I repeat my action with the tape wraith. Until redstone and insert repent, they shall tank all my damage for me.
I load the metal cage into the slingshot. Someone else mind firing it at Hate3 to cover teag? Also, when annoying comes into range of the slingshot, I'm going to cast Augment on the slingshot. Then we're going to launch darkside at it. Or if he disagrees with that plan, the wooden desk. I want to save the stone grave and TNT for the sleuth. Also, ire, we CAN disassemble the slingshot at the end of the fight to use them in later fights, right? I mean, just so long as it doesn't get trashed. Requiring two actions to load and fire in addition to being static and requiring a full action to set up seems like a decent trade-off to me. I like the idea that I'm carrying around a makeshift siege engine in the group inventory now. Originally posted on 2015-11-10 03:08:00 -------------------- Once upon a time there was a story...

Well, I can't see any of the text on the Google Doc right now, so instead it's time to explain some of my consumer habits. Possibly because I stupidly overvalue my defiance and disagreeableness, I refuse to play, support, or like any game solely because it's popular. And support includes buying it. I have nothing against a game just because it's popular (I play and like Minecraft and Hearthstone, both of which are basically the games of their specific genre), but I usually only buy a game if I see a video of it and independently decide that I might like it, which means I'm less likely to get those "you're supposed to go in blind" kinds of games like Undertale without a very good reason. And, sadly for Undertale, I already have a bias against it for one specific feature (although I might be wrong about this...). I first heard about it on the Co-Optional Podcast and they talked about how on your first play through, you're probably going to get the bad ending and someone ends up dying. Fair enough. But they said that if you replay the game and do everything right this time, the final boss is still going to tell you off for restarting the game and is going to block you from getting the best ending. A lot of people seem to think that how Undertale uses its media to its advantage like that is cool, but I thought it was terrible. Once I played Don't Starve myself and ended up dying on day 22 or something to a random Treeguard, I realized I dislike games that force your mistakes to be permanent and very damaging. Most of the time, that ends up making me feel like I got screwed over by RNG or fell into a trap I had no way of knowing about. I don't want to have to reinstall the game just to fix my mistakes. I know some people like that tension, but to me, it's just stressful. I don't want my games to be stressful. I have plenty of AP class tests to do that for me (I have one tomorrow in fact... should probably not be wasting so much time writing this...). I do plan on having a "Wrong" way to solve my sidequest, but I don't want to have one "Right" way that players can easily miss. And I'll try to keep from being what I hate by (hopefully) giving enough clues for people to work out what the "Wrong" ways are and how to avoid them. The path of righteousness is not always the right path... So... anyone other than Tazz? Would anything above this level of complexity disinterest you? And, saying that I want to make a sidequest like this is rather misleading because the only real thing I want to copy from it is the fact it's a grid based strategy. I am completely certain that that never happens. That's not even a thing. And isn't Don't Starve a roguelike, where death is just another way to progress? Albeit in a slightly less effective matter. Anyways, something vaguely along those lines happens, where if you get the literal worst ending, one you have to actively try and keep trying to get, then there are consequences that kind of ruin the best ending. Keep in mind most people aren't going to go for a run this terrible as their first anyways.
Anyways, I just repent. If I can, I go to f9, bonk the Regret again, and then run off to H10. Originally posted on 2015-11-10 03:31:00 |

Guys, I have a plan. When the zone boss appears, load the cabin into the slingshot, then fire it at the zone boss.

Temptation to completely re-class rising. I'll just take the Shadowstalker for now. ...shouldn't I have 27 max health? Also, can we change skills? Originally posted on 2015-11-10 14:18:00 |

I agree to the launching of myself at Annoying whenever the time comes. It'll be an awesome launch, I'll tell ya.
In which case, I move to (L6) and guard! Again! If I'm gonna be up close and personal behind enemy lines, I need to be in good shape. Originally posted on 2015-11-10 20:48:00 -------------------- "...I will aid them. No matter the cost to myself."

@talist: that podcast lied to you. The only way you can get the good ending barred from you permanently is by killing absolutely everyone in the game. I don't mean by killing everyone you meet, I mean by actively searching out every last monster and slaughtering them wholesale.
You don't seem like the kind of person that would do that to me. I mean, yes, there's a few lines of dialogue from a particular character that change between play-throughs depending on what you've done previously, but it doesn't effect the gameplay aspect of it, and I ended up watching a Lets Play since I don't have time to actually play it myself. It makes use of the fourth wall as a little bit of a story element, but unless you go out to be an absolute monster (the name of the ending that permanently wrecks your game is called the Genocide Ending by the way) you aren't going to be able to permanently wreck anything for yourself. One thing I WILL warn you about, don't kill the final boss. He gives you hints on how to get the True ending if you keep him alive, so no matter how much you hate him, keeping him alive is the best policy. I mean, considering who you are, you'll probably end up figuring it out anyways on your own, but it might make your life easier. As for spoilers... you don't have to go in blind to enjoy the game, but I will say this: the first run through, either playing it yourself or watching a let's play of it, is a lot more fun if you haven't looked stuff up yet. I learned that the hard way. EDIT: okay engie, I sort of like that plan because of the wicked damage, but I think we still need the stuff inside it, so I say we don't use it as ammo until we've checked the computer's files. @darkside: alright, it's settled. Question, can we temporarily have you shape-shift into a dwarf so that we can call it dwarf-tossing? @Piono ...I just realized something... dragon dwarf. 10/10. I'd be like a classic dwarf, but have the complexes of a dragon. So heck yes I'll do that. I'll also throw in me spinning around with my axe extended to chop him as well as knock him out cold potentially. Also while breathing fire. For free. (Of course, if you don't like the dragon dwarf idea, I'll just go for regular dwarf. I'm not picky.) Ahah, didn't I say that I was going to make it even more deadly and awesome? I don't care if I'm going to suffer recoil damage or not; it's worth it! Originally posted on 2015-11-11 00:13:00 -------------------- "...I will aid them. No matter the cost to myself."

I could augument you instead of myself for the possibility of 2.25x damage, but that might be a bit overkill. Then again, there is no overkill. Originally posted on 2015-11-11 01:39:00 |

@darkside, I love that idea even more.
@toast: dude, that's our plan now. First round Annoying is targetable, darkside loads himself into the catapult, me and toast cast augment on darkside and the slingshot, doubly ensuring we can't miss as well as giving us a nice damage multiplier, and then someone else finishes the maneuver by firing the slingshot and giving Annoying a faceful of angry, fire-breathing dorf. =TURN THIRTY-EIGHT=
Rough turn today. Insert was taken on the Slam Jam Train, thus causing him to die. Teag and Numbersoup are in a bit of a tough spot; but due to YASM (yet another silly mistake), Numbersoup gains a DOUBLE ACTION this turn! (You had status resistance but I forgot to account for that.) The Slingshot is loaded (and slightly damaged), so go and use it! You can repair it with Floorboards: +1 HP per 2 boards. The pillar between you and the Annoying Memory looks fragile; perhaps you could shoot straight through it? Also, somebody should go and tap Joyous 2; she(?)'s getting lots of heals off. I then listen to some sick Kazoo Jams. aw yiss ...due to a massive mistake that has altered life and death, a free Life Bottle has been given out. =ENDLESS DESERT= Piono repeats his "tank" action, but Insert repents, freeing him of his meatshieldy task! Tazz and Redstone are still there to facetank, though. They both take (4) damage worth of tapebolts. Originally posted on 2015-11-11 04:00:00 -------------------- |

So it looks like we can shoot through the pillar. That makes life much simpler. Now, should we fire the cage first, or should I load myself onto the thing along with the cage? No idea what to do in this situation. Mostly due to lack of info, really. Course of action?

Toast moves to J3 and yells out heartily:
"I'VE GOT A HUUUUGE GUN!" (Toast is a dwarf. A dwarf sniper. Deal with it.) He then fires his huge gun at Hated1 before retreating to the fortifying hex at K3. Music: Song That Might Play When You Fight sans. @darkside just jump in the slingshot and piono will fire you I guess. If the Augument doesn't apply to landing on people you got some extra firepower next turn. @Ire so I can only change my Attributes once? If so, I might just hold onto what I got for a bit. EDIT: Forgot to edit. Thanks engie. Originally posted on 2015-11-11 07:12:00 |

I Repent, kind of...and then practice my Exorcism on the Tape Wraith. I begin by asking the Tape Wraith what he wants out of life so badly that he came back from the dead just to achieve it?
as for the battle...I head to 3F, shuriken Joyous 2 at long last, and just hang around to make sure the Annoying is put down after that ridiculous Slingshot ploy succeeds/fails. Originally posted on 2015-11-11 18:13:00 |
