Well, it would appear that me, tazz and darkside are locked in the tree trunk.
See the rest of you guys after we finish roaming around.
I think we have an okay loadout, there's me with my sniper class, tazz as a striker, and darkside acting as the resident tank. I think we'll be okay, and if that's not enough, we have all the random crap I looted from random places.

Darkside, remember the woodshards, I expect there to be Rooting enemies in there, and you can use the splinters to draw aggro away from me and tazz.

This is why you need to scale the thing; close-range shields. Or you can jump on the pillar again and attack it. Simply jumping up won't let you deal as much damage, though.

Willow, with her enchanted... claws... swipes across the top of the pilliar to damage the scale. Then she drops down to the ground and flashes some green electrical looking power, causing the scale to get hit serveral more times with pulses of force seeming to come out nowhere, like her claw had been invisibly repeated.

Sadly, I'm no longer on 42 posts anymore...

Tazz first purchases Chaos Log 2. It has been placed next to the Temmie Shop. Tazz then casts Enchant Weapon on Willow for the DPS! He then enters the hollow of the Great Tree. Darkside then runs in after him, and with Piono already inside, a thick wall of sap appears between the entrance to the tree and the outside. A vine descends from above, and you all climb it, and emerge inside of the Great Tree...

Numbersoup heads east, towards the Outside of the Shack. As the name implies, a shack is within walking distance of this zone. What appears to be an altar (grave?) and a hanging cage are within the area, as well as EVEN MORE GOLD. There's also a bit of gold lying next to the altar, too; surely you wouldn't take that?

Engie and Redstone then both attempt ranged attacks on the Crimstone Scale; these only serve to bounce off of the shield, which (thankfully) also protected Willow. Willow then OBLITERATES the Crimson Scale, sending fragments of it across the area. Another scale down.

=BATTLE: INSIDE TREE TURN ZERO=

Piono, Tazz and Darkside have entered the Tree's Hollow, and have emerged in the Great Tree! Be careful as you advance; there's plenty of tough new enemies!

You walk to an area outside of a shack. You can see some VINES, a HANGING CAGE with a boney hand sticking out of it, a GOLD VEIN that appears to have a block of TNT rigged to it, and an ALTAR with some gold laying next to it.

You could go NORTH to enter an unknown area, EAST to go inside the shack, or head back WEST to get to the river again.

What will you do?


Who's talking to me? And why would someone leave their gold on an altar like that?

I should pick it up for being there, but i'm not sure why the altar has it next to them.

I guess i'll examine it further to see if there's something i'm missing.


You take a harder look at the ALTAR. It's made of stone, and looks to be the grave of somebody. Maybe the gold was theirs?

Thanks for telling me that. I'm not sure what to do, and i'm not sure if I can just take it without something happening.

Maybe I should check something else, like that block of TNT next to the other gold.

Hm. I wonder how the TNT would even trigger...

Question, do explosions count as fire? If not... we're screwed. (I totally should by the way, explosions use fire.) The only way we're surviving this is if I can get that x3 bonus, because all the tree enemies seem to do upwards of 6 damage a round. And have way too much health.

darkside! Before you make your move, would you mind editing your post and using your telekinesis to move me to D8? If he does that, I move to E7 and take a potshot at the treeshooter from behind the barricade that keeps it from being able to even see me. If he fails to do so, I move to D7 instead and wish I had just one more move point.
Okay, scratch that plan since ire's going to move the tree shooter up next to the barricades. I move up to G9 to get out of the stupid thing's way, and wait for everything else to be dead so we can bash its face in.

Anyways, I have one final question? Would it be possible to use an item and reload in the same round, or to use two of the same item in one round? Because other wise some of the items are next to useless in most contexts (cough cough, the SPIDERWEBS) and if not, could you up the duration of the spider web's effect to 2 rounds so that its actually possible to take advantage of that item?

Okay, tazz, darkside. I think we should finish off the spiders first, I'll take a potshot at the tree shooter from around the corner once I can get up there, and after that hit it should be to low enough health for one of you two to finish it, in the between the hit on the tree shooter and the spiders, deal with the tree guard since the tree shooter has a fixed range due to being a turret, meaning that I can hit it from behind cover until one of you can get close enough to dispatch it.

Don't forget about the Fireball Scrolls; they'll be your saving grace. And no, explosions are not fire. Anyway, modified Spider Webs to be 2 turns of Root, and fixed a couple of things.

To begin, Insert heads to the area outside of the shack, and waves his hands at the gold. Nothing happens, strangely enough. Redstone then runs up to the grave, and takes the 2 units of Gold. And if that wasn't bad enough, he then digs up the grave, and finds...

Nothing. Strangely enough.

Redstone feels a sense of dread overtake him; something is watching. Why wasn't there anything in the grave? Maybe you should examine the altar. Pit then moves to the area outside of the shack, and examines the area around the trapped gold vein. There doesn't seem to be any sort of on-ground sensor or anything like that. Numbersoup confirms this with a wave of water from a bucket, ensuring that there's no tripwires on the ground or anything like that. She then heads up to the TNT and takes it for herself. x1 TNT Block obtained. However, you hear the telltale sound of pistons; you must've activated a BUD switch?

But whatever the switch did, the effects aren't immediately obvious...
Engie then appearifies himself outside the shack, and looks at the skeletal hand danglig from the cage. It's not animate; that's clear enough. However, now that you're looking at the cage, you can see traces of Redstone on the vine holding it up. Odd.

=BATTLE: INSIDE TREE TURN ONE=
Everything is going fine, so far. While Tazz has been rooted, one of the Glitch Spiders is already nearly dead. I'd finish it off ASAP. Now decide: do you want to free Tazz and lose an attack this turn, or heal him and hope he lives?
