<ROUND 14>

Lentinula officially becomes a frost fairy! New weaknesses and resistances are added to her sheet, making her even more ice-resistant at the cost of really not liking fire.

<THE WRECKAGE, ROUND 3>

The Fell Behemoth is down! RIP to the stunlocked large boi. The remaining Fell Beasts are mostly pretty healthy, however, so don't get too overconfident just yet.

<OUTLANDS>

With the retreat of the purple Iti and the Fell Beasts, the Grey Iti scatter to the winds as well... very disorganizedly. You could probably catch them if you wanted. The Gorged in particular seems to linger, perhaps out of a misplaced confidence in its own abilities.

Chi studies the new key item.

CHI: A key?
CHI: And is this made of... thymium, I believe it was called?
CHI: ...Is this of Chairian make, or Iti? Or... someone else?
CHI: I doubt it simply opens a lock. The resemblance to the Entropic Key can't be coincidental.

She raises her voice to speak to the nine other party members freshly out of the recent battle.

CHI: I'd appreciate your assistance in investigating this device.
CHI: But if any of you use it recklessly on one another... I, I will have to punish such behavior.
CHI: A-are we understood?

Pardon moves back to M16, then. N17 and invokes the power of Purification on the Bleed Intensity of Maria, curing the latter of being bled out and restoring 24-30 HP. A scent of peaches surrounds Maria as Pardon also throws her the Magic Pouch if it holds Energised 4-5. If its Energised6, he’s taking it for himself.. He than steps to M16 to avoid being ganked by a Fell Beast hopefully.

"Alright, I think I can Phase Shift Fell Beast 4 to K16, or J16 if that spot becomes open. I could then harvest and splash H16 with a Cinderfruit. Are there any alterations to the plan? This is kind of relying on a bit too much on good area damage."

Stats - +1KP to HP

Outlands

The rest of the purple iti have escaped, as well as most of the grey iti. Debbie lands, and turns to the rest of the party. Her expression loosens with the immediate threat having passed.

DEBBIE: ...I-is anyone else still injured?

A cursory glance reveals that everyone's either unharmed or patched up. Even Debbie only has minor scratches now, and those are healing up nicely thanks to Chi. But nobody can be too certain.

DEBBIE: If there's anything lasting... w-well, I'm sure you know who to speak to already.

Chi then remarks something about the thing that the Gorged dropped earlier. Debbie walks over, bending over to examine it.

DEBBIE: S-so this resembles the weapon that defeated the Butterfly?
DEBBIE: Interesting...
DEBBIE: ...
DEBBIE: S-sorry. I don't really have anything to add. It's... a-a fair bit above my expertise at the moment.

DEBBIE: If I find anything, though, I'll be sure to let you know, as usual.

She straightens up and faces where the purple iti fled to. She contemplates following to check... but hesitates.

DEBBIE: ...Hold on.
DEBBIE: As much as I'd like to pursue them further...

She walks over to the Gorged.

DEBBIE: Hold still.

In a series of motions similar to what she did with the Yggcrawler, Debbie unearths seemingly random fossils (including a Fell Beast skull), which quickly connect themselves with Fluidsand and other earthen material, finally animating into a rough facsimile of the Gorged. It then runs off to assist in construction in Debbie's stead. The actual Gorged is probably very confused right now.

Debbie does look a bit more weary from that, though not as much as with the Yggcrawler earlier.

DEBBIE: T-there. That should cover construction back a-at the wreck, hopefully?

She then leaves the Gorged to their own devices as she goes off in the other direction, SouthEast through (Z53). She appears lost in thought.

---

Northern Wilds

The Yggcrawler has finished the "tent" made of scrap and bone. It eventually managed to replace their blades with something more suited for a pole, so it has those back now. A large bone from the former Lepidodendron fossil hunt that they weren't using at the time now stands as the tentpole.

Eventually, the freshly reanimated Gorged scurries over to the Yggcrawler. Collectively, they decide to bring the shelter into the Frozen Pond area. Close to the water so someone can maybe set up shop for catching fish.

They both then approach the nearby trees and start hacking away at them for logs. The Yggcrawler uses its blades as axes to fell some of the trees, while the Gorged, which has a Fell Beast skull for a head, uses it as beavers often do to fell trees.

It might take a bit to get some logs, but... the party will get some logs. Maybe some nice log benches would be nice to plonk around the place later... with Keane's assistance, it should be significantly faster.

As the outlands fight finishes, Lentinula swoops down and picks up the various fallen Iti in her ring. She also side-eyes Ilex and his issue with the Gorged.

SUPER KEANE MCZUPP SIXTY SEVEN 4: WIP POST

Looking up from fooling around on the guitar, Keane stands, guitar now strapped safely to his back, and crosses over towards Debbie's Gorged and Yggcrawler.

KEANE: Hey, you want any help?
KEANE: Still kinda technically supposed to be recovering, but I can try to lend a hand.

Keane assists the Gorged and Yggcrawler in harvesting logs.

QUOTE (Irecreeper @ Jun 18 2023, 01:33 AM)
SAKURA: ...Tier 3? I can have tiers of servants?
SAKURA: My, that's a great idea! Sure. You can be a tier 3 servant, and Eroa there can be a tier 1.
SAKURA: Then, I can subdivide my command structure to reduce my own workload, so...
SAKURA: Paige, please command Eroa and any other lower-tier servants I may be fielding once I conscript more.
SAKURA: As for what to do... you'll figure it out. You're an illustrious tier 3 servant. Such recognition would mean that surely, your intelligence is above average, right?
SAKURA: Make me proud, dearest servant!

Paige blinks, suddenly starry-eyed.

PAIGE: O-oh! I will, don't worry!
PAIGE: ...oh, looks like we just finished dealing with all the people, though...
PAIGE: It's fine! I'll serve you well! O(≧∇≦)O

Paige then turns to Eroa.

PAIGE: Uh, hiiii~! I-I'm Paige!
PAIGE: You're... Eroa, right, right! I have a feeling we're gonna be great friends! (ノ^ヮ^)ノ*:・゚✧
PAIGE: First order of business... selfies!

Paige whips out her cell phone with Devious Intent. Eroa feels a sudden wave of fear wash over her, but it's too late- Paige is already squished up next to her, angling for a good photo. Her skin is strangely cold- more like marble than anything. Eroa is then promptly flashbanged by a flurry of photos, and Paige releases her, scrolling through the images rapid-fire.

PAIGE: Mmm... I dunno. Which of these do you think is best?

Paige holds the phone up to Eroa, swiping through the images at a decently fast rate. All the photos are basically identical, but Paige still expects an answer. How will Eroa respond??

Eroa Commits the Something On Sakura

Eroa eyes Sakura, a girl she had considered talking to some time prior. An interesting one, for sure. Quite the haughty girl, bold enough to name Eroa a servant, yet these qualities were quite endearing. Sakura’s behavior had earned Eroa’s attention from the start, and now with an open opportunity to talk to her after the battle she approaches her.

Sakura was in the middle of an activity she would politely describe as “malding”, though perhaps it was closer to a slight tantrum more than anything. She had let the Fell Beast get away. There went a prime opportunity to create a really badgorilla outfit. Few Chairians ever dared to hunt down such fearsome beasts- imagine how much respect she could’ve commanded had she worn its hide?

SAKURA: God gorillaing DAMN it.
SAKURA: It was gonna be so cool! And maybe, I’d finally get to swear something better than goddamned rags!
SAKURA: But noooo, my team couldn’t assail the damn thing! Would it be so hard to just… shoot it?

She sighs audibly, turning to Eroa and giving her a sharp aside glance. If only she looked to the left instead of the right- she looks a bit silly shooting a glance with an eyepatch.

SAKURA: Oh, it’s you.
SAKURA: What is it.

EROA: Ah, I was thinking you looked so sad even though we won!
EROA: Even if we didn’t get all of them, we’ve attained victory so soundly.
EROA: What is the matter, then?

SAKURA: What’s not wrong?
SAKURA: Think about it for a bit.
SAKURA: Our cushy government job got immediately
gorillaing shot down by some freak with a bow bigger than their ego, I’m surrounded by goddamn peasantry, we’re apparently surrounded by both Iti and Fell Beasts, and we’re GOING TO DIE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WILDERNESS.
SAKURA: Pardon me if I can barely see the positives in killing a tiny, goddamn subatomic part of the Iti hordes.
SAKURA: I was thinking that at least I could get a cool cloak or something so I don’t immediately freeze to death (and look great while doing it), but nope. Not even that can go right.

Eroa briefly looks Sakura up and down before taking a step closer.

EROA: Well, if you’re spending all your time sulking we can’t exactly chase down a beast, can’t we?
EROA: Besides, our friends are having a scuffle with some more of those Beasts right now, aren’t they? I’m sure if you wait a moment longer they’ll be back with a mountain of fur and meat!
EROA: We’ll all get to huddle around a hearth, eat some delicious food, tell some fun campfire stories soon enough.
EROA: I’m certain that each one of us has something extraordinary to tell one another.
EROA: Doesn’t that sound like such fun to you, Lady Yedonesis?

Eroa’s smile at these thoughts shine true as the sun, finding such delight in their situation in stark contrast to Sakura. And if Eroa were the sun, Sakura was not the moon, but an all consuming black hole that ate the moon.

SAKURA: Yes, great idea. Eating the Fell Beasts.
SAKURA: D-Don’t you know that Fell Beasts are incredibly toxic!? Not even burning the absolute
gorilla out of its flesh would make it even the slightest bit edible.
SAKURA: At least, for Chairians. Not sure about humans, or whatever the hell you are.
SAKURA: Some haughty royal
gorilla tried to pull a stunt where he ate a skewer of Fell Beast flesh. gorillaer died on the spot. It would’ve been funny, had he not dropped dead in front of like a hundred people and caused a huge scene.

SAKURA: …That’s besides the point, though.
SAKURA: A campfire cookout… while my company may be far from even quaint, it could be a fun occasion. Perhaps I could finally have a meal I didn’t make myself, too.
SAKURA: So…

A twinge of pain crosses Sakura’s visage. Wincing, her right hand instinctively cradles her eyepatch, clutching the curious fabric. She holds like this for a few seconds, the pain apparently subsiding as soon as it arrived.

SAKURA: …Nah. Forget it.
SAKURA: Y-You’re all just… coworkers. Peasants. Whatever.
SAKURA: We’re… here to… [color=#000000]gorilla
in’ dunno. Kill some Iti? Investigate the Thymefield?
SAKURA: We should just focus on getting things done, so I can… g-go back h-home.

Eroa’s smile fades slightly, and she takes another step closer.

EROA: Well, I know that campfires and igloos can’t compare to maids and palaces…
EROA: But, you shouldn’t hold us all in low regard just for that.
EROA: You may see us to have no value, but wiping away at even the most muddy stone reveals the brightest gemstones!
EROA: It may sound cliche, but, get your hands a little dirty. You’ll never know what you can find in someone.
EROA: Looking at someone without a mile high pedestal… it’s something that’s gotten me to appreciate my role that much more.

SAKURA: Wipe mud away all you want, but it’s all for naught if there never was a gem to find in the first place.
SAKURA: We… can’t all be gems.
SAKURA: And sometimes, when you go searching, despite what you hoped, and exactly as you had feared…
SAKURA: …You’ll hate what you find, deep inside.

The princess leers towards the slurry of mud and snow she stands upon, crestfallen. A deep, dramatic sigh leaves her.

SAKURA: But, if it’ll get you off my gorilla, then maybe I can grace your little pow-wow with my presence.
SAKURA: Would that please you, miss Eroa?

Eroa pauses for a moment, seeming to think, stepping away a little and sighing, though still with a small hint of a smile on her face.

EROA: Well, I guess I can’t always be a winner at pep talks…
EROA: But joining us tonight would be a good start.
EROA: (Ah, as much as I wish I could, I can’t read minds as well as Scalta…)
EROA: …I guess I shall leave you be, then, as agreed.
EROA: We shall meet again, then, soon enough.

SAKURA: Yeah. See you then.

Eroa’s smile grows a little more before she waves goodbye and moves away. Once she’s out of view, Sakura takes a moment to move herself into the treeline. She rests a finger on her eyepatch, rubbing against its surface. Its scalelike surface scrapes against her bark. In quiet contemplation, she mutters words beneath her breath.

SAKURA: …Would they hate what they find?
SAKURA: We… we can’t risk it.

MEANWHILE, AT PAIGELAND...

Eroa, before she can truly respond, is roped into an assault of selfies. After that is done…

EROA: Ah, oh my! Not even time to set myself up!
EROA: You’re quite something, to just walk up to someone and do that…

Eroa looks down at Paige for a moment. Any lectures that Eroa would have laid upon Paige are suddenly wiped from her mind. How could she do that to this little girl?

EROA: …I think I can let it slide.
EROA: Now, lets see here…

Eroa observes each picture, with each picture showing nothing but sudden shock from her. Eroa stops Paige near the end.

EROA: Aha, I think this one is the one! Your smile is the brightest here.

This is almost certainly a lie, but again, how could she let Paige down?

Battle - The Wreckage

Blacklight glances around the nearby area. There sure are a lot of Fellbeasts. At least the herd are thinning out... He kind of wonders if it'd be worth "borrowing without intent to return" from the dead Fellbeasts afterwards.

"Hmm. Hopefully someone knows how to skin these things."

After Alicia's and Doc's actions, and also after Des moves but before Des acts, Blacklight moves to M18 and uses Pinning Shot on Fellbeast 1, using Designate Marksman to give the damage boost to Des.

"That ought to lower its guard. I hope you've got something to take advantage of the opening."

If the above action isn't legal, then... uh... Same again, but Blacklight just fucking domes the Fellbeast with a basic attack instead to finally make use of that earlier Pinning Shot damage boost.

Wreckage

Turn order nonsense incoming. Everyone not listed goes after all of these actions. If they're on the same line either could go before the other:

Alicia and Doc
Blacklight and Leaf
Des
R-8733
Offtopic
Padron
Maria

R-8733 wait until after Des attacks, and move to (N13). If Fell Beast 1 is still alive,, R-8733 will use his basic attack on Fell Beast 1, applying Blind3 because the other options are situational. If Fell Beast 1 is downed, he will instead attack Fell Beast 4.

Maria, after everyone else is done, will move to (K12) and use Riposte on Fell Beast 5.

Doc collects a tissue sample from the fallen Fell Behemoth.

Doc: I should be able to develop a new concoction if I use this right.

Doc pauses while examining the sample.

Doc: Oh, bother. I nearly forgot I need a clean sample.

Doc turns and sees Maria facing the Fell Beast 2.

Doc: Well, a smaller sample should be fine.
Doc: I'd better make sure she's able to finish it off - I know how fierce these monsters can be.

Doc pulls out his spyglass, then tilts his head annoyedly as he realizes the lens is cracked.

Doc: Useless mass-produced thing. I ought to learn how to make one of these myself.

Doc discards the damaged spyglass and pulls out an empty beaker.

Doc: This wil have to do for now.

Doc points the bottom of the beaker at the Fell Beast and examines it to the best of his ability.

(Doc scans the Fell Beast 2.)

They say that a Godmodder is a master of a universe, able to bend its laws to their whims.
They say that Godmodders are cursed to forever create their own opposition... adventurers, who crawl from the woodwork of the world to oppose the Godmodder.
But they say that there are no more Godmodders.
Unfortunately for them...

Trait Points and Balance Changes!
  • +1 KP to RES
  • I'd like to add Moving Entities as a fill condition for Ilex's special, so that he can actually build SP consistently. I'll say x3 per tile, though if that seems a bit much with how many movement options he has x2 would be fine as well.
  • An error I only now noticed I made, Ilex should not have the Drowning in Malice upgrade since it is a SPC-based upgrade and not an INT-based one.
With that out of the way, it's RP time! Continuing off from Piono's post.

Ilex & Lentinula RP, Part 1: How to Remove a Gorged from Someone's Arm
Ilex glances around, searching for the source of the voice before noticing Lentinula. He looks at the Iti stuck to his arm and then back at her.

Ilex: Oh! Uh, I… guess I can't really say that I'm a big fan of having my arm chewed up like this.
Ilex: I guess I was too focused on the chaos to really pay attention to this… creature?

He shakes his arm around in an unsuccessful attempt to remove the Gorged.

Ilex: Oh come on! Get off!
LENTINULA: ...We could like... try feeding it something else?
LENTINULA: I'm... I'm not sure that leaving all the grey iti roaming like you guys did was a good plan but.
LENTINULA: I guess you don't want to hurt this one either, right?

Ilex: I mean, I am kinda tempted to hit it over the head and call it a day, but… I'd rather not do that unless I have to.
Ilex: Hmmm… I'm not really sure what these things eat, but it does really seem to like trees…
Ilex: Maybe if I could find a good enough branch it might take that instead?

LENTINULA: I guess it's worth a try!

Ilex looks around the ground for a while, eventually finding a… mostly suitable branch. It's still fairly thin, and a little damp from sitting in the snow. But hopefully the Gorged won't mind too much.

Ilex: Hmm… I think this'll work.
Ilex: Now let's see if this does the trick. This thing's biting is starting to hurt.
Ilex: Hey, Iti! You like sticks, right?

Ilex waves the branch around in front of the Gorged. It detaches from Ilex's arm, energetically jumping and snapping at the tasty-looking pine branch.

Ilex: You want it? Fetch!

Ilex tosses the branch with all his might. It sails across the clearing, carried along by a few of Ilex's nanobots. The Gorged dashes across the snowy field, chasing after the stick. Lentinula peers off into the woods, and darts through the air back towards camp a bit, waving at Ilex.

LENTINULA: Come on, we better move while it's distracted.
Ilex: Yeah, that sounds good. I don't particularly feel like becoming a chew toy again.

----

A quick dash away to a hopefully safe distance, the two stop. Lentinula spins about in the air and floats closer to Ilex's eye level for easier conversation.

LENTINULA: S. So.
LENTINULA: I... don't think I've introduced myself yet?
LENTINULA: I uh. I feel like I caught your name but I also uh.
LENTINULA: Think it didn't stick.
LENTINULA: Sorry. I'm Lentinula though!

Ilex: All good! I don't think I got your name either. I'm Ilex.
LENTINULA: A pleasure to make your acquaintance!
Ilex: Likewise to you! So… what brings you out here on this mission, if you don't mind me asking?
LENTINULA: Oh! Not at all.
LENTINULA: I'm here acting as the liaison for the Echo Collective.
LENTINULA: Well, I was supposed to be one of two but...
LENTINULA: They're waiting up in the town for us. So, they're not here.

Ilex: Cool! I've definitely heard of the Echo Collective before, though I'm not too familiar with their work.
Ilex: As for me, I suppose I'm a scientist and inventor by trade. I'm mainly here to conduct some field testing on my latest invention, as you could probably see earlier.
Ilex: Though I had a few people I know push me into it as well.

The above shenanigans shall continue... next round!

--------------------
I feel like I know what I'm doing the exact half of the time I don't need to.

Sakura has obtained the VICTORY. It was all her. She dealt all the damage, and killed all the enemies. Definitely not everyone else. You see, with a sample size of two battles, she has proven the theorem that the greater proportion of Sakura to the party, the greater the odds of success. Fifteen-something people on an airship? Assured defeat. Eight people in a field? EASY.

But now, a choice! Sakura steps onto (Z53), deciding to trailblaze through the snow. Something is driving her onward to explore, despite her royal urges to sit down and wait for everyone else to solve her problems. Or maybe she just wants dibs on whatever loot she can find. What if someone responsible like Basil found a priceless artifact and actually KEPT it? Such a fate could not be tempted.

...Ah, also. Sakura decides to boost her SKI with her shiny new skill point. Every attack she misses is (25-25) points of Psychic Damage to the skull.

Alicia has been given an important task. She's been given the Scanner. She advances to I14, points the gun-looking thing at Fell Beast 1, and pulls the trigger. Metaphorically. Or, perhaps, literally.

ALICIA: Beep, beep-beep be-beep b-b-b-b-beep.

As someone wicked, fundamentally, I disagree. One may always repent. I may have done terrible things in the past. That's why I help this coward now.

<ROUND 15>

Debbie creates a new bone construct! And also +1s her HP. The freshly created Gorged-simulacrum aids the Yggcrawler skeleton in setting up a tent near the frozen pond.

Bass eyes the new construction and raises his hand to the Gorged-simulacrum for a high five.

BASS: lets gorillaing go my guy
BASS: this place looks awesome
BASS: we got a fishing minigame and everything
BASS: maybe that hexagon robot dude will come back when he hears
BASS: and one shot the giant whale with a foam harpoon like hes captain ahab

CHI: Captain... Who?
BASS: some human dude
CHI: And you know this, why?
BASS: chloe left me some
BASS: "historical research documents"
BASS: i havent finished that one yet no spoilers

Meanwhile, Debbie explores further to the southeast. She enters a pocket of forest, from which a number of Grey Iti immediately poke their heads (and/or floating head-like body parts) to observe her. The assembled Iti all stare warily at the newcomer, but make no attempt to attack, although it’s clear they are uncomfortable with the queen’s presence. One Seeker hisses like a cat at Debbie before nearly toppling off a tree branch.

Finally, the reanimated crew head off to go logging. The results of their work will be obtained… next round.

Keane joins in the logging effort. :keanechop:

Eroa commits the something on Sakura. I don’t have anything to add to this, but I just thought it was worth mentioning.

Ilex gains +1 RES, and rebalances his special a bit. He feels more powerful, and also less powerful due to no longer having a modifier he shouldn’t have had.

He also chats up Lentinula, disengaging the Gorged from his arm with a game of fetch in the process. Careful, though; it will no doubt expect more attention when it returns, if you’re still around.

Sakura +1s her SKI! She also does some exploring. Unfortunately, Debbie has beaten her to the southeast, no doubt pilfering all of the treasure there, so I have made the executive decision to send her northeast instead.

There, she finds a scrapyard of some kind, filled with abandoned metal parts buried in the snow – including one device that looks almost functional, although it’s hard to tell. How did this junk get here? Is this where the Gorged nabbed that Entropic Key look-alike? Iti tracks lead away from the area, so perhaps anything of value here was looted already… Or perhaps not.

<THE WRECKAGE>

The last of the beavers are defeated on fast-forward mode, and their loot is obtained. As the battle wraps up, the sun begins to near the horizon, turning the cold sky a vibrant array of oranges, yellows, and reds. Chi hurries over from her own battle to the victors.

CHI: Is everyone alright? I'm sorry I couldn't be there...
CHI: I should be able to patch up any lingering wounds those nasty beasts left.

R-8733: Not to worry, boss! Those guys were no match for the power of explosions.
R-8733: ...We should probably get inside soon, though, eh?

Soon indeed.

Stats: +1 KP to HP again.

Oh.

Oh.
Well.
Uh.
Debbie found herself approaching a grey iti nest. On seeing them, she stops in her tracks, not making any sudden movements that would startle them.

DEBBIE: ...okay. um.

Under normal circumstances, Debbie would simply drive dangerous animals off with intimidating bangs and earthquakes or kill them outright if they persisted.

She can't do either to these ones.

It was obvious that iti, grey or purple, don't respond to any sort of intimidation, and the vast majority of the party has unanimously decided not to harm them if at all reasonable. Though, the poor things were likely being hunted down by the purples for whatever reason... chasing them off would likely result in them either being chased into purple iti, or worse, the Fey and their commanding trickery that they pulled back on the airship.

Naturally, Debbie slowly backs away from the nest. It would be a horrible idea to push any further. She immediately goes looking for someone who might be of assistance in the matter.

(note to serp: the last few lines of this spoiler are respondable)

Debbie & Skylar
With the discovery of the grey iti nest, Debbie logically tries to find one of the other, allied grey iti. Paige seemed preoccupied as she passed by, so she seeks out her partner in thyme, Skylar. She thinks it was last seen close to the crash site…

Something rapidly skitters underfoot, and Debbie stubs her toe on cold metal. After a frantic shuffle, Skylar scuttles up onto a nearby tree stump and pivots to face her, knifelike forelegs scratching grooves into the wood.

SKYLAR: OOF
SKYLAR: MY APOLOGIES
SKYLAR: I AM NOT USED TO BEING SO CONSISTENTLY UNDERFOOT
SKYLAR: IS EVERYTHING ALL RIGHT [USER: Miss “Debbie” Debonair]?

In spite of the initial shock, Debbie doesn’t seem all that bothered. She looks down at Skylar and nods in response.

DEBBIE: O-oh, yes, everything’s mostly fine.
DEBBIE: Actually, I was looking for you.
DEBBIE: I... discovered a concerningly large nest of grey iti nearby, and was wondering if you would know anything about how to handle them?
DEBBIE: I-I’m... kinda at a loss.

SKYLAR: [hmm.mp3
SKYLAR: A NEST?
SKYLAR: INTRIGUING
SKYLAR: I SHALL HAVE TO SEE FOR MYSELF

Skylar hops off the stump, scrabbles through the high snows fruitlessly for a couple of seconds, and turns back to Debbie.

SKYLAR: [Your driver is arriving in [NaN:NaN]: [Debonair Ward] [Trip: [Landfall] - - - [Grey Den]] [Payment: 520L 89mL]]-
SKYLAR: AHEM
SKYLAR: IT IS.
SKYLAR: A LONG DISTANCE.
SKYLAR: IF YOU DO NOT MIND THE ASKING
SKYLAR: MAY I HITCH A RIDE

DEBBIE: O-oh, sure thing.
DEBBIE: Trudging through snow is... not exactly easy.
DEBBIE: Especially if one’s legs aren’t suited for snow at all.

Debbie lowers herself to about Skylar’s height (or close enough), kneeling such that it could get on anywhere it was willing.

DEBBIE: Okay, climb on!

Skylar scampers up Debbie's arm, perching on her head and carefully crossing its forelimb blades.

SKYLAR: MUCH OBLIGED

As the two begin their trek back to the Grey Den, Skylar continues to pontificate a bit.

SKYLAR: MY DATABASE OF INFORMATION ON THIS TOPIC IS RATHER LIMITED
SKYLAR: AS MAY HAVE BEEN SURMISED [79.6% chance], I WAS NOT ON THE BEST OF TERMS WITH THE SKY LABS SCIENTISTS
SKYLAR: AND BY EXTENSION THE REST OF THE LOCAA GOVERNMENTAL BODY
SKYLAR: HOWEVER, FROM ANECDOTAL AND PERIPHERAL EVIDENCE:
SKYLAR: THERE IS NO REAL CONSISTENT CURVE OF “FERAL” TO “CIVILIZED”
SKYLAR: “LESSER” ITI ARE ON AVERAGE MORE ANIMALISTIC
SKYLAR: THOUGH NOTABLE OUTLIERS EXIST; [one (1) ‘distressingly erudite’ Seeker, one (1) Paigasite “Paige” McZupp-]

Skylar abruptly shuts up. Debbie, who had contentedly been listening to Skylar’s ramblings and mildly confused at the abrupt stop, opts to answer what questions Skylar might’ve had as they float towards their destination.

DEBBIE: I see...
DEBBIE: I... suppose it does make sense that relations would be sour at best, with the whole crisis last year and all.
DEBBIE: It must be very rare, indeed, to have someone... simply listen to what you have to say.
DEBBIE: It’s something I always try to do, so I can get to know people better.
DEBBIE: ...
DEBBIE: B-but I digress.
DEBBIE: I believe the grey iti at the nest are mostly, if not entirely, lessers, and thus more animalistic.
DEBBIE: I knew I couldn’t leave them to their own devices or harm them, but I don’t believe we should displace them either, what with the purple iti clearly trying to wipe them out, and those fey on the prowl for more of them to mind control, and... Sakura, I think was her name?
DEBBIE: I don’t want her to do something murderous or stupid involving them either.
DEBBIE: It’s... i-it’s a complicated situation.

SKYLAR: [Information logged.]
SKYLAR: PERTINENT OBSERVATIONS INDEED
SKYLAR: I HAVE NOT OBTAINED A PROPER READ ON [Yedoensis, Sakura].
SKYLAR: SUCH HOSTILE BEHAVIOR IS LIKELY?

Debbie blinks. Wait, did she accidentally just blurt something out-

DEBBIE: W-wait I didn’t just...

DEBBIE: ...W-well... I-I suppose it was going to crop up sooner or later...
DEBBIE: ...Yes. I do consider her a threat in that aspect, from her... very open desire to kill the grey iti in our previous battle, only refraining from doing so because our group would, correctly, strongly dislike it if it were to happen if there was still a way around it.
DEBBIE: Add that to her... attitude, I’m worried about what she’d do - or try to do - behind our backs.

Skylar gently taps one of its forelegs on Debbie’s head, deep in thought- or in some arcane computer process, perhaps. The sensation is peculiar, not quite painful, but it prickles in odd waves across Debbie’s skin.

SKYLAR: A COMPLEX PROBLEM INDEED
SKYLAR: MOST ARE AWARE OF HER [Classification: ERRATIC] PERSONALITY, CORRECT?
SKYLAR: PRIMARY PRIORITY MAY BE TO UPLIFT THESE ITI
SKYLAR: OR AT LEAST RENDER THEM AWARE THAT YEDOENSIS IN PARTICULAR IS A GREATER THREAT THAN WE ARE

DEBBIE: Those... would likely be our only real options, yes.
DEBBIE: Hm...
DEBBIE: How good are you with diplomatic acts? They may be more willing to listen to another grey iti rather than someone like me.

SKYLAR: …
SKYLAR: MY ATTEMPTS AT DIPLOMACY
SKYLAR: …HAVE NOT GONE WELL.
SKYLAR: HISTORICALLY SPEAKING.

DEBBIE: A-ah... I see.

They soon reach the outside of the nest, where Debbie slows and stops, out of view of the grey iti.

DEBBIE: We’re near the nest.
DEBBIE: I’d likely draw their ire if I go much further. They weren’t exactly... w-welcoming... when I first approached.
DEBBIE: I’m not sure if they’re scared or hungry or what... I-I can’t really tell.
DEBBIE: ...So, what’s the plan?

SKYLAR: PERHAPS IT WOULD BE BEST IF I RELAYED ANY MESSAGES YOU MIGHT HAVE
SKYLAR: THE IMPORTANT MESSAGE IS TO REITERATE HOW WE ARE NOT A THREAT, OF COURSE
SKYLAR: THEY ARE IDEALLY MORE LIKELY TO TRUST A FELLOW GREY ITI

Debbie nods.

DEBBIE: That works for me.
DEBBIE: We’ll need to be careful, though. The situation may be volatile.
DEBBIE: ...Thinking about it further, though, t-they may still hear me communicating with you if I’m out of sight.
DEBBIE: Do you happen to have anything to help with that?

SKYLAR: BUT OF COURSE
SKYLAR: ENABLING COMMUNICATION IS MY SPECIALTY

Skylar hops down off of Debbie’s shoulders, rears up- and breaks into an immediate coughing fit. Or, y’know, the robotic equivalent. After a few last coughs, Skylar hacks loudly, and a small radio stuck in a blob of neon-blue pasta sauce splatters onto the ground.

They both stare at it for some moments.

SKYLAR: …IT WAS CLEANER WHEN I BUILT IT
DEBBIE: Oh, that should be easy to clean. Let me just...

Debbie sets herself down on the ground, and with a slight motion of her right leg, a stream of Fluidsand begins sandblasting the pasta sauce off the radio until it’s cleaned off. Not the most clean cleaning method, but it works for now. She then takes the radio and examines it- it’s not the most high-tech thing, and it seems to have fairly limited range.

SKYLAR: THIS IS A MUCH LESS POWERFUL MODEL THAN WAS USED IN MY BRIEF CONTRIBUTION TO RESOLVING THE SPHERE CRISIS
SKYLAR: THIS NEW THYMEFIELD WOULD ALMOST CERTAINLY INTERFERE WITH THE INTRICATE MECHANICS OF THE PASTA BUFF TRANSMISSION NANOMACHINES
SKYLAR: I DOUBT SUCH A POWERFUL EFFECT WOULD BE POSSIBLE TO PURSUE THIS EARLY
SKYLAR: I ASSUME YOU ARE FAIRLY PROFICIENT IN RADIO OPERATIONS?

DEBBIE: Adequate enough. I used similar when communicating with our more technologically advanced allies back home.

Just to be sure, though, she fiddles with the radio and tests it out a few times to make sure she has everything understood.
DEBBIE: Okay, we should be good to go.
DEBBIE: Start with a simple greeting once they’re aware of you. We’ll adapt from there.

SKYLAR: ROGER.

Skylar scuttles off into the Den, coming to a quick stop by the entrance so as to get out quickly if things go wrong. It addresses the Grey Iti softly.

SKYLAR: …GREETINGS?

---

Unfortunately for Bass, the Gorged simulacrum doesn't hi-five Bass. It appears to be little more than a vessel.

Though, isn't something akin to a hi-five considered risque in Chairian culture? Might have something to do with it. And maybe it's for the better.

Anyway, eventually, the nearby set of trees is chopped down into fresh logs. They bring a couple closer to the wreck, arranging them in a square centered at about (I17)-ish. While they're there, the Gorged clears out a bit of airship debris around (M15-O17). Debbie, likely passing through, also creates a rocky Rubble fire pit on (I17) with a quick Nature Power cast, and the Yggcrawler arranges 4 logs about 3 tiles from the center, in each of the cardinal directions. Enough room for a couple of party members. It also preps the logs for more comfortable sitting, cleanly slicing off the top layer of bark and being careful not to leave any splinters.

After that, the two constructs run back to get a couple more logs and wood bits for the fire itself. The Gorged creates wood chips for initial lighting, and the Yggcrawler splits some larger bits of wood for more sustained burning.

Along with the twigs that Maria gathered earlier, they return to the fire pit with the materials and construct a fire. The ignition source, of course, is an already burning part of the airship debris.

They wait to see how the campsite and campfire turn out.

Pardon +1 his SPC, bringing it to the next threshold for his Trait and reserves the other Skill Point for later.

He plays a gentle tune for the Wreckage crew to heal their wounds while his Energised recovers his Mana. It’s quite soothing, except it’s also getting dark now. So he cuts his performance short and begins heading to where Debbie is building a Campfire.

Actually maybe he could use the furs to make some blankets with needle and thread??
