Hey all you nerds and nerdettes. It's been a while since I've posted here much. So... partly on a whim, I decided to make this game. This is mostly a test for me to see if I can manage a DTG game and if I enjoy it, while also to test out some ideas I've had. Expect this to be a pretty short game, if it finishes at all, that is. With that out of the way, welcome to Destroy the Snobmodder.

Look at the second post for rules and stuff.

Most Recent EOTB

The Deviant Shipping Crate looks around in fear and anger, realizing that humanity hates its very existence and it can never integrate with any kind of society. Something like that. Standard procedure for NPCs to not attack on their first turn of existence. Though, it also gets demoted a few places down the turn order. I'm realizing that player aligned entities should probably attack first.

Harry is best at physical attacks, because Rogue boosts his physical damage. But he can still attack without direct violence. And suddenly, he is gone. There's another perk of being a rogue. Who needs invisibility spells when you can vanish into the underbrush? He comes back a little while later, holding a rapier, one quite similar to Victor's, although clearly much older, with many, many more scars, scratches, and dents in it. He leans on it like a cane and whistles to get Victor's attention.

"Hey Vicki, you should probably watch your old stuff better. I remember when you used this back in Mali. Good times, really."

Realizing what he is holding, Victor gets a dangerous look in his eyes and walks up to Harry, blade drawn.

"Disrespectful brat! That sword has seen more glory than you ever will!"

Harry pulls the sword from the ground and makes a show of looking it over and running his finger along the dull and dented blade.

"You saying that our time together had no glory? Hm. Fitting, really."

"It did once you abandoned us. Now return that!"

Victor lunges towards Harry, but he ducks under his arms and dances out of reach.

"No no no! Remember your manners!"

Resigning himself to be unable to catch Harry, Victor stands up straight to hold some authority and holds out his open hand.

"I'm not going to negotiate with the likes of you. Now give it back."

Looking down in sarcastic disappointment, Harry holds the sword by the hilt and starts reaching towards putting it in Victor's palm.

"Oh fine. You never were any fun."

But in an instant, he feints an attack at Victor, making him finch and step back. And in that moment, he hurls the sword like a javelin, letting it sail through the air past Victor.

"You'll need one more expedition to get it back!"

Once he gets back to his senses, Victor turns to watch where it lands, clenching his teeth in anger. But when he turns back to yell at Harry, he's gone.

...

You know, maybe all these RP scenes I write with myself are why updates take so long. This is an attack that would have gotten a creativity boost, but I'm not a player and don't reward myself with that kind of thing. So... Victor takes 5,500 Spirit damage.

The Sha of Rage gets Victor to play a simple maze game. It's so fun! All you do is move the little red square to the end. I'm sure nothing bad could happen. Surprise, it's a JUMPSCARY!!! Victor takes 3,000 spoop damage.

The Deviant Shipping Crate, now in the correct turn order, still does nothing.

Anna rips some wires out of the lights around the shipping yard and plugs them into her Tesla rod, causing it to spark and surge with power, then she leaps at Harry, sending several thousand volts through him with a corresponding several thousand damage. Five and a half thousands, to be exact.

Extremely spooped, Victor freaks out for perfect Youtube bait, stabbing the computer and the Sha of Rage. Maybe don't show that last part on the web though. Well, he levels up. Yay. Gee, I sure do wonder if he's going to live long enough to use his new special attack. I do wonder.

Being the Snobmodder's turn, he takes a moment to laugh, mostly because he gets to use his annoying whistle again, dealing another 1,000 damage to all entities, including his chair, which I forgot to account for last turn. This time though, there does seem to be something happening. Off far in the distance, you can hear a faint sound, one of snarling and soft roars.

There is no particularly grand entrance, but in time you see them, raptors, the kind made famous by a certain line of movies. They're running towards the battle, with a look of odd contentment. There's one at the head of the park, bigger than the rest, and colored a strange dull pink. This was their queen, with a regal, headdress like pattern of feathers upon her head and back. And as she got closer, you could see that there was a peculiar light in her eyes, one that no simple beast held. It was a... hungry type of light, one that was always searching, looking for something. This creature seemed more intelligent than it looked.

The adorned dinosaur walked up to the Snobmodder, a kind of joyful bounce in her step, and bowed her head in a greeting of some kind.

"My reason has tamed even these savage creatures, there is no bound to my unbridled mind!"

Harry, however, looks quite confused.

"Wait, you... how?! This thing was in a cage in London! Who did you pay, and how much?"

The Snobmodder chuckles at that.

"My intellect has saved more than you can claim to have helped. You never did consider those who ended up worse from your 'expeditions'."

Either way, there's now a rather flamboyant pink dinosaur and her little pack here, ready to mess somebody up.

I'm going to try and keep it relatively simple for this. I'll reintroduce the mood mechanic, mostly because I feel like my problem was that I didn't make it obvious enough. Plus, in the original game, this fight is based around that heavily, so that's nice. Some quick explanations of the fight...

First, the Queen is surprisingly emotional. So basically she's Wilson 2.0. Different attacks will set her into different emotions, which will influence how she fights. Like Wilson, I'll use Plutchik's Wheel to determine these. So, Joy, Trust/Admiration, Fear, Surprise, Sadness, Anger, and Pride (well technically anticipation, but that's not a very interesting emotion).

Second, The Queen's Flair does not charge normally. It charges when the PS side exploits the mood advantage.

Finally, each of the other raptors act in different ways as well, favoring one of the three moods.

Hopefully this will work out. FIGHT!

Education. It allows us to reach higher, do more, become greater than we once were. Most importantly, it also lets us sound superior to other people even when the actual title of the class was "Norwegian Pinatas Throughout Time: an Examining into the SocioCultural-Economic Lives of the Underprivileged Elites of Northern Africa". And that, is where you come in. A new threat, the Snobmodder, has claimed one of the central universes in the multiverse as his own, and is terrorizing shipping routes and triggering defensive pacts and yadda yadda yadda. Something something something, go beat him up, for you are a crack team of the cheapest heroes fiction has to offer. Be warned, for he can be extremely boring. And incompetent.

Rules

These are mostly copied and pasted from my Google Doc.
0: First off, rule 0 is the catch all “don’t be a jerk” clause. Got it? Good.

1: You may perform up to two ‘actions’ per turn. A turn ends when I post and update the game, and an action is simply describing what you do, and then I will tell you how effective it was. Attack something, heal, buff, erase the fabric of reality, whatever. Though, if you do two actions on a turn, each one will be less effective than if you had focused on only one.

2: Be creative! Just saying your action is powerful won’t make it do more. The more flavorful and creative your description, the more powerful your action will be! There might even be special side effects for creative actions.

3: You can split your two actions among your posts however you wish. But if you do have a post without any actions in it, please label it with /null at the top. Also, you can give me a quick, one sentence description of any actions you do (EG: I’m attacking the Snobmodder with fruit salads), but you don’t have to.

4: The Snobmodder will summon minions, but the end goal is to attack him. Be warned though! Only the most creative attacks will get past his snobbishness! But if something damages him, he’ll be prepared for it next time, so it won’t work again.

Charging Rules

Charging Rules:
1: You all are heroes of fiction, empowered by the spark of the mind. At least, kinda. This latent power is called Empnefsi, or EP for short. (AKA: Inspiration in Greek, because everything sounds cooler in Greek). The first time you post in a turn, even if it’s a /null post, you gain 2 EP, up to a maximum of 30. If you do not take any actions on a turn, you gain an additional EP, just to give some compensation if you can’t/don’t want to make an action. Please keep track of your EP on your posts, because I will not do it for you.

2: You can call upon these powers to empower your normal actions. When you perform a normal action, you can spend EP (minimum of 10) to turn your action into a charged action, which will be much more powerful! The more EP you spend, the more powerful the action will be. Creativity bonuses still can boost this power even more!

3: But, please keep in mind that charged actions are NOT more effective at damaging The Snobmodder. For that, you need raw creativity.

4: Performing great or heroic feats can also give you surges of inspiration, boosting your EP. One such feat might be… perhaps… fighting The Snobmodder?

Creation Pool

1: In addition to the powers of inspiration, you have the ability to harness energies of creation through what is called the Creation Pool. It’s kinda like a celestial Kickstarter that you use to summon forth entities to fight alongside you, infused with the powers of creation.

2: On your post, you can submit an entity idea to the Creation Pool, which will be at the bottom of my posts. To do this, describe what your entity idea is, both in terms of mechanics and flavor. Give it a good pitch. You cannot submit an entity idea if you already have one in the Creation Pool (but you can cancel it at any time), or if you already control an entity. Your entity also needs a charge amount. This is how many assists it needs to be summoned, and must be at least 10, and at most 30. In general, your entity has 2,000 HP and deals 400 damage per turn for each charge point. You can alter these values, but don’t go too extreme in any direction.
If an entity idea in the Creation Pool is canceled while it has assists, the Creation Pool will temporarily become empowered with the lost energy. ... Or something. In other words, if an entity has ‘X’ assists, but is cancelled, the next ‘X’ times somebody assists an entity in the pool, that assist will count double. This can stack, though I hope it doesn’t get too out of hand. If it does, I’ll change it.

3: Once per turn, you can assist two different entity ideas in the Creation Pool. That increases their charges by one each. Once a charge is full, the entity is summoned at the end of the turn under the control of the person who originally submitted the idea.

4: Once an entity is summoned, it will remain on the battlefield until it dies or the summoner orders it to retreat. It acts once per turn, commanded by its summoner. But entities are not very good at damaging The Snobmodder. Once an entity is defeated, it cannot be resummoned unless you make some flavor/mechanics changes.

5: More creative entity ideas will likely get small stat boosts (at my discretion). Plus, if I see a really creative idea in the Creation Pool, I may pitch in some assists to it, or even offer to buy it outright in exchange for EP towards the entity’s owner. Me buying an entity idea will remove it from the Creation Pool and place it on my .txt document of future potential minions.

6: You might also come across Assist Tokens as rewards for doing certain feats. You can spend a token during a post to increase the charge of any entity by the value of the token. If you spend it on someone else’s entity, it’s twice as effective.

Example Entities

(All these entities are 30 charge entities)

ACME Inflatable Tank
60,000/60,000 HP

Attacks:
Machine Gun Fire: Deals 5,000 damage to two enemies.
Passives:
Balloon Resistance: Any attack that deals 10,000 or less damage deals half damage. Any attack that deals over 20,000 damage deals double damage.
Pop: Upon death, deals 10,000 damage to whatever dealt the killing blow.

Soul of Flame
100,000/100,000 HP
0/20 Pyre

Attacks
Scorch: Applies a burn for 2,000 damage per turn for 3 turns.
Conflagrate: Deals 10,000 damage and doubles the duration of any burns on the target. Costs 8 pyre.
Passives:
Eternal Fire: Whenever an enemy takes damage from this entity’s burns, gain 1 pyre.

Now that's done... do you have what it takes... to DESTROY THE SNOBMODDER? ... Probably. He's not really much of a fighter. He's just sitting there, at the trade depot, literally talking people to death.

"What you don't seem to understand is that these trade lines represent a deeply flawed system of capitalism. This is a regression! A regression to the oppressive system of mercantilism! Free trade like this is suppressing the will of both the individual and corporations, leading to a victim society that projects its blame outwards onto the systems of art that have brought us here, while also internalizing its guilt over the formation of laughter as a way to ease the psychic existential pain brought on by the torture of our souls. When people laugh, is it not because they have been fooled? Is it not because of a reversal of their knowledge? This system we have constructed, 'humor', is merely a red pill, blinding us to our own knowledge and holding back our progress. Is that not what this accursed building represents? A fall back to the tribal society we have clawed our way..."

He goes on like that for quite some time. Dear god.

(1)I set the Snobmodder’s Chair on Magical Smokeless Blue Fire by using telekinesis to agitate the molecules making up the air around the chair to make it hot which makes the Wood catch on fire especially after oxygen is subtly drawn from the air to further inflame the fire

(2)I tell the Snobmodder that unfortunately they are a few years too late currently the new philosophical thing is post-post modernism or Metamodernism,I then point at the Wiki article which drops down onto him at sufficient velocity

I take one of the shipping crates and smash it over the Snobmodder's head, causing him to fall through the seat of his chair, which takes damage.

I walk up to the snobmodder and encourage him to continue. no, no, go on. I find this quite scintillating! I agree, capitalism is terrible! yes, blue is a much better color then red. oh! insightful! I never considered how barter was common in tribal societies, just like it is now...
No, I have no ulterior motive. none whatsoever.

The Snobmodder's chair briefly catches on fire, starting to melt because it's one of those tacky plastic ones, but after a while, it peters out. What's a good number... um... how about 5,000. Yeah. 5,000 damage dealt.

Then, you flatten the Snobmodder with a wikipedia article, dealing 5,000 damage, and killing him.

Well, GG everyone. We can all go home now.

...

Wait... suddenly, a hand rises from the wreckage, giving a thumbs up like the Terminator. Turns out that the Snobmodder forgot to set his HP to 'godmodder' mode, and was still on normal entity mode. But now, he's fixed that mistake, and he's also gotten stronger by doing more research than he's ever done before. That's right, he has read a paragraph of the Wikipedia page article!

"Really, this whole 'metamodernist' movement is a reactionary regressive movement against the advancement of technology. I'm not sure why this is a big debate in DTG though, given we have like infinite technology, but still, it reminds me of the work of Gregory M. Garibian, but a push against the tribalistic nature of the world and increasing non market economies present in southern Ukraine..."

Though, his chair takes an additional 3,000 damage, as he was sitting on it at the time.

You hear an annoucer's voice from nowhere, saying "AND HE'S COMING IN WITH THE FOLDING SHIPPING CRATE!". You smash the shipping crate over the Snobmodder's head, but he seems unphased.

"I find the inherent epistemic anti-intellectualism in your arguments abhorrent. Let us take a counterfactual thought experiment of the aliens that offer a thousand dollars. In fact, I'm offering you a thousand dollars right now. Do you accept?"

However, you've also completely destroyed the shipping container, and it seems like there were four figures inside that all tumble out, mostly because what's a DTG game without entities? Only one of them seems to be on your side though. The rest are supporting the Snobmodder... because it's funny, I guess?

I suddenly have a mental breakdown, and start hitting the Snobmodder with a crowbar. Made of crows. That are made of crowbars.

As you go to beat the Snobmodder's head in, he stops you by explaining how intelligent crows are. They're really surprisingly smart, able to figure out complex tasks and remember faces and all that. Luckily, the smell of the fart wafts in, breaking his concentration for a moment, letting you bean him on the head, Half Life style.

1 DAMAGE! You gain +3 EP for the first Snobmodder damage.

Without this knowledge, we are truly lost in this limitless whirlwind of society, that we are all tiny, insignificant cogs inside the insidious machine of. Is it not rational thought that saved the day in 1984? Our wisdom and clear insights will lead us to a new age of the dawn, setting the sun on imperialist remnants of our Kafka-esk worldview..."

As he speaks, you feel like your brain is leaking through your ears. However, you do spend the time imagining all the great ways you can dismember him, thus gaining +1 EP.

As the psychic link takes hold, the Snobmodder pauses for a moment, his confidence shaken.

"Is that... really what I sound like to people? ... Dear Narrative... what have I done?"

He stops, and thinks for a long time of about three seconds. A new personal record for him.

"But... no. If people must suffer to be saved, then so be it. It is my duty to educate the masses! Without me, they would suffer this tenfold! I must bare this dark burden. It is not something I want, but I must undertake it."

His confidence seems shaken though. The next attack might have an easier time landing... Cyano gains +1 EP for (sorta) damaging the Snobmodder.

END OF RESPONSES

There are four new entities on the field, stolen from a game I like. They seem to be cartoon-ized depictions of Victorian era explorers. So, running down the list, we have...
 • Anna Proskuriakova, a mean looking scientist lady with some kind of Tesla stun rod and a fair amount of explosives.
 • Harry Walker, a street urchin with a very spiffy coat. Is the only one who is AS. You can thank EternalStruggle back on the Discord for that.
 • Victor Signac, a conquistador looking guy. Yet he's French, somehow.
 • And Yvonne Lefevre, an attention seeking Canadian whip girl. Or something.

Seems like they all have an XP level... Maybe if you give them stuff to find, they'll level up...

The Snobmodder feels like it's unsportsmanlike to attack entities on their first turn of existence, so he does nothing, except fix his chair a little bit. He's not very good at it though.

Edit- Oops, I forgot the splash damage of Piono's attack against the chair. You feel as though reality rewrites itself slightly, into one where the chair has 4,000 less HP.

THE BATTLEFIELD:

[N] : Shipping Crate : 10,000/10,000 HP x5

[AS] : Harry Walker : 75,000/75,000 HP - 0/4 XP - Level 2 Rogue
Piercing Shot: [III]

[PS] : Anna Proskuriakova : 50,000/50,000 - 0/4 XP - Level 2 Naturalist

4/30 EP

I walk up to the snobmodder and point out a singular very important thing to him. "You can't educate the masses when everything you say is nonsensical gibberish that only sounds intelligent because half the words interacting with each other have no meaning in relation to one another."
His confidence thusly fully shattered, I bash him over the head with another shipping container.

For my second action I give Harry a bottle of bottled EXP. Yes, a bottle of EXP inside a bottle.

I attempt to enter this zone a second time, more forcefully, this time.

"Oh, come on, not this routine again."

"So, greetings, sir," I say. Gonna try be tactful, avoid direct confrontations, such and such. "I've been sent here as a diplomat to defuse this situation. What are your demands?"

As I attempt to engage him in conversation, I can feel my energy rising. Strange. This system feels similar to what I'm used to as a Descended, yet... Huh. Multidimensional Alignment is different here. Thought is strongest here. Very well, things could get interesting.

I dear say, my good fellow! This seems like quite the riveting hunt we are engaged in!
That Snobmodder chap though, is simply an abhorrent person.

Walking up to him, I begin to ask him simple, but progressively harder questions of DTG lore. After all, to be a TRUE godmodder-like entity, you must have deep knowledge of your predecessors.

However, the instant the Snobmodder gets a single question wrong, a gate crashes onto him. Serves a FAKE Godmodder-like entity like himself right, I dare say.

Update times. I accidentally only got about three hours of sleep, so let's do this.

Also, people are being surprisingly peaceful. I think I can reward that, given what game these four entities come from.

QUOTE (pionoplayer @ (time=1526769500))

I walk up to the snobmodder and point out a singular very important thing to him. "You can't educate the masses when everything you say is nonsensical gibberish that only sounds intelligent because half the words interacting with each other have no meaning in relation to one another."
His confidence thusly fully shattered, I bash him over the head with another shipping container.

For my second action I give Harry a bottle of bottled EXP. Yes, a bottle of EXP inside a bottle.
What?! The Snobmodder's rhetoric makes no sense? Who would have guessed? Clearly not the Snobmodder.

"But... no... no! That's not true! It can't be true! I can name so many philosophers! I can quote Wikipedia and not cite it! That's... only something a true genius like mys-"

You cut him out of his little crisis by beaning him with another shipping container, dealing TWO DAMAGE and earning yourself +2 EP.

"Why? BUT WHY?!?!?"

He cries out to the heavens before realizing something.

"Doubting my knowledge led to pain and disaster... Misinformation and lies lead to pain, so my doubt must have been a lie! You were deceiving me! I doubted my knowledge, and this is what happened, so my knowledge must be true!"

Yeah, sure. Whatever. Anyway...

Harry opens the bottle of bottled xp, then opens the bottled xp, and drinks it. He then goes to the hospital because I imagine drinking pure knowledge would ruin something about your internal digestion. However, he gets to explore all the twisty underground passages in the hospital over on 17th South Godmodder Street, thus gaining +3 XP and two 'collect' tokens that are irrelevant to this game. He does take 4,000 damage though.

QUOTE (DCCCV @ (time=1526773013))
I attempt to enter this zone a second time, more forcefully, this time.

2/30

"Ah, another person with a text color! But, I object to your implication that I'm some warlord taking hostages to make their 'demands' known. I've merely blocked a lot of infrastructure as a way to voice my suggestions. Are these not two completely different things? Anyway, we need a wise ruler, and with my brilliance, I think I am a perfect fit to bare this burden, and lead us to greater glories, and not drag our voices into the mud with trite meaningless capitalism."

Remember kids, when you arbitrarily assign 'meaning' to something, it makes it better.

Also, a Descended joins the fray, and the DTG Expanded Universe continues to expand.

"Uh... yeah, totally. The day was lost in 1984. Uh... The novel. Yeah. I meant the year, clearly, but I can understand how a lesser mind may not have realized that."

He pauses for a moment before gladly changing the subject.

"This view of rationalism is very interesting, but short sighted. It shows an inherent bias towards underlying preconceptions of their worldview that can blind us to that which cannot be expressed in our minds. This openness is something I feel rarely gets covered in thought, though some like Samuel Beckett do explore the nature of expressiveness and its reduction to the absurd."

You feel like this speech of his is somewhat uncharacteristic of him, considering he actually managed to correctly connect a writer with what they wrote about.

You show Anna to the nearest science fair, where she gets kinda creepily fascinated and spends an afternoon there. When she comes back, she's down 5,000 HP. Not because of any physical harm, but because I've replaced these character's 'hp' with 'spirit', which represents their will to keep on fighting.

Also, by 'Rogue Cantrips', I assume you mean Wizard cantrips because Rogues don't have any cantrips, but they can learn wizard ones from the Arcane Trickster path. Either way, Harry seems pretty fascinated.

"Woah, actual magic. Never could control anything like this back home..."

He gains +2 XP, which levels him up, giving him a rank in Rogue which improves his melee damage and dodge chance. He also gains more max spirit.

You do so. Congratulations. All the four explorers take 1 damage as your cringe has ever so slightly weakened their will to fight.

THIS JUST IN! A QUOTE FROM THE FUTURE!!

Sadly, the Snobmodder's logic is so full of holes, it permeates into his very being, giving him an air of in-corporeality. The gate falls though him harmlessly as the holes in his logic line up with the holes in the gate.

"Hah! Your fatal assumption was that this game takes place in a time after the other godmodding stuff! Maybe this isn't the same universe at all! I don't really want to say one way or another, because I think it's funnier that way."

END OF RESPONSES

Now it's time for the first actual EOTB. Because people are showing interest in non-violent options, I'm importing more mechanics from the game these explorers come from. Both the AS and PS side will have a 'mood', which can be either friendly, devious, or aggressive. Friendly is convening people to not fight you or that you are a pretty cool guy, devious is insulting them and breaking their own self image, and aggressive is punching people. Doing actions in one mood will shift the AS side towards that mood, based on how drastic it is and how much damage it deals.

The moods end up being a rock, paper, scissors type thing. Friendly beats devious as you feel high and mighty, devious beats aggressive as you taunt them and run away, and aggressive beats friendly as you face punch hippies. Based on which mood the two sides gain, everyone will gain a bonus or penalty. Luckily, the Snobmodder is... kinda dumb, and doesn't take full advantage of this, otherwise it would be really unfair for you guys. But expect him to exploit your mood if you stay in one for too long. If this seems too complicated, I'll scrap it. But either way, this will probably be a temporary thing.

Anyway...

Harry follows the friendly example set by Paradox, and attempts to impress Victor with his sharp shooting skills. Unfortunately, Harry isn't very good at friendly, and only deals 4,000 spirit damage. He gains +1 xp for trying, though.

Victor is a lot better though, and encourages Harry with how great things will be once you just surrender to the Snobmodder. This still counts as friendly because reasons. Harry takes 5,000 damage though, and Victor gains +1 XP.

Edit - I forgot. Harry's levels in Rogue gives him a dodge chance, and I don't even need to bother working out what it is because I rolled a 100 out of 100 on Random.org (where I decided low is good), so before Victor starts his speech, Harry deftly snatch Victor's pocketwatch off him, forcing him to waste time arguing to get it back instead of arguing for the Snobmodder.

Then the Snobmodder sends Anna and Yvonne off on a top secret mission to acquire a McGuffin that might be related to the rules page. Both of them gain +3 XP while away. When they return, the Snobmodder sets up a massive big-top tent with a ton of security drones and anti-snooping wards around it, just so nothing is spoiled until the right time.

Finally, the Snobmodder sits down with Harry for a while and tells him about all the troubles in the world that could be solved under the Snobmodder's wise and just rule. Harry could even have a position in this rule, making sure no child experiences the poverty he has. This argument deals 10,000 spirit damage to Harry.

Oh dear, by the Iron Prince, this person's an intellectual.
"Ah, so this is supposed to be a peaceful protest? I see," I said. Again, I had no desire to fight anyone. It never truly solves any problems.

I attempt to make myself comfortable for the next little while, as I wait for this Snobmodder to dissolve his blockade in multiversal trade routes.

Raising my hand, I attempt to envision a chair to sit down in. One with fabric upholstery, with handrails, yes. A chair that would be able to beat the Snobmodder's in every way, with cupholders, and swivellyness, too!

"hm... an interesting take on the matter, and one I'd admittedly not considered much. personally, though, I can't think of any combination of occams razor, bayes theorom, or laplace's rule of succession which would lead you to assign more probability to things happening in a way that hasn't happened before."
"Or which seems to defy all known rules of the world (assuming you have never seen someone defy those rules, eteca eteca."
"so, I personally believe that bias is warranted - what other logic would you follow, 'I'm going to get milk by stepping into my closet and punching myself in the face, because it has never worked before'?"
"Still, I am open to argument."
Post scriptum. I have a text color now, because why not?
Post Post Scriptum. yeah, I thought he meant to novel, since it's a pretty specific year and I don't know much about the real life 1948.

"Uh, hello?"

Peeking out, I wave my arm in an uncertain way, conveying the the true uncertainty of my very presence. I pull myself out of a natural den and take a good look at it.

"This... this Rogueness...."

My eyes seem to slide off the den's contours and walls due to its natural rogueness. Perfect blind spots litter the dens entrances as it shows how expansive and sneaky it feels.

Drooling with great mental thirst, I take a bunch of rogue guild starter packs and arrayed them in a haphazardly fashion. starter daggers, cloaks, neat looking sandals were stuffed and spun into the interdimensional Rogue Guild as basic traps soon set themselves across the entrance to test wannabe Rogues down the very path they seek. Soon enough the obligatory guild receptionist shows up, dressed up as the generic shady senior.

Finally, I send out business cards of the new Rogue Guild opening up to all Rogues and their prestige classes. Which includes Harry which he quickly visited and picked up the task to lockpick a level 2 Chest on the 1st floor of the Rogue dungeon.

Might as well give a quick explanation on this while I'm here...

The charging system in this game is an experiment to try and separate the whole 'charges for both attacks and entities' thing. You have your charge for attacks and actions (your EP), and your charge for entities, which will be introduced later (probably next turn or the one after that). You cannot use EP to summon entities. If you post during a turn, you gain +2 EP. If you take no actions in a turn, you gain an additional EP. You also gain EP for particularly entertaining stuff or damaging the Snobmodder. You can store up to 30 EP.

Then, you can spend EP on charged attacks, like most games. But you need to spend a minimum of 10 EP.

Also, Harry is less a rogue in the D&D sense, and more a rogue in the realistic sense, as in, petty thievery, but either works.
