Hey all you nerds and nerdettes. It's been a while since I've posted here much. So... partly on a whim, I decided to make this game. This is mostly a test for me to see if I can manage a DTG game and if I enjoy it, while also to test out some ideas I've had. Expect this to be a pretty short game, if it finishes at all, that is. With that out of the way, welcome to Destroy the Snobmodder.
Look at the second post for rules and stuff. Most Recent EOTB ParadoxDragonPaci: Memory of an Angel - 12/15 Assists

Originally posted on 2018-05-18 23:08:00 -------------------- Played.

Education. It allows us to reach higher, do more, become greater than we once were. Most importantly, it also lets us sound superior to other people even when the actual title of the class was "Norwegian Pinatas Throughout Time: an Examining into the SocioCultural-Economic Lives of the Underprivileged Elites of Northern Africa". And that, is where you come in. A new threat, the Snobmodder, has claimed one of the central universes in the multiverse as his own, and is terrorizing shipping routes and triggering defensive pacts and yadda yadda yadda. Something something something, go beat him up, for you are a crack team of the cheapest heroes fiction has to offer. Be warned, for he can be extremely boring. And incompetent.
Rules Charging Rules Creation Pool 3: Once per turn, you can assist two different entity ideas in the Creation Pool. That increases their charges by one each. Once a charge is full, the entity is summoned at the end of the turn under the control of the person who originally submitted the idea. 4: Once an entity is summoned, it will remain on the battlefield until it dies or the summoner orders it to retreat. It acts once per turn, commanded by its summoner. But entities are not very good at damaging The Snobmodder. Once an entity is defeated, it cannot be resummoned unless you make some flavor/mechanics changes. 5: More creative entity ideas will likely get small stat boosts (at my discretion). Plus, if I see a really creative idea in the Creation Pool, I may pitch in some assists to it, or even offer to buy it outright in exchange for EP towards the entity’s owner. Me buying an entity idea will remove it from the Creation Pool and place it on my .txt document of future potential minions. 6: You might also come across Assist Tokens as rewards for doing certain feats. You can spend a token during a post to increase the charge of any entity by the value of the token. If you spend it on someone else’s entity, it’s twice as effective. Example Entities

Now that's done... do you have what it takes... to DESTROY THE SNOBMODDER? ... Probably. He's not really much of a fighter. He's just sitting there, at the trade depot, literally talking people to death. "What you don't seem to understand is that these trade lines represent a deeply flawed system of capitalism. This is a regression! A regression to the oppressive system of mercantilism! Free trade like this is suppressing the will of both the individual and corporations, leading to a victim society that projects its blame outwards onto the systems of art that have brought us here, while also internalizing its guilt over the formation of laughter as a way to ease the psychic existential pain brought on by the torture of our souls. When people laugh, is it not because they have been fooled? Is it not because of a reversal of their knowledge? This system we have constructed, 'humor', is merely a red pill, blinding us to our own knowledge and holding back our progress. Is that not what this accursed building represents? A fall back to the tribal society we have clawed our way..." He goes on like that for quite some time. Dear god. Originally posted on 2018-05-18 23:08:00 -------------------- Played.

(1)I set the Snobmodder’s Chair on Magical Smokeless Blue Fire by using telekinesis to agitate the molecules making up the air around the chair to make it hot which makes the Wood catch on fire especially after oxygen is subtly drawn from the air to further inflame the fire
(2)I tell the Snobmodder that unfortunately they are a few years too late currently the new philosophical thing is post-post modernism or Metamodernism,I then point at the Wiki article which drops down onto him at sufficient velocity Originally posted on 2018-05-18 23:49:00 |

I walk up to the snobmodder and encourage him to continue. no, no, go on. I find this quite scintillating! I agree, capitalism is terrible! yes, blue is a much better color then red. oh! insightful! I never considered how barter was common in tribal societies, just like it is now... No, I have no ulterior motive. none whatsoever. Originally posted on 2018-05-19 01:11:00 |

Baby's first update.
The Snobmodder's chair briefly catches on fire, starting to melt because it's one of those tacky plastic ones, but after a while, it peters out. What's a good number... um... how about 5,000. Yeah. 5,000 damage dealt. Then, you flatten the Snobmodder with a wikipedia article, dealing 5,000 damage, and killing him. Well, GG everyone. We can all go home now. ... Wait... suddenly, a hand rises from the wreckage, giving a thumbs up like the Terminator. Turns out that the Snobmodder forgot to set his HP to 'godmodder' mode, and was still on normal entity mode. But now, he's fixed that mistake, and he's also gotten stronger by doing more research than he's ever done before. That's right, he has read a paragraph of the Wikipedia page article! "Really, this whole 'metamodernist' movement is a reactionary regressive movement against the advancement of technology. I'm not sure why this is a big debate in DTG though, given we have like infinite technology, but still, it reminds me of the work of Gregory M. Garibian, but a push against the tribalistic nature of the world and increasing non market economies present in southern Ukraine..." Though, his chair takes an additional 3,000 damage, as he was sitting on it at the time.
You hear an annoucer's voice from nowhere, saying "AND HE'S COMING IN WITH THE FOLDING SHIPPING CRATE!". You smash the shipping crate over the Snobmodder's head, but he seems unphased. "I find the inherent epistemic anti-intellectualism in your arguments abhorrent. Let us take a counterfactual thought experiment of the aliens that offer a thousand dollars. In fact, I'm offering you a thousand dollars right now. Do you accept?" However, you've also completely destroyed the shipping container, and it seems like there were four figures inside that all tumble out, mostly because what's a DTG game without entities? Only one of them seems to be on your side though. The rest are supporting the Snobmodder... because it's funny, I guess?
No. YOU FAIL TO JOIN THE GAME. You might have to try again later.
As you go to beat the Snobmodder's head in, he stops you by explaining how intelligent crows are. They're really surprisingly smart, able to figure out complex tasks and remember faces and all that. Luckily, the smell of the fart wafts in, breaking his concentration for a moment, letting you bean him on the head, Half Life style. 1 DAMAGE! You gain +3 EP for the first Snobmodder damage.
"FINALLY! Somebody who appreciates my insights. Without this knowledge, we are truly lost in this limitless whirlwind of society, that we are all tiny, insignificant cogs inside the insidious machine of. Is it not rational thought that saved the day in 1984? Our wisdom and clear insights will lead us to a new age of the dawn, setting the sun on imperialist remnants of our Kafka-esk worldview..." As he speaks, you feel like your brain is leaking through your ears. However, you do spend the time imagining all the great ways you can dismember him, thus gaining +1 EP.
As the psychic link takes hold, the Snobmodder pauses for a moment, his confidence shaken. "Is that... really what I sound like to people? ... Dear Narrative... what have I done?" He stops, and thinks for a long time of about three seconds. A new personal record for him. "But... no. If people must suffer to be saved, then so be it. It is my duty to educate the masses! Without me, they would suffer this tenfold! I must bare this dark burden. It is not something I want, but I must undertake it." His confidence seems shaken though. The next attack might have an easier time landing... Cyano gains +1 EP for (sorta) damaging the Snobmodder. END OF RESPONSES There are four new entities on the field, stolen from a game I like. They seem to be cartoon-ized depictions of Victorian era explorers. So, running down the list, we have...
Seems like they all have an XP level... Maybe if you give them stuff to find, they'll level up... The Snobmodder feels like it's unsportsmanlike to attack entities on their first turn of existence, so he does nothing, except fix his chair a little bit. He's not very good at it though. Edit- Oops, I forgot the splash damage of Piono's attack against the chair. You feel as though reality rewrites itself slightly, into one where the chair has 4,000 less HP. I walk up to the snobmodder and point out a singular very important thing to him. "You can't educate the masses when everything you say is nonsensical gibberish that only sounds intelligent because half the words interacting with each other have no meaning in relation to one another." His confidence thusly fully shattered, I bash him over the head with another shipping container. For my second action I give Harry a bottle of bottled EXP. Yes, a bottle of EXP inside a bottle. I attempt to enter this zone a second time, more forcefully, this time.
"Oh, come on, not this routine again." "So, greetings, sir," I say. Gonna try be tactful, avoid direct confrontations, such and such. "I've been sent here as a diplomat to defuse this situation. What are your demands?" As I attempt to engage him in conversation, I can feel my energy rising. Strange. This system feels similar to what I'm used to as a Descended, yet... Huh. Multidimensional Alignment is different here. Thought is strongest here. Very well, things could get interesting. 2/30 Originally posted on 2018-05-20 00:36:00 -------------------- |

I repair my brain, and chide myself for imagining such grotesque actions. very impolite! I also prevent my brain from leaking out through anywhere else. [snobmodder's speech] Indeed, knowledge is power, the one true kind! I believe the day was lost in 1984, but rational though most certainly levelled the field. though I must confess, I do not know what kafka is, it seems he is quite intellectual! out of curiosity, Snobmodder, what is your view on rationalist fiction (where the writer does their best to make the characters act in a logical way and sometimes alters the rules to be a bit more rational as well)? I dear say, my good fellow! This seems like quite the riveting hunt we are engaged in!
That Snobmodder chap though, is simply an abhorrent person. Walking up to him, I begin to ask him simple, but progressively harder questions of DTG lore. After all, to be a TRUE godmodder-like entity, you must have deep knowledge of your predecessors. However, the instant the Snobmodder gets a single question wrong, a gate crashes onto him. Serves a FAKE Godmodder-like entity like himself right, I dare say. Originally posted on 2018-05-20 22:25:00 |

Update times. I accidentally only got about three hours of sleep, so let's do this.
Also, people are being surprisingly peaceful. I think I can reward that, given what game these four entities come from.
"But... no... no! That's not true! It can't be true! I can name so many philosophers! I can quote Wikipedia and not cite it! That's... only something a true genius like mys-" You cut him out of his little crisis by beaning him with another shipping container, dealing TWO DAMAGE and earning yourself +2 EP. "Why? BUT WHY?!?!?" He cries out to the heavens before realizing something. "Doubting my knowledge led to pain and disaster... Misinformation and lies lead to pain, so my doubt must have been a lie! You were deceiving me! I doubted my knowledge, and this is what happened, so my knowledge must be true!" Yeah, sure. Whatever. Anyway... Harry opens the bottle of bottled xp, then opens the bottled xp, and drinks it. He then goes to the hospital because I imagine drinking pure knowledge would ruin something about your internal digestion. However, he gets to explore all the twisty underground passages in the hospital over on 17th South Godmodder Street, thus gaining +3 XP and two 'collect' tokens that are irrelevant to this game. He does take 4,000 damage though.
"Ah, another person with a text color! But, I object to your implication that I'm some warlord taking hostages to make their 'demands' known. I've merely blocked a lot of infrastructure as a way to voice my suggestions. Are these not two completely different things? Anyway, we need a wise ruler, and with my brilliance, I think I am a perfect fit to bare this burden, and lead us to greater glories, and not drag our voices into the mud with trite meaningless capitalism." Remember kids, when you arbitrarily assign 'meaning' to something, it makes it better. Also, a Descended joins the fray, and the DTG Expanded Universe continues to expand.
"Uh... yeah, totally. The day was lost in 1984. Uh... The novel. Yeah. I meant the year, clearly, but I can understand how a lesser mind may not have realized that." He pauses for a moment before gladly changing the subject. "This view of rationalism is very interesting, but short sighted. It shows an inherent bias towards underlying preconceptions of their worldview that can blind us to that which cannot be expressed in our minds. This openness is something I feel rarely gets covered in thought, though some like Samuel Beckett do explore the nature of expressiveness and its reduction to the absurd." You feel like this speech of his is somewhat uncharacteristic of him, considering he actually managed to correctly connect a writer with what they wrote about.
You show Anna to the nearest science fair, where she gets kinda creepily fascinated and spends an afternoon there. When she comes back, she's down 5,000 HP. Not because of any physical harm, but because I've replaced these character's 'hp' with 'spirit', which represents their will to keep on fighting. Also, by 'Rogue Cantrips', I assume you mean Wizard cantrips because Rogues don't have any cantrips, but they can learn wizard ones from the Arcane Trickster path. Either way, Harry seems pretty fascinated. "Woah, actual magic. Never could control anything like this back home..." He gains +2 XP, which levels him up, giving him a rank in Rogue which improves his melee damage and dodge chance. He also gains more max spirit.
You do so. Congratulations. All the four explorers take 1 damage as your cringe has ever so slightly weakened their will to fight. THIS JUST IN! A QUOTE FROM THE FUTURE!!
"Hah! Your fatal assumption was that this game takes place in a time after the other godmodding stuff! Maybe this isn't the same universe at all! I don't really want to say one way or another, because I think it's funnier that way." END OF RESPONSES Now it's time for the first actual EOTB. Because people are showing interest in non-violent options, I'm importing more mechanics from the game these explorers come from. Both the AS and PS side will have a 'mood', which can be either friendly, devious, or aggressive. Friendly is convening people to not fight you or that you are a pretty cool guy, devious is insulting them and breaking their own self image, and aggressive is punching people. Doing actions in one mood will shift the AS side towards that mood, based on how drastic it is and how much damage it deals. The moods end up being a rock, paper, scissors type thing. Friendly beats devious as you feel high and mighty, devious beats aggressive as you taunt them and run away, and aggressive beats friendly as you face punch hippies. Based on which mood the two sides gain, everyone will gain a bonus or penalty. Luckily, the Snobmodder is... kinda dumb, and doesn't take full advantage of this, otherwise it would be really unfair for you guys. But expect him to exploit your mood if you stay in one for too long. If this seems too complicated, I'll scrap it. But either way, this will probably be a temporary thing. Anyway... Harry follows the friendly example set by Paradox, and attempts to impress Victor with his sharp shooting skills. Unfortunately, Harry isn't very good at friendly, and only deals 4,000 spirit damage. He gains +1 xp for trying, though. Edit - I forgot. Harry's levels in Rogue gives him a dodge chance, and I don't even need to bother working out what it is because I rolled a 100 out of 100 on Random.org (where I decided low is good), so before Victor starts his speech, Harry deftly snatch Victor's pocketwatch off him, forcing him to waste time arguing to get it back instead of arguing for the Snobmodder. Then the Snobmodder sends Anna and Yvonne off on a top secret mission to acquire a McGuffin that might be related to the rules page. Both of them gain +3 XP while away. When they return, the Snobmodder sets up a massive big-top tent with a ton of security drones and anti-snooping wards around it, just so nothing is spoiled until the right time. Finally, the Snobmodder sits down with Harry for a while and tells him about all the troubles in the world that could be solved under the Snobmodder's wise and just rule. Harry could even have a position in this rule, making sure no child experiences the poverty he has. This argument deals 10,000 spirit damage to Harry. THE BATTLEFIELD: [N] : Shipping Crate : 10,000/10,000 HP x4 [AS] : Harry Walker : 65,999/80,000 Spirit - 2/6 XP - Level 3 Rogue Piercing Shot: [III] [PS] : Anna Proskuriakova : 49,999/50,000 Spirit - 3/4 XP - Level 2 Naturalist Experimentation: [IIII] [PS] : Victor Signac : 35,999/40,000 Spirit - 1/4 XP - Level 2 Tactician Peace Treaty: [IIII] [PS] : Yvonne Lefevre : 39,999/40,000 Spirit - 3/4 XP - Level 2 Beguiler Deride: [III] [PS] : Snobmodder's Chair : 988,001/1,000,000 HP [SM] : Snobmodder : 47/50 HP Mood Stuff Originally posted on 2018-05-20 23:13:00 -------------------- Played.

Oh dear, by the Iron Prince, this person's an intellectual.
"Ah, so this is supposed to be a peaceful protest? I see," I said. Again, I had no desire to fight anyone. It never truly solves any problems. I attempt to make myself comfortable for the next little while, as I wait for this Snobmodder to dissolve his blockade in multiversal trade routes. Raising my hand, I attempt to envision a chair to sit down in. One with fabric upholstery, with handrails, yes. A chair that would be able to beat the Snobmodder's in every way, with cupholders, and swivellyness, too! 4/30 Originally posted on 2018-05-20 23:35:00 -------------------- |

"Uh, hello?"
Peeking out, I wave my arm in an uncertain way, conveying the the true uncertainty of my very presence. I pull myself out of a natural den and take a good look at it. "This... this Rogueness...." My eyes seem to slide off the den's contours and walls due to its natural rogueness. Perfect blind spots litter the dens entrances as it shows how expansive and sneaky it feels. Drooling with great mental thirst, I take a bunch of rogue guild starter packs and arrayed them in a haphazardly fashion. starter daggers, cloaks, neat looking sandals were stuffed and spun into the interdimensional Rogue Guild as basic traps soon set themselves across the entrance to test wannabe Rogues down the very path they seek. Soon enough the obligatory guild receptionist shows up, dressed up as the generic shady senior. Finally, I send out business cards of the new Rogue Guild opening up to all Rogues and their prestige classes. Which includes Harry which he quickly visited and picked up the task to lockpick a level 2 Chest on the 1st floor of the Rogue dungeon. 2/30 EP (How does charging work here? The charging system in this game is an experiment to try and separate the whole 'charges for both attacks and entities' thing. You have your charge for attacks and actions (your EP), and your charge for entities, which will be introduced later (probably next turn or the one after that). You cannot use EP to summon entities. If you post during a turn, you gain +2 EP. If you take no actions in a turn, you gain an additional EP. You also gain EP for particularly entertaining stuff or damaging the Snobmodder. You can store up to 30 EP. Then, you can spend EP on charged attacks, like most games. But you need to spend a minimum of 10 EP. Also, Harry is less a rogue in the D&D sense, and more a rogue in the realistic sense, as in, petty thievery, but either works. Originally posted on 2018-05-21 02:12:00 -------------------- Played.
