Here are all the animations I've made for DTG. This forum doesn't allow .gif avatars. Boo.

Wilson at the Start

user posted image
This was one of my first animations with After Effects. You can probably tell because of the low framerate and somewhat conflicting art styles. The original picture is here.

Wilson at the End of DTG2

user posted image
Sadly, I can't find the original image anymore. Looks like he changed quite a bit between this .gif and the last.

Edit- Wait! Found it!

Act 5 Teaser 1

Act 5 Teaser 2

user posted image
Not that proud of this one.

Gail

user posted image
Original art is on a page in... French located right here.

Door Teaser Thing

user posted image
When she came to a set of two open doors, Gail entered the door on her left.

Cynder

user posted image
Modeling my characters after actual game characters makes finding base art for them WAY easier. Original art is here

Inari

user posted image
Not all wolves howl at the moon. Some howl at the sun. Sadly, this got really compressed because of .gif-ness. I could potentially upload to Youtube where their videos are not .gif files, but then it wouldn't loop.

Oh yeah, art was found right here.

Gail Sidequest Teaser Thing

When all hope seems lost, and you can't go on, there is one thing we can always do...

Give up.

user posted image

Made from images found here, here, and here. This is one of my favorite animations. It turned out pretty well.

Animations Irrelevant to DTG. Mostly for my practice.
user posted image

Original picture by Haychel and is found here.

I picked this because I wanted to try using colorama (which is what causes the aura effects). I'm also using a new form of ripple where I set the transparency of the mask to 50 or 60%.
I don't expect anyone to comment on this. But go ahead and comment if you want. Well, if you want me to animate something, you can post that down below. I enjoy animating stuff. Plus, it's more practice. Or something.

Pretty sweet, I can't think of anything I want you to animate right now to be honest, but these are pretty cool.

Must... animate... stuff...

Anyway, I've decided that Inari has a disappointing lack of character compared to all my other guys, so I want to rectify that. First step is making an animation.

So, what happens when you run out of your own characters to animate?

Well, mostly. Technically, it's what Takeru looks like. Because I have no artistic talent on my own, I take advantage of the fact that no character design is original and get something from DeviantArt for the base. Sheltiewolf is way better at drawing than I am. And hey, if they don't specifically say "please do not redistribute", it's not copyright abuse, right?

But yes, for reference, that is what she looks like. Usually. I think the problem with that animation is the contrast between the red and brown. .gifs can only use 255 colors (+ transparent), so most of the colors got used up on various shades of red and orange.

Mikoto is now the only one of my characters who doesn't have an animation, partly because finding art for him will be the most difficult out of the five. Now, I can animate either scene or requests by other people. What I've done now will hopefully be a scene for Gail's sidequest. I want to make another one for Cynder's sidequest, but finding art that just happens to work together for it is rather difficult.

Well, turns out posts can only have up to 10 images max. So, I need to a new post. Here:

You thought that Ascendant Wilson/Laiko was his strongest form, but NO! Behold! The true power of Wilson!

Spoiler Alert

user posted image
I present to you, Rapper Wilson! Otherwise known as what would have happened if he had gotten the shot of liquid meme rather than CogWynd.

I found the art and decided it was too good to pass up. I would have put him on a background, but it would have made there be too many colors and the .gif quality would turn out looking awful.

Nerdy Hearthstone Stuff

user posted image
You practically can't tell it isn't a real card! I would actually like this kind of card design in Hearthstone. I stated him so that he would trade with Dr. Balanced (mostly anyway. Wilson would die and leave 2 0/1s and a 0/7.) I like how this hard counters many deathrattle effects. On the other hand, he can be stopped pretty effectively by a Goldshire Footman. What might tip this into being OP is the fact that he has the beast tag, which means hey, control beast hunter? Of course, even if it is OP in that situation, control hunter deserves it. They pretty much just have Highmane and... nothing else. There's no really good beast that costs 7 mana or above. There's also possibilities of using this in a warlock self silence deck, but I doubt it. Silencing him doesn't give all that much extra value when compared to something like a Deathlord.

He'd probably be better if I made him a four drop or so and gave him taunt. Then he'd be awesome against face hunters with their Leaper Gnomes and Mad Scientists and would still encourage control hunter. ... Yeah, he'd be way better then. But I already made the card, so too late now.

Kai + Talist. This animation is a little different...
user posted image

Thanks to Trainguy for the wolf rig and Rymdnisse for the player/sword rig. There, now it's no longer copyright infringement.

This took me about 6 or 7 hours in Blender to figure out how to do it, not counting the time it took to get accentuated with Blender itself. And I spent a whole hour getting Kai's tail to go back and forth like that. And of course, I picked these two characters because I could find models for them that I didn't need to change besides altering the textures a little. Minecraft is such a good starting point for animators. The characters are (relatively) easy to animate and texture, plus it feels really nice once it actually works.

Do any of you have a 3DS? And in the Mii Plaza, if you get a whole panel of puzzle pieces, it unlocks a 3D animation. I suppose I'm going for that style, the 3D equivalent of Hearthstone cards with rather slow, deliberate actions and seamless looping.

But of course, there are some kind of screwy things about this animation. ... Specifically, the eyes and the sword are... weird. I'll have to get better with those.

And next, I hope to edit the wolf model some so it can work for my other characters, like Wilson and Gail. Actually reworking the UVs for the texture is going to be hard...

...

There is something so incredibly satisfying about just watching an animation you've made loop over and over and over...

Haha! I have discovered a new dimension of animation!

So that's what Talist looks like? Hm.

Wow, suddenly I feel really strange about differentiating between the in-universe and out-of-universe versions of ourselves.

Ah, so that's a Minecraft representation of Kai? That's cool! I always thought of her as a realistic wolf, but this is a good 3D!

Well, if you want to be real technical, that's my most commonly used Minecraft skin. So yeah, for all extents and purposes, it's Talist. TwinBuilder has actually used it in art once before.

Also, that skin is a customized Steve skin. I made it shortly after the DreamScape quest, so it's actually slightly based on Wilson. And apparently, I'm physic. I made the skin have that kind of mask/scarf thing a year or so ago, not realizing that it would be SO INCREDIBLY HELPFUL for blender animation. Why? It covers up the character's mouth, so I didn't have to fiddle around getting that to look right.

All my characters are technically from Minecraft, given how DTG 0, 1, and 2 were all in Minecraft. Kai is canonically from DTG 1 with a little presence in 0. But even if she wasn't, I would have wanted to render her all voxelated like that anyway. Minecraft is (relatively) easy to animate and texture, but I do know of a more realistic wolf model I could maybe use. And in DTG, we've had an unspoken rule where Minecraft characters magically get more polygons when they're no longer in a Minecraft world. If they want to, anyway.

Now I'm off to try and make the wolf model look like Wilson. Going to have to edit the texture and bones... Anyway, I also found a ton of Pokemon models, pirated straight from the games! Oh boy! So, now I can animate ANYTHING. ... As long as it's either Minecraft or Pokemon and doesn't take much model editing. ... Say... isn't Twitchy based on a Scarmory?

So if you want me to try and make a Minecraft based animation, send me the skin. ... Yes... yes... GIVE ME YOUR SKIN! Not creepy out of context at all.

Edit- Breakthrough! I decided I didn't have the patentence to watch a 20 minute Youtube video on what vertex groups are, so I spent about an hour and a half figuring it out for myself. Turns out, they're actually pretty cool.

Not an animation
user posted image

This is my attempt to modify the wolf model to make it fit Wilson. If it looks alright, I'm probably going to make an animation of him in his shop.

Oh, and for the sake of crediting, yes. Wolf rig by Trainguy and I got that skin from a Minecraft Texture Pack called Fox Craft, but I swapped around the colors and edited it in Photoshop.

Rymdnisse for the blocks and potion rigs
Fox Craft for the original skin
And... uh... Blender for... well... Blender. It's actually completely free to download, which surprised me.

I ascend to the rank of triple posting! HAHA! Although, I tried to go much more complicated on this one. And... I don't think it turned out too well. Wilson is really floaty. It's just that... uh... he's really good at manipulating gravity. Yeah.

Tell me what you think. If you like. I think it's better and easier for me to stick with the more "animated trophy" style.

Next up, I'm going to be trying to model Gail and Mikoto. Either that, or I'll animate an attack against UserZero or something.

Edit- Within 3 minutes of me posting this, there are already 3 people reading it. Huh...

So, my thought is: the last jump back to the original position seemed a little off, but other than that, the speed off each individual limb is the only 'issue'.
You're doing REALLY well for a newbie at blender.

The (probably not) long awaited sequel to that Kai + Talist trophy animation!

Fragment of the Song attack

https://youtu.be/TlnSv6CxH5g

Yeah, sorry. This one couldn't be converted into a .gif without looking terrible.

I'm going to be using this in the next few days as part of Kai's attack on Richard over on TvT. Don't tell Tabbune. Plus, it was a way to try out simple particle and rigid body effects. So now I know how to throw people into walls and make simple explosions! The power of Blender COMPELS THEE!

I had to actually make Richard's "hitbox" a wedge shape with the point facing towards the wall. When it was just a plain rectangle, it would get some of the stone blocks stuck and glitched out in the wall.

I'm going to have to work out how to get more control over the smoke and how to change the color of fire.

...

I'm getting better... I should have made Kai jump higher to give her more room to flip. It goes a little weird at the end. Uzi is going to face the power of BLENDER!

I probably have a head start in skill at Blender animation because I already know about things like keyframes, dope sheets, and V-curves (I think that's what they're called) from After Effects.

Oh, you can probably guess this, but thanks to Trainguy for the wolf rig and Rymdnisse for the player/axe rig. The Rymdnisse set has a wolf rig in it that has more varied facial expressions, but I prefer Trainguy's one because it bends more naturally around its body.

After seeing this I thought it was a shame that there wasn't a Richard skin that we knew of. So I made one. And then Crystal made a better one so I'm posting that one instead.

Yeah, I just used the default Steve one because I didn't have a skin for Richard. But thanks for that skin. I'll make sure to download it and put it into my resources folder. It will help a lot for beating him up.
