ARCHITECT'S FOLLY

Welcome to Architect's Folly, the puzzle / adventure / mystery / [insert applicable genre] game run by The_Serpent. This game does ostensibly take place in the DTG multiverse for continuity reasons (whether reboot or main canon doesn't really matter considering it's not intended to strictly be canon), but it isn't actually within canon unless that changes for some odd reason. Moreover, it is not a DTG game and will not play like one. While most DTG forum games favor large numbers of players, silly antics, and freeform plot, this game will have a plot that is structured but still improvisational. I won't be writing every single plot event down and I will be letting players guide the general path of things, but there are locations and events I have thought of beforehand that you will be guided towards.

This game also won't work extremely well with a large number of players. As such, I'd like to draft around six to... maybe ten players at most in this thread to be consistent players of the game. To play, I'd like you to be able to contribute with decent consistence, as each player will have a particular set of skills that may make situations easier for the others. If you can't contribute during an update span, that's fine, and someone else can take control of your actions that update (or I may delay updating if it's easier for me too), but if you are going through a tough patch and aren't able to play, hand the role off to someone else who wants to play.

If the event occurs that more than a range of 6-8-10 people want to play, players will be selected on a mix of first-come first-serve and how much I trust you. This is not a democracy. If someone who I know and like shows up a second after someone who I barely see and who likes to derail games, I will pick the person I like. That doesn't mean I'll be a dick to you and exclude you just because we never talk, just that I won't include people who I know are disruptive (which thankfully isn't many in this community). I don't expect this to be an issue because usually stuff like this doesn't attract that much attention (if it does, cool). I may pick less than ten people if I want to.

Updates to the game will occur hopefully at least once a day, maybe more if people are super active, maybe less if my own schedule is constraining or other people are having scheduling issues.

Rules:
1. Don't be an ass. Self-explanatory.
2. Don't try to PVP. This is not that type of game. "Combat" encounters will likely be sparse anyhow.
3. Don't try to derail the plot. Exploring hidden areas or trying unforeseen tactics is not derailing the plot. Setting fire to a staircase because you feel like it and then trying to collapse the building you're in, suicidally, is derailing the plot.
4. Don't question my decisions. This is not a democracy. This is totalitarianism. If you really have an issue with something I did, talk to me on Discord.
5. No powergaming (controlling others' characters) unless they've given you express permission for that update because they can't post.
6. Please play my game I'm scared no one wants to play it ok thanks

The door slides open with a mechanical hiss. Your eyes snap open simultaneously, all startled by the sudden dim light flooding in from a flickering bulb in the adjoining room.

You don't remember how you got into the storage closet. Crammed into a tight space together with no food or water and little air, you surely would have died if you were there for very long. Unfortunately, you don't remember much of anything at all. The more genre savvy ones among you might say they recognize this as a textbook amnesia plot, and you can't quite say if they're right or not. All you know is that you are free now. And that you have a Mission. Something of utmost importance. If only you could remember what it was.

The room next to you appears to be some sort of office or secretarial room. In the corner is a musty desk with numerous papers on it and an old, rotting chair. File cabinets line the walls of the room. One piece of furniture, although it has the shape of a cabinet, appears much stranger. It is made of a sleek black metal, in much better shape than the rest of the room, and ten clear jars are fastened to its shelves with metal claws. Inside the jars, a rainbow gas sparks and fizzes in a volatile manner. Some sort of keypad or interface glows on the right side of the contraption.

A door leads out, but it appears to be jammed on some sort of sticky substance coating the floor of the exit.
