Examining your own thoughts, the reason you left for the Dreamlands (here) is to get a Legendary Weapon.

Morpheus: However, there are no Legendary Weapons here (well, now there are). So, instead you ended up in Hell, where you could get Legendary Weapons.

Morpheus: Now, JOEbob wants to give me Legendary Weapons, which he can do here. So, he arrived here.

I first place mascythe in the container, and hold the infinileaf clover instead. its powers have the capacity to prove useful to the following.
I don't trust this 'morpheus'. I've been making deals with 'the god of dreams'. that's both his name and title, and as with autochittonface of moogoescow's, it's not some other guy of your design far as i'm aware. he says its excellent to meet me, but I've interacted with the god of dreams a few times, like when we where setting up our deal... And this... place... doesn't look like where I met him before. I'm not sure this is even the dreamworld! last I was here, the dreamworld wasn't fluffy pink clouds, it was whatever my dream was prior to realizing it was a dream, but frozen... ah right, dreaming of my real life house. anyway, this place doesn't look like my real life house. Something's up.
If the soulrazer's intact enough to stop me, but isn't, this must be something the Godmodder wants. I assumed that with the explosions I'd be fine, but the narration suggests otherwise...
Now, I've always been a fan of two things: using DnD magic where it doesn't belong, and extremely precise boring long magically binding contracts! now, I can't use DnD magic (blame the godmodder), so I'll replace it with pathfinder... which is almost the same as DnD, but not.
So first, I summon snillocs snowball, close my eyes, spin around, and throw it targetting the God of Dreams. Snillocs snowball unerringly hits its target, so if the person I'm talking to now is the god of dreams, it will slap them in the face. if it does, I quickly apologize.
Secondly, I lay out a contract (which I conjure from nothing because dream logic).
(summarized: I'll give the god of dreams the weapons i've got if he fulfils my conditions)
JOEbob agrees that the weapons they have brought are part of the set of seven legendary weapons, which the Godmodder struggles to acquire, and are nigh-indestructible, but with phenomenal powers, specifically I hold the infinileaf clover and Insofar as I am aware it is the real one, as opposed to any form of fake, and the same I hold for the Mascythe. assuming all conditions below are met, I will grant them to the other signatory of this contract with no attempts at trickery.
Conditions for the other Signatory.
If Morpheus is the God of Dreams with which JOE has previously conversed And plans to keep these weapons within their use for a time period equal to or exceeding 50 turns and this is the truth insofar as they are aware, to the best of their judgement, And they do not plan to travel to the Hexagonafield for any purpose beyond aiding JOEbob, they have no plots which would conspire before JOE's demise should he have one and which would aid the Godmodder, Nor do they plan to pawn off these weapons to the highest bidder, or any other person who may aid the godmodder, then they shall receive the weapons.
(^ summary: if he not lying about his identity and plans to use the weapons in a way that will not affect the hexagonafield)
Having received the weapons, The Signatory will provide JOEbob with significant aid, possibly their full power, for his exploits where the Signatory's powers reach. If the Signatory in the future breaks the condition of 'keeping the weapons for 50 turns', then they owe JOEbob an additional 1 CP of support, regardless of the method of procurement. If JOEbob does not call upon the Signatory's aid for a time, then the Signatory is to provide increased aid when called upon proportional to the time spent not being called upon.
(^summary: God of dreams will give me the aid they said they will.)
This is an enchanted contract so he will has to do the things... and if there's trickery involved, he won't be able to sign the contract... in order for the contract to bind me or him to provide one another with services, as opposed to just to ensure they are valid for the contract, it will need a second signature, just in case. I provide the first signature already, naturally, but not the second.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Alice: I'm cutting you off here. I appreciate your Boost Stones, but I'd rather not continue with this. You're a neutral Player, clearly out for yourself.

Alice: You've been amicable enough, so don't attack us AGs, and you'll get that reward as you deserve.

Alice: I don't want to be in any more debt with these Boost Stones. I'll use the one you've given me but no more after that. No more!

Alice: Also, if I can control the Deaththief... I'm controlling them to ME! That thing is way too strong to give to some random neutral! (...No offense.)"
You're not in debt, unless your referring to storing charges for future actions. I'm out for my survival, and that of my entitys. as for the deaththief, how about a compromise? If you control it using actions that are for me to control due to booststone, I get to decide its first action, and then one action every 4 rounds afterwards, or something along those lines. I've only got one entity I Really want to resurrect anyway. the rest are secondary.
Besides which, if you can't control the deaththief within 3 to 5 rounds, It's almost definitely going to be on my side anyway. maybe. i hope.
Regardless, even if you won't accept any more boost stones (which I think is irrational. I get something useful that probably won't even affect you, You get an extra action, and you already get to reject actions that are bad for the AGs. it's a win-win.), do create the drone I asked for with the 1/1 charge. do it this round. I can promise it will not be a negative for the [AG] side, bar Godmodder hacking.
...I can only think of one rational reason for you to refuse the deal I've offered.
and that...
Is if you're planning to betray the [AG] side for the Godmodder.
I can also think of an irrational reason for you to refuse it- moniker doesn't want me to get stuff- but that one's not worth arguing about.
-------------------------------------------
Also, while the internal tunnels we fought in where destroyed...
There are logically thousands of tunnels we never visited. tunnels on the other side of the ship, tunnels containing more energy crystals, tunnels with structural support, and even just tunnels which somehow didn't get damaged. any tunnels containing a power source have to be intact. the soulrazer's weapons are still going, after all. and the power sources would have guards. logically speaking, there is no way for the soulrazer to now be entirely empty of generators, troops, and useful things.

Morpheus: JOEbob, please don't misunderstand. The first time we met, I hid my true identity and realm from you, because I didn't wholly trust you at the time - now I trust you more (and also you have stuff I really need)

Morpheus: I'm the same God of Dreams you've been talking to the whole time.

God of Dreams: (See, look, I can talk like this to prove it)

It's the same voice you always heard when you talked to the God of Dreams. It would make sense that his name would be Morpheus - it's a classic Greek name.

You throw Snilloc's snowball. Morpheus gets slapped in the face.

Morpheus: Ow... (You always have to be sure, don't you?)

You give the contract to Morpheus, and he starts looking over it. He squints, finally sitting up a little... hmm...

Morpheus: ...I can't agree to this.

Morpheus: Besides, for all I know, a contract written by you could be you double-crossing me! (...Not that I don't trust you to keep your end of the bargain.)

Morpheus: But we don't need contracts, we've already been partners. You know I'll give you the aid just as I've promised, I just need those two weapons.

You can't talk to Alice! You're not even in the same plane of reality as her! ...Not mentally, anyway! Finish the sidequest first!

----------

You can still use the Infinileaf Clover, special container or no. That said, you can still feel the Mascythe stinging.

Negotiations - III
I know we're partners, but well...
I've got a set of rules I try to live by. Among them is make some form of Contract for any important agreement. I probably wouldn't require a contract if I'd managed to do this before the Soulrazer arrived, trusting you (almost?) fully, but...
Right now, the soulrazer is still there, and it has the power to keep me from coming here. It did so, last time I tried to come. what has changed since then?
Time has passed, one. the soulrazer has been damaged significantly, two. the soulrazer is yoreshielded, three. probably some other things, i forget.
the first should not have an effect, unless the Godmodder was taking the time to sabotage this plan, and so I am cautious.
the second may be the reason, but as I came here moniker took the moment to suggest that soulrazer should stop me... if the damage was the reason, he would not mention it, i feel.
The third is the most likely option, of those which leave this contract unnecessary.
So I have a simplified contract.
'JOE will give morpheus the legendary weapons 'infinileaf clover' and 'mascythe', on the condition that they do not intend to provide the Godmodder with those legendary weapons at any point in the near future where my soul is still around, if the godmodder gets the weapons through fault of morpheus, then morpheus will provide some form of compensation appropriate to the time taken and/or amount of fault, and the condition that morpheus provides the aid promised.'
((Naturally, I sign the contract myself immediately.))
The only way you can have an issue with this contract that I see, since it mentions no magnitude for the compensations (which might make the risk untenable) and has no unnecessary elements, is if you intend to give the Godmodder the weapons, or you do not intend to provide the aid you have promised.
If it is a trick of wording, ignore it. this paper is by Intent, not strict textual reading. If, however, The Intent of these requirements renders you unable...
Well, that suggests you have been subverted, or are not who you claim, does it not? I have run a test, true... but the Godmodder has his allies, and is strong; he might have planned for it.
And so, If Morpheus refuses to sign the contract, due to the Intent of the words, I quickly leave, and promise to return once the soulrazer is extinguished and I have a way to ensure his truthfulness (possibly by TOG completing the third eye, possibly a dream-duplicate of the somno energy, like dream-fake-starcalibur, whatever it may be).
If Morpheus signs this thus simplified contract, I apologize for doubting him, and do as I have said I will. I also note that if he wants, I can give him the container (though that will be on the condition that I can have it back if I need it), as a gesture of goodwill.
Regardless, I should be back on the battlefield next round. if I return with the weapons, I immediately return them to the safety of freds dimension.

Post scriptum: If I have missed a reason why the contract is unreasonable, then said reason is not in the intent, and can be ignored.

Morpheus once again takes your shortened contract and looks over it.

Eventually, he puts it down, and looks JOEbob in the eye.

Morpheus: ...I was hoping to avoid getting to the heart of the matter, but it looks like you aren't content to just hand them over and be done (its a pity).

Morpheus: I can't sign this contract, either. And I can tell you won't stop pressing until I tell you why (I have a confession...).

Morpheus: A while back (a LONG time ago), I was in a real jam. I put out a call for help, and the godmodder answered. I didn't have any choice, so I accepted his aid.

Morpheus: In exchange for receiving his help, I owe him a life-debt via a magically binding contract, quite similar to your contracts.

Morpheus: Essentially, I owe him my life to any task at any time (not very fair, but I had little choice).

Morpheus: The godmodder "generously" offered me another avenue of payment; legendary weapons.

Morpheus: Like the ones you hold now (he probably predicted this).

Morpheus: So, I'll say again... give me both of the Legendary Weapons, and you'll have everything I can possibly give you.

Morpheus: All the aid, up to (but not including) my own life, until the day you die.

Morpheus: But... I'll have to give the Legendary Weapons to the godmodder. Otherwise, he's liable to call in the debt that I owe him - most likely killing me (and leaving you with no aid)!

Morpheus sits back, and relaxes a bit... but he's much more tense than before.

Morpheus: I'm sorry to be dishonest. I imagined you would care less about the godmodder getting the weapons, being a neutral party in the war.

---------

Well, this has been illuminating. Again, it's time to make a choice. Are you doing this? Or refusing?

Negotiations - IV
I don't care much about him getting the weapons, true (though he did recently kill all my entitys, which as worsened my views on him, And he might kill me). but the AG people wouldn't be very happy with me for delivering them into the Godmodder's hands, and there's another problem, too. if you give him the clover, it is likely legendary weapons will become irretrievable from him.
I have a few compromise ideas.
One, you said earlier 'up to two' legendary weapons. Does that mean you owe him two weapons? if not, just give him mascythe. keep the clover for yourself, and, if I attack the Godmodder in the future, try to extend the clovers power to me- just for that instant- so I can win the steal roll, and retrieve mascythe.
Option Two: If you can delay giving him the second weapon, you can only give him mascythe, and then I can try to get it back from him, so you can give it to him again. there, 2 legendary weapons given, and no clover.
Option Three: this one, I feel, is more of a long-shot. under circumstances you probably saw...?, I altered the Godmodders beliefs, so he considers something of considerably less value then infinileaf and Mascythe, to be equivalent to them. hopefully. If that worked, then we can just... cheap out of one of the weapons.
Option four: if you place the legendary weapons somewhere where you can't access them quickly, then we might be able to kill the soulrazer first. then, the Godmodder will be yoreshielded, which will hopefully keep him from being a problem for long enough for use to find a more permanent solution.
Option five: If, like that dream-fake-starcalibur you made, you can create dream-duplicates of the resolute heart and infinileaf clover, then we can sidestep this whole issue by giving him the weapons, then using the two dream-duplicates to steal the weapons right back from him.
If none of these will work, then I defer to common vote. probably. I might change my mind. If any of them will work, I follow through on it one, with priority order being 3, 1, 2, 5, 4.

Also, Morpheus. do you have a way to preserve my life if the Godmodder manages to kill me within the Hexagonfield?

Morpheus: To one: I sincerely doubt the godmodder will accept less than two.

Morpheus: To two: The godmodder may just take the second weapon from me if we don't split them up properly... alternatively, (if he thinks I'm trying to double-cross him) he could just activate his side of the contract early on, and refuse the weapon entirely - and again, who knows what he'd order me to do (it would probably involve my death)?

Morpheus: To three: A very long shot indeed. (Too long.)

Morpheus: To four: The obvious permanent solution is to kill the godmodder, but... you said the godmodder knows you're here. He could very well be fully aware of this conversation (and preparing a counter to anything we plan).

Morpheus: To five: I could make the dream duplicates, but you'd be in charge of masking them (and preventing backlash when the godmodder most likely finds out they're fakes).

Morpheus: To the last, considering you're already dead? Probably not. Depends on the exact circumstances of death (if you're hit with your Soul Weakness, there's no chance).

Wait a second, a magically binding contract...?
"Could I... See this contract, perhaps?" I asked the dream god.

There's always a way out of these things. Whether it be a simple Pinky promise, to one written by God's own hand himself, there's always a slight weak point.

Morpheus: Sure. (Double-checking is warranted here, no?)

Morpheus waves his hands, and a large book appears from midair and drops to the ground in front of Morpheus.

Morpheus: This entire thing is the contract (only a copy of the original, of course). He had multiple lawyers of varying species and experience prep it. I'd suggest opening to page 603 (Summary, or "TL;DR").

You do so...

And so, upon the signing of this contract, Morpheus agrees to:
1: Become magically bound to the godmodder's will, even to the point of death; the godmodder cannot call in for the next 1,000 years Earth time.
2: When the godmodder has activated his magical binding of Morpheus's will, Morpheus will do whatever the godmodder commands him to. Any attempt to disobey the godmodder will result in immediate death.
3: Alternatively to the above two, offer an acceptable substitute, as determined by the godmodder. Substitutes may or may not include, and may or may not be limited to: An undefined number of Legendary Weapons, or the willing or unwilling transfer of the life-debt to another viable individual.

The godmodder agrees to:
1: Eliminate the threat to Morpheus's life to Morpheus's satisfaction; the threat shall not be named here for reasons of secrecy.
2: Do anything in his power to protect Morpheus from additional direct and absolute threats on his life; either resurgences of the original threat or new threats, for one year (355) days after this contract is signed.

Further details on all of these terms can be found expounded upon in the relevant sections of this contract.

It's dated a long time ago. More than 1,000 years ago, in fact.

Morpheus: Of course, he fulfilled his end as requested (but that was a long time ago).

Morpheus: Looking back, I should not have been so foolish as to kick the can down the road like this.

Hey, Morpheus, can you let me send a message to alice? great, thanks.
"Hey. Buddy. Chum. Pal. Friend."
"There are ways."
"To give people incentives."
"Without souring your agreement with me"
"Besides which, you forgot something."
"you can't use the boost stone without my permission."
"The Contract you signed the first time is magic, not mundane."
"and it was explicitly multi-occasion, not single-time. any boost stone I give you, which you accept and use, follows its rules."
"I'm willing to let you use the boost stone now for what you said, rendering this requirement null, And allow you to survive having used the 1/1 charge thats Mine (governed by contract)."
"But. "
"there is a condition for you being able to do this:"
"If you reach 1 HP and flee, but live,"
"Or if you are yoreshielding the Godmodder, he has no boss out, and you still hold starcalibur."
"then you must repay your debt by providing me with 5 of your actions (instead of the 3 you owe but are using), over time."
(in scenario 1, they do it to summon a single entity while in hiding and give it to me when done. in scenario two, it's obvious.)
"And if you die with the x/5 of the debt unpaid, agree that up to x of your actions worth of your entitys become mine."
"This thing's non-negotiable, by the way. you can either not use the boost stone and use your next action to redo the 1/1 charge, or you can accept my deal, by force of contract."
"I am willing to take this to a vote of whether it's fair... but not by court of any sort. by polling of players, and bringing it to vote has a cost of 1 action if lost."
"..."
"I guess I was right not to trust you without enforcement."

(proof of contract)

Morpheus: Hey! Are you... keeping tabs on two things at once? I thought I had your undivided attention... (quite rude, isn't it?)

Morpheus: If you solve this for me, you'll have all the aid I can give... and that includes sending messages (understand?).

Ow, ow, ow... this stings a lot. Would Morpheus try to grab the Legendary Weapon away from you if you tried to transfer it over to Arsenical? That would throw a wrench in things...

Sorry, the way time works for me, I experienced two days between the last time you talked and this one. since it took less then a "day" to formulate my questions, the next "day" I heard things where happening where Alice [a fledgling godmodder] broke a contract, so... I was giving you rather a lot of attention.
In any case.
I'm inclined to give you the weapons. here are my decisions, in order of when we should try them.
1)If he is capable of removing the life debt thing at any time, Do nothing. I can have him preform 5 actions in the near future. I'll make one of them removing the debt.
2) give him the Mascythe and Dream fake starcalibur, which I've mind-altered his definition of starcalibur to include.
3) if he refuses dream fake starcalibur, give him both mascythe and infinileaf. I have a way to get them back soon enough.
If he thinks 1 is bad, I give him what he needs for 2 and 3.
Since none of these options involve Not helping the man out, Alice should receive the message, altered in one way: She's only paying for the boost stone, not the 1/1 charge, at a later date. the 1/1 charge needs to be payed for as soon as it would not lower her hp to 1 if she does so, and to create the drone.

Morpheus: You say the godmodder owes you actions (how'd you pull that off)?

Morpheus: I doubt #1 would work, as the godmodder could argue that he was removing the debt under duress, and therefore the removal is null and void.

Morpheus: #2 is the same - if (when) the godmodder discovers the mistake, he could argue that the debt was never really paid (which it wouldn't be).

Morpheus: #3... let me guess, you're going to have him hand them back to you? (It avoids the problems of #1/2...)

Morpheus: It comes with its own risks, of course... first, that you'll actually get the godmodder to give them back to you, as you only have one shot, but...

Morpheus: That's not my problem, it's yours (so I'll go along with the plan).

You had better wrap up the sidequest and tell Alice yourself...

"No, no, no... We can work with this. We can work with this!" I yell out of excitement, slamming my index finger down on the third passage.

"Transferring it to another viable individual, willing or unwilling. How would that be passed on to another individual, exactly? There's many possible suitable candidates. We should be able to find someone that's both less of a threat to us and willing (or easy enough to manipulate) into signing this contract. I've, of course, got someone in mind. Any ideas, JOEbob?"

As you happily explain to the two other negotiatiors that you may have found something, a small note suddenly appears out of thin air, a sudden unprompted gust of wind blowing it right into your face!

You look down... there's an unmistakable and clearly intentional aura of godmodding energy about this little piece of paper... and the text...

"Only JOEbob"

...This appeared in direct response to you pondering who could possibly have the life debt transferred to them. So that would mean...

-------

It looks like your ruminating and planning has brought about a few options thus far.

Plan #1: Give the Legendary Weapons to the godmodder and call in the debt he owes to JOEbob to get them back

Plan #2: Respond to the godmodder's note, and offer to transfer the life-debt to JOEbob

Plan #3: Do nothing. Try to leave, and hope ignoring this doesn't cause the end of the multidimensional multiverse.

The Legendary Weapon still stings... It's really starting to hurt, now...

I refuse. if we transfer the debt, I lose by 5 Godmodder actions, a couple of boost stones, the cleansed orb, somno energy, charmzard generator, dreamfakestarcalibur, my life, and the legendary weapons i have access to. he can just say as the action to risk my life for "making the Godmodder's position as advantageous as possible".
As stated, I give morpheus the weapons. I said I would do it already in my last post, come on!
I also tell morpheus how I got him to owe me actions. it's a fun little story about the phrase "wipe the floor" not being in a dictionary, waggering a boost stone, and a fun game of curling. it was glorious.
and I definitely give him the weapons. any longer and I lose all my ability to hold them, most likely. this should have been done two posts ago for pets flake.

Also. A note for the future.
If before, I had options A and C, and I chose A.
And then you introduce option B, which is objectively Inferior to option A, and subjectively inferior to C.
Then you have No Reason to believe I want option B! you do not need to delay and ask which I want! not unless you're hoping I'll miss the reason why B is objectively worse if the Godmodder is remotely smart, and want to kick me out of the game! ...or unless you didn't realize that was a possible application, but Ehhhhhhhhh

You deny the plan that involves giving yourself up, and choose the option that involves putting legendary weapons in the godmodder's hands! You walk up to Morpheus, and hand over Mascythe and the Infinileaf Clover. Morpheus winces picking them up, clearly feeling the effects of the Life Drain.

I then hand off the Yorehammer to JOEbob, because maybe he can find something useful to do with it.

You try to open a portal to where JOEbob is to teleport Yorehammer out, but... the Soulrazer stops you! It's no-leaving effect is still active, and will continue to be so until it is dead! You continue clinging to Yorehammer. Better give it to someone else.

-------

Morpheus takes on both the Legendary weapons, and takes a moment to double-checks them for authenticity. As they are authentic, he is entirely satisfied.

Morpheus: JOEbob... thank you truly.

Morpheus: I will deliver these to the godmodder as soon as possible. Can't very well keep him waiting.

Morpheus: From here, your job is to use the debt you've mentioned to make the godmodder immediately give them up (good luck with that one).

Morpheus: Whether you fail, or succeed... you have the most aid I can give you. One hundred percent, all the time (just don't ask me to kill myself. I won't do that.).

Morpheus: Good luck.

With that done, JOEbob and Arsenical suddenly feel sleepy... before they know it, they're lying down on the gentle ground... it's so soft... you wish you could just... sleep...

--------

GAH! Back on the HEXAGONAFIELD... you were really enjoying getting a moment of rest, too...

Looks like holding the Legendary Weapon for so long took quite a bit out of you! This turn, you'll only get 1 action. Then 2 actions the next turn... then back to 3. That's for JOEbob, Arsenical is returned normally.

Action 2&3:An expedition begins!

Back above ground, I'm hard at work with a piece of chalk. Drawing an elaborate series of tunes and geometric patterns, all contained within a circle of melted gold.

The patterns call to a god of magic and knowledge, but contact has not been made. To do that I begin the next step. I stand in the center of the Circle, slowly rotating with my eyes closed.

Suddenly my eyes snap open. "North." Barely leaves my lips before a pure iron knife slams into one end of the circle. The knife shudders, it's handle pointing towards the sky.

The process repeats. "South."
"West"
Again.
"East." And again

A thin string is tied from the handles of each of the knives and crisscrossing itself in odd ways. "The horizons have intersected!" My voice rings out. The lines pulse, I have something's attention. Now to gain favor...

Two lit candles appear on the eastern and western knives. "The sun has met itself!" A barely noticeable spark of Power brings a lit candle to my left hand. "And at it's zenith I offer you two gifts, one mighty and one minor."

I hold the candle high above my head. It flickers, as miles of books appear. Containing the combined knowledge of multiple earths.

"First, I present to you a mere fraction of your knowledge. A humbling of myself and all who claim knowledge, but wilt before your brilliant glow." The candles lash out, a firestorm consumes the great library, setting it to ash in moments.

"And second, I present a piece of knowledge held sacred by myself." An alter of brittle, dry oak appears in front of me. A leather bound book sits on it, it seems to be seeping a strange black fluid from it's spine.

This time, instead of an inferno the candle's flames start to drip, the fire runs along the gold and seeps into the chalk, turning the white lines into lava as it races to the alter.

The alter burns easily, the book seems to fight off the divine fire for a moment. But soon a hollow scream marks it's consumption.

Grimacing I lay the candle on the ground in front of me. "As payment for these gifts, I demand safe passage for myself, and a Player who I personally select, to your divine realm. So that we may seek an audience."

A moment of dead silence passes, before the candle's flame rises eight feet into the air, the stream of fire parts in two. Between the flames is a murky amber pool..

The Portal to a god of Magic and Knowledge is open.

"pionoplayer I've got a door open, I'd suggest using an Action to shield us from the Godmodder's influence." I call out to my fellow Player, beginning to walk through the amber pool.
I charge up 2 more CP, the last before entering the sidequest.

Piono squints at Spicy. He's really not sure how to do a generic "protect against the Godmodder" type thing until he's reactivated some of his more powerful artifacts, but oh well.
Piono sets up a small ward that will hopefully spray the Godmodder with a blast of multiple elements should he attempt to screw with the sidequest, probably not enough to do major damage, but enough to distract him such that he can't get a hold on the sidequest.

Then, once Spicy steps through the portal to the plane of knowledge, Piono follows him.

--------

SIDEQUEST BEGUN:
Magic and Monsters

---------

Pionoplayer and Spicy_Serious find themselves lying on the ground. After entering the portal, they must have blacked out.

They both slowly get on their feet. Above them stretches a black and dark sky, and around them is a dense forest. A voice echoes through the woods on the wind, and the two Players jump to their feet at its call...

"Hello, Players. I am the god of magic and knowledge. I will grant you the audience you seek."

"However, this land has long been overtaken by a great beast... Quetzalcoatl! He must be slain before I can grant you my audience, as his influence has corrupted my own abilities."

"Travel to the top of the cliff, and then unleash the biggest light you can. Then, Quetzalcoatl will appear before you. But beware his minions!"

The voice fades away, and the two Players are left to their own devices... however, before they can get their bearings, some of the nearby tress grow legs and come to life! A gnarled branch is swung at Piono, but he dodges out of the way just in time!

Spicy_Serious leaps forward and hires a lumberjack to cut down the trees! The Lumberjack rushes forward with his axe and smashes the tree with it - but even with all the Player powers, it does nothing! In this magical land, you can only attack with magic spells!

More monsters emerge from the forest. This will be a tough fight.

--------

Combat works a bit differently here. Now, you have to learn spells before you can destroy your foes! Here's how learning spells works.

1: You have to spend an action to learn a spell (you still have 3 here). You can learn more than one new spell each turn, so your first turn should be spent filling your spellbook.
2: You have to describe, generally, what kind of mechanical effect you'd like your spell to have. Raw damage, stunning, HP regen, burning, etc. Descriptions that are a little out-there or weird are fine, but they should be general, not ultra-specific.
3: Random.org will roll a d20. The higher the roll, the better the spell you get is.

Spells cost mana, which regenerates at a rate of 5/turn. You can also regenerate it by "recycling" spells you're finished with for 5 more mana each (as a free action). Also, trying to attack normally won't work at all!

I wouldn't mind joining the side quest, since I don't really have anything out at the moment!
I join the sidequest
Im also going to join the Sidequest
Piono stands back and generates some basic spells for his spellbook:
Earthquake: unleashes the wrath of earth, causing large amounts of rock and debris to be dislodged from the ground in violent spikes that toss enemies around and damage them. Particularly good against grounded enemies.
Inferno: unleashes the wrath of fire, causing the enemy to burst into flame, sending up a pillar of fire into the air. Usually inflicts a fire-type DoT, particularly good against flammable enemies.

Piono whips out Levis Ignis and with an arm raised to the sky, fire erupts from the Twisted Roots as he casts Inferno on them.

Ground-Based attack roll: 20/20 - GEOSTORM: A torrent of rocks and earth one-shots any ground-based non-boss enemy. Has a 30% chance of failure. Mana cost: 20

You got lucky! This spell is extremely strong, but uses all your current mana supply when you cast it!

Fire-based attack roll: 8/20 - Ignite: A gout of flame erupts from your hands, dealing minor damage and burning your foe! Mana cost: 5

You cast Ignite, burning a Twisted Root for 10,000 damage + burning! Hmm... maybe it's better to see what your spells are before you try to cast them, just in case..

I smile to myself, this'll be interesting.

A wave of my hand brings a book fluttering into existence, spellbook probably wasn't literal, but it's the principle dammit. With that thought I begin to write.

Spell 1: Healing Hands

Allows the caster to heal one nearby ally, a simple spell but a needed one.

Spell 2:Aegis of Knowledge.

A spell that summons several books, that swirl around the target of the spell at lightning speeds, blocking incoming attacks.

Spell 3: Poison Flail

A spell that briefly summons into being a flail made of pulsing purple energy, that, after striking an enemy disappears. It also has a chance to inflict the status effect POISON on it's victims, causing a slow drain of the target's HP.

------------
Ink dried on the floating Spellbook, I wait for the enemy to make their move. I just hope I did things correctly.

Healing Spell roll: 12/20 - Rejuvenate: A high-powered healing spell. Mana cost: 10

Shielding Spell roll: 1/20 - Paper armor: Rips pages from a nearby book and uses them to give the target a thin layer of paper as armor. Mana cost: 0

Poison attack roll: 5/20 - Blowdart: Shoot a poisonous blow-dart with your mouth. Inflicts minimal damage and poison. Mana cost: 4

---------

The enemies move in to attack! The Living Wood split their attacking power, dealing 20,000 damage to both Players! The Twisted Roots then, in retaliation, twists up around Piono's legs! Piono can still move, but he's 50% of the way to being stunned. If they hit him again next turn, he'll be unable to move!

The Nymph mage casts Chop on Spicy_Serious! A giant axe appears, and slices across Spicy_Serious's chest! This inflicts 30,000 damage, and worse yet, Spicy_Serious has a clear exposed bleeding wound...

From the back of the forest appears a moving thief! It looks like he just got back from raiding some sort of temple, and he arrived here totally by accident. Now he's trying to abscond as fast as he can... but if you can defeat him, he'll probably drop what he's carrying...

-------

The portal in the sky re-opens, and out come four new friends to join the fight: DragonofHope! Algot! And MooGoestheCow! With new friends, this fight gets much easier.

Pionoplayer: 130,000/150,000 HP (50% of the way to stun)

NOTE: Your spellbooks cap at seven spells. Remember, you can recycle extras to regen 5 Mana each and clear space, and recycling is a free action

Magic and Monsters III
I create spells

elemental blast: shoots a blast of elemental energy that deals dammage and has a chance inflict a status effect related to that element (the element is random)

Bomb Burst: creates a lot of explosions damaging enemies and destroying rocks

Fire Focus: takes control of all fire in the area allowing me to use it to hurt enemies or destroy things that are flammable

Elemental damage attack roll: 15/20 - Lightning: Does a large amount of damage and has a 50% chance to stun an enemy. Mana cost: 10

Explosion attack roll: 8/20 - Big Blast: Hits 3 enemies for minor damage. Mana cost: 8

Fire concentration roll: 15/20 - Summon Flame Atronarch: Concentrates all the heat into a Flame Atronarch that takes your commands. Mana cost: 10. Can't have more than one Atronarch.

Um, why don't the roots have damage taken?
I cast Geostorm on the roving thief.

I then attempt a water spell, which should hopefully have a knockback effect or some sort of disruption effect.
I also attempt an air spell, which will give dodge boost to the caster, or to the friend that I cast it on.

Whup. Fixed.

You cast GEOSTORM! ...But you get unlucky, and it fails!

Water attack: 18/20 - Tidal Wave: Summons a wave to wash away an enemy, dealing massive damage and removing them from the field for 1 turn. Mana cost: 15

Dodge chance buff: 8/20 - Tailwind: The winds slightly aid an ally's movement, giving them 20% dodge rate boost until the end of the current battle. Mana cost: 6

Spells:
Summon Celestial: Summon Angel of Patron God

Plasma Burst: Summons a ball of plasma that explodes on top of a enemy

Iron Golems: Summons iron Golems

I will cast Summon Celestial

Quick note, both creating spells and casting them takes one action. You've still only got 3 per turn.

Summon Patron Angel: 18/20 - Summons a projection of the God of Technology to fight by your side. Mana cost: 30

What!? That's above your maximum mana! Hmmm...

Electricity attack: 7/20 - Electric Shock: Zaps an enemy for medium damage and 50% stunning. Mana cost: 5

Iron Golem Summon: 18/20 - Iron Golem Swarm: Summons three Iron Golems to your side to help fight the enemies and protect the villagers. Villagers are also summoned, and the Iron Golems stay as long as the villagers are alive. This spell can only be used once per sidequest, and can't be recycled once used.

I try to make a spell that can raise/resurrect the dead! I put two actions into that if I can! If I can't, I try to make a lightning spell. I then try to make a spell that can stun enemies!

Oh, I can't participate in the main story until this is over, right? Just checking.

Resurrection Spell (Risky!): 6/20 - Misfire: Resurrects a random insect near the targeted dead body. Mana cost: 0

What? A Risky-type spell!

Ah. Sometimes, when you try to make a spell with a "cheaty" or "OP" effect (such as a spell that can be cast to get 2 new spells for one action), you're putting yourself at risk of the RNG. You might actually get what you want if you roll high enough, but if you don't, you risk getting an entirely worthless spell, or even a spell that actively hurts you - such as one that takes away mana when you try to recycle it! The more obscene the effect of your desired spell, the greater the risk you undertake - thankfully, a resurrection spell isn't pushing the envelope too much. This spell, at least, can be safely recycled for extra mana.

Lightning spell: 2/20 - Static: You rub your feet a lot and shock the enemy with a touch of static electricity. 20% chance to stun an enemy for 3 turns. Mana cost: 3

Stunning spell: 17/20 - Chains of Astonishment: Chains rise out of the ground and lock around the legs of 2 enemies, stunning them for one turn. Mana cost: 15

Yes, as long as you're in the sidequest, your post won't count for main updates.

I stare in disappointment at my spellbook, Paper Armor? Really?

Shrugging I...

Cast Paper Armor anyway!

On myself, I have the thing so I'm using it dammit!

I eye the Nymph, he'll pay for dealing damage to me.

I Cast Blowdart on the bastard.

A mere slap on the wrist, but it's something. Hopefully something painful.

I glance down at my wound...that's problematic, it's ruining my clothes! I manage to go this whole time on the Hexagonalfield without so much as a spot of dirt getting on me, and now...

I Cast Rejuvenate on Myself.

You get covered in paper! This is pretty much worthless.

You stick the stupid Nymph! Take that, nature! Poison beats grass! 3,000 damage to the nymph, and they're taking light poison damage!

You cast Rejuvenate! You get 40,000 HP back! And there goes most of your mana...

--------

ENEMY PHASE:

The Living Wood all gang up on MooGoestheCow, dealing 40,000 damage to him!

The Twisted Roots finish entwining Pionoplayer! He's stunned! Until the Twisted Roots are destroyed, Piono can't act! Unfortunately, nobody has any status effect heals yet.

The Roving Thief looks for an escape route...

The Nymph Mage casts Worms on the newly-healed Spicy Serious! The paper armor is quickly eaten through, and the worms get into Spicy_Serious's wounds! Agh!

Since Spicy_Serious is already bleeding, the Worms take advantage and inflict a new status effect: Leprosy! Spicy_Serious loses 20,000 HP every turn until either a spell cures him or he dies!

--------

It looks like casting your actually good spells drains your mana really fast! Remember, your spellbook maxes at 7 and its easy to get new spells - don't be afraid to recycle spells you don't need to fuel casting actually good spells.

Players:

Pionoplayer: 130,000/150,000 HP (Stunned by the Twisted Roots! Can't act!)
Mana: 5/20

Geostorm(Mana cost: 20, one-shots, fails against air, 30% chance of auto-failure)
Ignite(Mana cost: 5, Minor damage, burning)
Tidal Wave(Mana cost: 15, Massive damage, removes enemy from field for 1 turn)
Tailwind(Mana cost: 6, adds 20% dodge rate to one ally for battle)

Spicy_Serious: 140,000/150,000 HP (Leprosy, -20,000 HP per turn)(covered in paper)
Mana: 11/20
Spellbook:
Rejuvenate(Mana cost: 10, strong healing)
Paper Armor(Mana cost: 0, gives paper armor)
Blowdart(Mana cost: 4, minimal damage, poison)

DragonofHope: 150,000/150,000 HP
Mana: 20/20
Spellbook:
Misfire(Mana cost: 0, resurrects insect near targeted dead body)
Static(Mana cost: 3, 20% chance to stun an enemy for 3 turns)
Chains of Astonishment(Mana cost: 15, Stuns 2 enemies for 1 turn)

Algot: 150,000/150,000 HP
Mana: 20/20
Spellbook:
Lightning(Mana cost: 10, Major damage, 50% chance to stun)
Big Blast(Mana cost: 8, Minor damage to 3 targets)
Summon Flame Atronarch(Mana cost: 10, summons flame atronarch)

MooGoestheCow: 110,000/150,000 HP
Mana: 20/20
Spellbook:
Summon Patron Angel(Mana cost: 30, summons a projection of the God of Technology)
Electric Shock(Mana cost: 5, medium damage, 50% stunning)
Iron Golem Swarm(Mana cost: 20, summons several iron golems and villagers, iron golems leave when villagers are dead, usable once per sidequest, can't be recycled once used)

Enemies:
Living Wood: 60,000/60,000 HP, 10,000A
Living Wood: 60,000/60,000 HP, 10,000A
Living Wood: 60,000/60,000 HP, 10,000A
Living Wood: 60,000/60,000 HP, 10,000A
Twisted Roots: 26,000/40,000 HP, 50%Stun! A (-4,000 HP per turn for 1 more turns)
Nymph mage: 73,000/80,000 HP (Mana: 6/10, 3 Regen)(Spellbook: Chop(5 Mana), Worms(5 Mana))(poisoned, -3,000 HP per turn for 3 more turns)
Roving Thief: 50,000/50,000 HP (carrying unknown item)(escaping in 1!)

OOC: Alright, there won't be any more updates for a little while as I'm going to do the main update next. It should come out sometime in the next few days.

Magic and Monsters IV
I make 2 more spells

Stasis: Target is immune to damage for X turns but also can not act

Godly Smite(Risky): Summon as much power as possible to smite my Enemys Mana cost: 150%(it needs all my mana pool and also damages myself to use it)
This is explicitly a Risky Spell because of how much power it uses

I then cast Summon iron Golems

Stasis Freezing Spell: 16/20 - Cryofreeze: Places the target, friend or foe, in a state of stasis for a full turn. If the target is a foe, also deals moderate damage. Cost: 10 mana.

Mana/HP sacrifice spell roll: 3/20 - Self-siphon: Spend 10% of max HP to deal minor damage to an enemy. Mana cost: 0

Note that you don't determine which spells are risky ones - rather, it's for if you try to create a spell with an OP effect.

You cast SUMMON IRON GOLEMS! A horde of Iron Golems and villagers appear to help fight! This also locks your spell, essentially leaving you down a spell slot for the rest of the quest.

I glare at the Nymph, the bastard is gunning for me! Well two can play that game.

Create Spell: Vicious Swarm!

Once cast this spell creates a stream of vicious man-eating piranhas! That are then hurled at the target of the spell, causing damage.

Cast Spell: Blowdart on Roving Thief
Cast Spell: Blowdart on Twisted Roots

As much as I would love to pay the Nymph back, priorities are priorities.
-----------
Noticing the small portals and Winkins comment, I shoot him a thumbs up. To let him know I heard his idea.

Piranha damage spell: 1/20 - Goldfish: Summons a Goldfish cracker in the mouth of the enemy. Mana cost: 0

You're having absolutely terrible RNG this quest...

You blowdart each of your foes, dealing 4,000 damage to them, and renewing and stacking the Twisted Root's poison!

I use my new spell Misfire hundreds of thousands of times on random dead insects around me! I now have an insect army! I command them to attack the nymph mage! I then use my Chains of Astonishment on both the Roving Thief and the Twisted Roots!

I create a spell that will allow me to make any weapon!

I make a spell that will allow me to heal myself based on how much damage I do to a enemy (basically leech life)

I make a spell to remove status effects.

I'll prioritize the Chains of Astonishment over using Misfire, and making spells over Misfire if spells take actions. Chains of Astonishment take priority over making spells.

Prioritization? You get 3 things to do per turn, and that's it... no need for prioritization.

You need one action/spell cast! The insect army is a pretty good idea, but you don't really have the time.

Twisted Roots and Roving Thief stunned! The Twisted Roots astonished, its grip on Pionoplayer loosens...

Weapon Creation Spell (Risky!): 14/20 - Conjure Weapon: Conjure a weapon that can be used to attack enemies normally. Mana cost: 10

Life leech spell: 20/20 - Vampirism: Afflicts the enemy with Life Rot, dealing significant damage to them every turn, and healing you for the same damage as long as both you and them are alive! Mana cost: 20

Seeing as Moniker apparently didn't notice my post, I take the 3 CP gained from the post that turn and put it in the Relic.

I then join the sidequest, remaking the spells I cast earlier if I can.

In a nutshell, these are:
1. Fire based ranged attack.
2. Spell to heal ally.
3. A spell to create a magic weapon.

Relic Info:

Current Orders:

Aura Unlock:

Fire — — — — x — — — —Water

Air — — — — x — — — Earth

Fire - Flamethrower
Launches a beam of fire at an enemy for moderate damage. May burn them if susceptible.

Fire Unleash - Inferno

A ray of firey death strikes the enemy it's aimed at for high damage, burning the enemy in the process.

Water - Soothing Waters
Gives an ally of choice about a 10th of it's HP back, capping at 20K health restored a turn to prevent OPness.

Water Unleash - Torrent
The Relic lets out a minor flood, healing all AG entities and damaging all PG ones for minor amounts.

Air - Wind Slash
Attacks one enemy for mild damage, BUT ignores any minor attack shield, block, or dodge because it goes at the speed of... well, lightning.

Air - Thunderstorm
A bolt of lightning strikes the enemy down for moderate damage, piercing any form of defense the target may have.

Earth - Tremor
Deals mild damage to a max of three entities within a short range.

Earth - Earthquake
Works like the Pokémon move. Deals moderate damage to any ground troop within the area, even ones that are AG.

Sorry, but Auras are currently locked due to a lack of CP. If I gain 10 CP, I'll get them up and running.

Apologies! Let's get those spells made up:

Fire Assault spell: 6/20 - Singe: Use fire to attack an enemy for moderate damage. Mana cost: 6

Healing spell: 6/20 - Bandage: Heals an ally for a small amount if they're above half health, a large amount if they're below half. Mana cost: 10

Weapon creation spell (Risky!): 5/20 - Creation: Drops a worthless hunk of metal in your hands. Mana cost: 0

Bad luck at the start, but hey, you can just make more spells!

I use lightning on the roiving thief and make a status effect healing spell

Status effect heal spell: 20/20 - Reset: Cures every status effect. Death included. Mana cost: 15

You cast Lightning, dealing 15,000 damage to the Roving thief! It doesn't stun them for an extra turn, though.

-------

ENEMY PHASE:

One Living Wood strikes at a villager, wounding it! The Iron Golems bristle with anger... three more Living Wood slam MooGoestheCow, dealing 30,000 damage to them!

ALLY PHASE:

One Iron Golem crushes the Twisted Roots, killing it! Pionoplayer is freed properly! The other two split up and take on the Living Woods, dealing 30,000 damage to two of them! The Iron Golems are a big help for now, but you need to keep their villagers safe or they'll leave you!

Magic and Monsters V
OOC: This is the last sidequest update until the next main update. Speaking of main updates, expect the next one sometime on Wednesday.

I create then immediately sacrifice two nondescript spells, gaining 10 mana, and then cast tidal wave on the roving thief.

You burn 2 random spells for 10 Mana! You can do this as long as your spellbook isn't full. You cast TIDAL WAVE! The crashing waves surround the Roving Thief, slaying it!

On the ground, you see the item the thief was carrying...

I use big blast on these three enemies:
Living Wood: 30,000/60,000 HP, 10,000A
Nymph mage: 70,000/80,000 HP (Mana: 4/10, 3 Regen)(Spellbook: Chop(5 Mana), Worms(5 Mana))(poisoned, -3,000 HP per turn for 2 more turns)
Roving Thief: 27,000/50,000 HP (carrying unknown item)(escaping in 1!)(-4,000 HP per turn for 1 more turns)

that is one action correct?

I also try to write a spell that summons a clone of the peackeepers or some other unit of similar strength that clone would attack an enemy to deal dammage if they were related to an element they would have a chance to cause status effects relating to that element. the clone would also dissapear after that

The one action is phrased correctly. You redirect the Big Blast to another Living Wood as the Roving Thief is dead. 7,000 damage to each!

Peacekeeper Cloning Spell (Very Risky!): 19/20 - Keep the Peace: Summons a unit of the Peacekeeper army to instantly wipe out the enemies. Requires a 10 turn charge period, during which time the caster can't act. If the caster is slain whilst charging, the spell is canceled. Mana cost: 0

I use Conjure Weapon to make a massive white axe that I then use to strike the Roving Thief! I then use Misfire to gather thousands of insects! Again!

I then create a spell that will allow me to boost Mana regeneration permanently!

You cast Conjure Weapon and gain a massive white axe! This allows you to use a basic attack dealing 6,000 damage against any enemy for no mana cost. However, it still costs an action to do it!

You cast Misfire, reviving a caterpillar! However, the insect isn't actually controlled by you in any way. It just so happened to be revived by your spell. It owes you nothing.

Permanent Mana Regen spell (Risky!): 9/20 - Accelerate: Puts an ally in x2 mode, giving them double actions, double mana regen, and double status effect quickness. All damage taken in x2 mode is multiplied by 5. Mana cost: 20

A deep sigh leaves my lips as my new spell is written onto my book. "Well...at least they serve some purpose." Having said that I rip the pages containing Goldfish and Paper Armor out of the floating book.

Spells Paper Armor and Goldfish sacrificed to gain Mana.

Create Spell: Dancing Swords.

Moving on...this spell summons several ethereal Swords to dance around the target of the spell. Blocking incoming attacks and cutting through Status Effects that try to ail the target of this spell.

I Cast Rejuvenate on MooGoestheCow.

Looking over, I spot that Moo has managed to get bellow 100,000 HP. That really can't stand. Guess I'm back on Support...grumbling I cast the spell.

I Cast: Blowdart on Nymph Mage.

Defense + Status Effect Heal spell: 20/20 - Deadly Performance: Summons a wall of blades around the target. They automatically counter one incoming attack, dealing a significant amount of damage back to the attacker. Furthermore, as long as the wall is up, any spells or attacks that just inflict status effects without doing damage will be canceled, without using up the wall of blades. Mana cost: 15

You cast REJUVENATE! MooGoestheCow is healed for 40,000 HP! You also stick the Nymph mage, dealing 4,000 damage and worsening their poison!

----------

ENEMY PHASE:

The Nymph Mage is both poisoned and out of Mana! They can't afflict Algot with Leprosy until next turn, unfortunately. They need to regen, and they can't sacrifice spells like you can!

The Living Wood assault Algot, dealing 40,000 damage to him! Then, they turn towards the villagers...

ALLY PHASE:

The Iron Golems attack a Living Wood and the Nymph mage for 30,000 damage to each! One attacks an already-injured Living Wood, killing it!

--------

You take a close look at what the Roving Thief dropped... it's... a Ring of Spell Storage!

Here's how it works. You pick one spell from the spellbook of any Player. That spell is then removed from their spellbook and stored in the ring. It can't be changed later. However, when you get back to the HEXAGONAFIELD, you'll be able to use the ring to cast that spell against HEXAGONAFIELD enemies! However, it has a limited number of uses, based on the spell chosen (for example, Geostorm would probably not have many uses as compared to Chains of Astonishment). You can also use it as an alchemy ingredient.

Everyone gets to vote on what spell you should take home.

-------

It looks like this fight is about finished! With the action dying down, you look around and see two paths, with two signs. One sign states "BOILING BOG". The other states "RAVISHING RAPIDS".

At Boiling Bog, you imagine you'll see poison and other status effects.

At Ravishing Rapids, you might be seeing a lot of heavy hitting enemies.

You've all got to vote on which path to take next.
