>Initiate Contextualizer

The Defaced. Beings comprised of black and red, and existing both in code and in physical form. Dangerous, parasitic creatures that prey on anything they find to be a target, assimilate anything they like into their ranks, and destroy the rest. They believe themselves to be the one true species that should rule all reality. They certainly have enough of a threat level that they could, if given enough time, one day fulfill their beliefs to the detriment of every other living being.

Which is why actions have been taken to stop them before they get the chance. Their main base of operations is difficult to reach as it is both well-hidden and in the past. Difficult is not impossible, however. A strike team consisting of whatever personnel were willing to step forth to combat the menace were put together, with the only requirement being the will to go against whatever may come. They were then sent into the past, traveling backwards through time to the system of Contritum.

Contritum is an unusual system. The local star, Contris, has been fractured by some unfathomable force in a way that leaves both of the halves seperate, yet remaining oddly close to each other. Gravity should be pulling the halves back together, but something is preventing it. Beyond that oddity, the planets are similarly unusual in nature.

Contritum-1, the innermost planet, orbits in such a way that one side of the planet is continuously exposed to Contris, and the other side will never see the light. A strip of twilight runs along the middle of the planet, allowing potential life to exist in the region known as the Broken Star's Edge. By the look of it, life did exist here once - possibly even recently. Or perhaps the city has been better maintained than previously thought. The Defaced prowl the broken streets here, hunting for anything of interest that they can still scavenge from the city. Old, ancient machines of war, still clinging on by iron determination and sheer fortune alone, wage war on them. The conflict is the same no matter which of the six planets one is on, but the warring factions are weakest here. A good starting location.

Regardless, you surely did not come here for a history lesson of a long-dead system, correct? You came here because you want to join in on the operation. You came here because you saw the threat these beings pose, and you're willing to come along and fight them...

Unfortunately, the system is bathed in some sort of debilitating red fog. Glitching code can be seen drifting in the atmosphere of every planet, in the regions around the broken star, even in the space between. The code is everywhere, and it is oppressive. Most of your power will be sealed away here, although understand it is not by our choice. The Defaced have set something up specifically to safeguard their future. But a determined team will not let such inhibition stop them.

Equally unfortunately, the dropship sent to the planet has crashed on the landing pad. It served the necessary function - it carried you here, right to where the action will happen. Do with it what you will. But beware. Your arrival has attracted some attention. The Defaced, at least some of them, are aware of your presence now.

Time to begin.

Rules
1: 2 posts per round max - only the first two will be counted
2: There isn't a charge cap but for sanity reasons it isn't a good idea to go over 25 in this stage of the game

Notable things
1: This is meant to be a more lighthearted session than most, if the phrase "Chillmodder" didn't make that clear already, so please keep that in mind
2: Entities in this game have player-style HP for sanity reasons
3: I might screw up since I'm not that experienced at this

So there's this character creation system that I've gotten quite intrigued by.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7103839...57065468402.pdf

I am admittedly wanting to have the experience of running a DTG session of my own, but I feel like it needs something to make it... different. Having a character creation system for it would easily qualify, and since I like this one, I wanna use it. Only problem is, it... happens to give players WAAAAAAAY too much stats from the get-go, and some of the stronger-tier things are extremely powerful compared to low-end items. So, I'mma need some help figuring out the balance, and I also need to know something.

Would that creation system work better for a semi-standard DTG game, or something more like DTG-meets-Outpost-Defenders, if anyone remembers that?
