Destiny -1s her DEF then +2's her AGI. d g e b a y b e e

---------------------

Crya almost immediately responds to Chi's comments about destroying the Sphere from the outside.
Ah, well, it's simple, really. Things as strong as gods exist, you know? I know this well. I wasn't always a god: it was something gifted to me, and one must conclude from that that those who can grant godhood must be gods themselves or potentially something greater.

Crya takes a moment to clear her throat.
That tangent aside, destroying the Sphere from the outside would take immense force to perform. So much that trying to do so would have catastrophic fallout. If we tried, we may have potentially destroyed Sussui or even worse. Think of trying to combat the Sphere from the outside as... a cosmic arm wrestle, and the table is your solar system. When one would finally slam down another's arm, the impact would probably annihilate a great number of things.
...wait, do Chairians know what arm wrestling is? I guess a better comparison is... well I can't really think of anything else. Chrono isn't here either, so he can't be here to project what would happen. But imagine this...

From her hands, Crya forms a large snowball. Two large icicles form, one from the snowball and one from the sky. They collide into each other, the one coming from the snowball breaking and the icicle from the sky smashing right through, destroying the snowball in the process.

...I think that's a decent enough explanation.

Crya then responds to the comment about cruel gods.
Ah, cruel gods do indeed exist out there, but... sometimes, what may seem cruel may have good reason.
Many gods force themselves out of direct intervention with their creations. The potential complacency or overreliance of their spawn; maybe outside forces that do not allow them to see their children, whatever it may be. I believe that most gods want only the best, even if it may seem different for those that they molded.

--------------------
You are already dead.

North of the Pass

"It works! It definitely works," Venia shouts. "... I want to do that way more."

Venia moves to K15-she passes by Nia at K17 and uses 10 MP to re-gain Ordo in the bargain with a quick kiss on the cheek (hard to do better when you're on the move). Venia then uses a stack of Heart to ping off the Executioner's Divine Shield, then uses a Restrained Purge on the Executioner, instantly bringing them to 1 HP, before using Hat's ping to down them. She retreats to K14, and uses Heart to down the Seer and the Effigy if they are still up, and then pings the Sinner until its down.

Pawn 1 moves to G11, and whacks Sinner1 then taps to delete the suspicious Tombstone before retreating to F9, barring unlikely ambush from Fell Beasts. Pawn 2 tries to move to J9.

Mariaaaaaaa

I don't feel like writing a seven-year old girl doing her business, so let's just say that a few minutes pass in the stalls in a relatively normal manner.

When Maria leaves the stalls, however, the first thing she happens to lay eyes on is Nimbus in the hallway. Her eyes widen.

"Fluffy! Another fluffy! A fluffy friend!" Maria shouts, as she immediately wanders over, Cushion in tow.

"Hello, woodperson!" Maria says, waving at Salix. "Can I pet your fluffy friend? I love spiralfloofies. This is Cushion, and I love him. Is your fluffy a girl fluffy? Can Cushion and her make baby fluffies? I wanna see baby fluffies!"

Poor Maria, totally uneducated as to the nature of "baby fluffies."

Statstuff (early)

Venia +1's her MHP. Yep. That's it. Won't apply to the North of the Pass Battle though, but Ire's confirmed that double-instancing for the North of the Pass Battle will be in play due to the unforseen circumstances.

Soulcatcher

Spoiler Alert

Venia opts to invest in a backup strategy just in case Acacia does something especially foolish. Nominally it wouldn't amount to much, except the crew's already got a full-on ressurection ritual, just shy a bit. Wouldn't take much from here.

Venia pulls out the Spiritloom, and several other items of interest. The Animated Armor, the sole spare Gaiadiamond, the sole remaining Halobloom (in the inventory, not period), a Heavenly Regalia, some Fireproof Silkweave, and a Masterwork Spellbook plus a Royal Magus Spelltome. After some consideration as to the nature of what she was bagging, she also pulled out some of the lighter Shackled's chains.

Venia carefully takes the Animated Armor apart, bit-by-bit, separating the fabric from the Armor (leaving the metal plates) and placing them aside the Fireproof Silkweave, as she readies the Spiritloom-a loom that can weave fabric and souls. And perhaps, make fabric spiritually sensitive? She had to do stitching for Maria in the past, so she had some idea of how to do textiles, but a full-on loom was unfamiliar. It doesn't take her too long to get an idea on how to best use it with some experimental use of lesser fabrics, as she pulls out the tomes and cross-references each other for the spell she needs-to bind a soul to a vessel. Not quite like the Rose Cult did it, though-whatever they did to make them so weaponizable is not in her interests, especially for the intended recipient. This is for Acacia-and Venia does not wish to be slammed by more giant death spires.

She begins, slowly, muttering the proper enchantments with a low tone as she weaves the fabrics together into a still-very-fireproof, but altogether different pattern-a pattern of intricately laced leylines, a spell of binding written in fabric and empowered by some of the strongest magical artifaces the Chairians have to offer. When it is done. Venia takes some of the chain links of the Shackled's chains and clasps the edges together to create, basically, a bag.

Then, she takes the Halobloom, the Heavenly Regalia and the Gaiadiamond. "...I can do this. I can do this."

Venia takes the tomes, again. What she did before would be nothing compared to this-forcing magical items to bend shape with more magic was... Difficult. However, only such artifaces, filled with light and power, would be safe for the soul to filter through-sturdy rock that cannot be melted, filled with power. She places her hands on them, sets the gems over the metal links, and begins chanting.

Sweat falls from her head like rain as she chants, the rocks shifting like molasses in her hands, entwining as the regalia pierces the top of the gaiadiamond and sinks slowly in, as its top brings out two tiny points like a fork. Venia only realizes that she can't sweat anymore and that what falls from her body isn't sweat as she's halfway through-and she stops, pauses. breathes, or does what she can, recollects herself figuratively and literally, and takes a drink of water. She stabilizes.

"... Of course, I'm dumb enough to try it all at once. Just, take a minute. Precision is of the essence, not time."

Venia continues-slower now. The change is even more gradual, but it does not make Venia's stamina flag nearly as badly as before, as she slowly shapes the rock into the proper shape-like a tuning fork. Auth might identify it as a spirifier's fork. He might be right-it is certainly meant to stab someone for their soul.

Once it is done, Venia pauses and pants and sighs at her handiwork, a little too exhausted to chant victory. One vessel capable of containing a soul-just one. Hopefully she wouldn't need to use it more than once, too.

Materials Expended: Halobloom (x1), Gaiadiamond (x1), Heavenly Regalia (x1), Masterwork Spellbook (x1), Royal Magus Spelltomes (x1), Animated Armor (x1), Shackled Chain (x1), Fireproof Silkweave (x5).

T6(?): Soulcatcher
A device to safely store and retrieve souls from dying bodies. Durable and fireproof to extreme extents-quite surprising for being basically a sack with a crystal fork in the opening.

Why not

Venia uses the Reverse Autoclave on every last piece of Rosetainted Metal the party has (all 121 units of the stuff) to see what comes out. Might as well, after all that's happened.

Venia also invests the 20 Flux they got into Soulless Suggestion in the Flux Lab. Might as well while I'm thinking about it.

Weapons Testing Chamber

First, Venia quickly grabs a scroll of Ressurect, and a few leftover mana batteries to cast it on herself, gaining Autorevive. She isn't perky about her odds of not taking a deadly spire to the face. Plus, that'll be the second time Acacia's been tripped up by that.

Venia sets up one last bomb-keeping one bomb in reserve for an indeterminable period in the future. She waits patiently as she lights the fuse, and faces the last barrier.

"ACACIA!" She shouts, as the bomb fuse goes down. "... You crazy little nut, are you really doing this? Hersilia's concerned out of her mind for you! She almost damn died fighting us, thank god we're not psychos or she really would have! This is how you repay her friendship? You're really making this difficult for everyone here, you know?!"

Venia pauses.

"... I really do want to help, I really do. Auth got together a whole ritual to cure your ass, he really busted his balls over it. This thing is just shy of ressurecting the dead. That's a hell of a lot for someone who keeps trying to kill us!"

The fuse winds down further...

"If you really want a fight-COME ON! We'll fight you head on if you let us, just like you want! I hope you've been studying that book-you're gonna need it!"

And the fuse vanishes into the bomb. Seconds later-it explodes outwards, bursting through the barricades like a hot knife through butter.

"COME ON!"

Lily walks one tile north to J15 and headpats the untamed Mollusk. 75% chance lets go

I'll let someone else order the other Mollusk.

Lily also uses her debug mode powers to spawn a clone-copy of herself, and goes to look for Mari.

VolatileLily0058: hi again! sorry, i got caught up with something.
VolatileLily0058: where were we? right, about my homeworld
VolatileLily0058: i haven't actually heard of a lot of other games beyond what the actual players discuss in chat
VolatileLily0058: so i wouldnt be able to say how it _compares_ to other games
VolatileLily0058: i'll say there are a lot of very rng heavy mechanics though, most of which have to do with combat
VolatileLily0058: so, what are those other games you mentioned like? :P

Nettle prepares to rejoin the party properly. That means I need to do a crafty thing, but in the meantime, here is her respec: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_xo...475807&range=A1

~~

She checks in on the rather suspicious scientist who burst out of the men's room. Forgoing the courtesy of knocking, she heads inside the generator room to get a better look at what's going on- especially at how he's interacting with the generator.

NETTLE: What are you doing in here?

She blocks the door with her body, wanting her questions to be answered before he runs off. But hey, maybe there's a reasonable explanation for his s l u r p.

~~

Now she's recovered a bit, Future!Toast hops down to the lower platform, boops the portal glyph, and hops through to the house.

~~

Asha activates her trait, regaining Empowered2 for two turns. Thanks to Growing Strength, it becomes Empowered3. She also alters reality to swap her Evasive to Focused. She moves to J15 and snipes the Wooden Effigy and Seer, popping her Might stacks to do so. The attacks thus have +90% damage.
+1 Might. +2 Magic.

She then uses the Poetry Pamphlet to move to L13 and give herself... let's say Hyperevasive.

The Inventory

After the random appearance of Chaos and his interesting grocery demonstration, involving turning a tiny egg into a high-speed projectile, Woodthorne, at least a bit confused, responds.

Woodthorne: Uhhh...
Woodthorne: You know what? Sure.
Woodthorne: I'll take some eggs, milk, butter, and sugar.
Woodthorne: Those seem to be the key ingredients we're missing.

The Skylabs

With Venia, Irongutta, and R-8 preparing yet another, uh, demolitions operation, Woodthorne draws his sword and gets ready to move in.

Woodthorne: Right, let's do this.
Woodthorne: Just... try to minimize any further collateral damage.
Woodthorne: Half the courtyard and this entire room have been completely destroyed already.

Stats

Hannah puts her new point in Vampiric Venom.

Skylabs - Hannah

Figuring she'd be done there, Hannah leaves the Aviation Chamber with her mirror images. She then sorta aimlessly wanders into the girls washroom (somehow not realizing Regalus was right there, probably due to being stoned) and notices the plumbing issue in the far stall.

Hannah finds an Out Of Order sign (or just makes one) and tosses it out onto the doorknob outside. She then tosses a vial of poison gas into the far stall, which explodes into said gas on contact. She then leaves (still not noticing that her target was literally right next to her), and blocks the door off with a couple wooden boards.

At this, she hecks off somewhere else. That somewhere else turns out to be near the wooden barricades where Venia was shouting at Acacia from. Even in her less than coherent state, she knew not to end up in her line of sight. Seriously, girl could probably be heard from several kilometers away.

Hannah waits until they're actually engaged in combat before even thinking about joining them. They'd at the very least be distracted enough to not read her mind or something.

...

Meanwhile, in the Sealed Testing Chamber, on seeing that the card (sorta) worked, Hannah and her mirror self grin. They look at each other and confidently nod. They note the Mirror Reflector, and wait for them to get onto the teleporter. It would be nice to have some backup.

Mirror!Hannah presses the button for the "Border Outpost", transporting herself to wherever.

Chapel - Adria

Adria pretty quickly notices that Auth and Nana were talking time-related stuff. Specifically, the time dilation effect the Thymefield seems to have. She'd move from her spot to get closer, but she's still kinda exhausted. "Hm... yes, I do feel like some sort of effect on the flow of time is occurring. Things that would typically take... I-I dunno, days, months or even years to happen, take only a few minutes or hours... well, at least from my observations from the short time I've been up."

She takes a sip of the canteen as she continues. "We have been able to replicate a similar effect in the past through our technology. Speeding up time around the crops to help them grow faster. Of course, this also means that they'd need more frequent watering and such to keep going compared to more traditionally grown crops."

"It's... pretty much required where I'm from. Otherwise we have to rely on imports from the neighboring kingdom, and they won't ever have enough farmland to sustain everyone. For, uh... a vast myriad of reasons."

--------------------
"...I will aid them. No matter the cost to myself."

STATISTICS

The Reflector +2's their DEF.
ZONE 2(+)

"The Metallurgist" nods.

"THE METALLURGIST": Sounds like you need someone with people skills.
"THE METALLURGIST": Which, unfortunately, seems to be none of the Spherebreakers we've met so far.
"THE METALLURGIST": Well, none except that vampire kid, but I don't know him well enough to trust the Reflector with his reflection.
"THE METALLURGIST": You lot really can't help getting into a fight every few minutes, can you?
"THE METALLURGIST": Guess it's his turn again.

The Reflector's face warps back into that of "the Thaumaturge," their/his hands tingling with frost.

"THE THAUMATURGE": I will investigate this "A(orn Orphanage" and its (aretaker. If the (aretaker does truly exist, they should be able to tell us where (ypress (ame from and where he went on(e he left, or at least who (an.
"THE THAUMATURGE": (ontinue resear(hing his a(tivities in the war after his departure from the orphanage, if you would. If you (ome a(ross any useful information, (onta(t me and I will seek it out.
"THE THAUMATURGE": ...That meddlesome girl is interfering again. I suppose I will need to be in two pla(es at on(e.

In a fluid motion, "the Thaumaturge" splits into two bodies. The newly created Mirror Image nods and departs the room, heading straight for Hannah and the teleporter via fast travel.

In summary: "the Thaumaturge" will attempt to take the airship to the purported location of the orphanage / its caretaker, while a Mirror "Thaumaturge" will follow along on Mirror Hannah's teleporter excursion to see where that leads, and cover for her if necessary.

Auth :auththink:s for a moment, and then offers the statue to Taeda.

AUTH: Either would be fine, I think. Feel free to keep it.
AUTH: I say, as perhaps the person least qualified to actually say something like that. I think it would be appreciated more in the hands of someone who would actually worship it, though.

Auth then turns back to Nana.

AUTH: Mm hmm. You probably didn't notice, because they were hidden in the grass outside.
AUTH: I don't know exactly what they do, but I saw them outside.

Auth considers the comments about nobody wanting to even grow thyme for a long time after this. Auth chuckles.

AUTH: I wouldn't be surprised.
AUTH: But consider the impact that lacking the spice could have on food, aha. I'm kidding, of course.

Auth smiles gently, then looks around briefly, and looks like he has a thought occur to him.

AUTH: Hey, Nana, if there's somewhere else you'd like to be because you don't need to sit in front of the flower, feel free to start moving out. I'll be here for a bit, I've got something I'm gonna look for.

If Nana stays, that's fine. Auth walks towards the altar at the back of the Church, careful not to disturb the Godblossom, and looks in the back. There's probably books underneath which would be something Auth needs to see. Whether there's anything at the back or not, Auth quietly asks Taeda to come over, intending to ask her something quietly.

AUTH: Taeda, I'm asking you because you'd probably have more insight into the process than anyone else as someone who's part of the church.
AUTH: I know it's probably kind of bad timing, but I swear this is (right now) only for my own personal curiosity. Something I'd intended to ask at some point anyway.
AUTH: How are Chairian marriages conducted? Where I come from, they're usually done in or near churches, so being in one reminded me that I'd meant to ask. I'm looking for a service book in case there's actually a guide in there, but...

Auth appears to be slightly worried that asking about it too loudly might cause Nana to get worked up.

Auth smiles slightly awkwardly.

AUTH: If I told you the rules were different in this place, would you believe me?
AUTH: People don't tend to believe there's a place where death is temporary...

Auth's home probably needs such a thing to compensate for all the danger. Whether the danger stems from the place, or is in response to it, is up to question.

Auth considers the question Chloe poses to him.

AUTH: Yes, there are plenty of things that won't kill you. The sapient rats, usually. Sometimes they even help out, Rattus Faber tend to be excellent engineers. The tigers and cats don't kill you either. They even talk! They help protect dreams - our mayor was a cat once. Birds are similarly non-hostile. And even the rare dog or fox.
AUTH: I mean, there's birds that sink ships out near the Carnelian Coast, but that's pretty far!
AUTH: Not to mention, the Sorrow Spiders don't... usually... kill people. They steal eyes touched by the Correspondence. L-like mine, admittedly. Flukes totally would kill, though.

Auth nods.

AUTH: It's mostly normal. Mostly. When I'm finished making it. It's just based on an... unusual ingredient. Speaking of...
AUTH: Want to come and see a place that doesn't exist? You probably wouldn't find what I need in the Echo Collective. What I need is one of those things from the Neath that have trouble remaining constituted there.

Just for formality, Auth puts in a requisition order for Parabolan Orange-Apples. Chloe won't know what they are, and Auth isn't expecting her to. It's a Parabolan Adventure that's required for them.

Auth flits over to the Weapons Testing Chamber when the last barrier is being prepared to be blown open. Then Venia starts shouting, as the fuse on the bomb burns down...

AUTH: Hey, Venia, please don't agitate Acacia! She's probably already on a breaking point, and pushing further is probably not going to help. Please, please don't push buttons...

Battle: North of the Pass

Irongutta's next action depends on how things look ahead after Venia's action, so the conditionals are as follows:

1. If the revealed path to the Shackled is clear, Irongutta will use Waaagh! and zoom all the way up to F4 to utterly crush it with a basic attack (provided he doesn't get ambushed by Fell Beasts).
2. If there wind up being cultists in the way, Irongutta wont pop special and will instead move up to attack the nearest cultist.

Weapons Testing Chamber

Of course, Irongutta wasn't going to miss the action, especially when he was standing just outside of the room! He didn't want himself nor R-8 to miss the fireworks both metaphorical and literal. "C'mon R-8, Venia's almost startin' wivvout us! We got an explosion to catch an' loot to nab after!" Irongutta pushed R-8 along with one hand to get him moving towards the Weapons Testing Chamber.

...Piggo came too. You just love to see it.

Upon arrival, Venia was already in the middle of her speech. Irongutta was getting hyped up, ready to battle with Magnolia in hand.

"That's the spirit, Venia! We'll stomp 'er good if she doesn't know wots good for 'er!"

<ROUND 262>

YOU EVER SEE NUMBERS AND WANT TO SING? No. I haven't. The title of this spoiler is a lie, but just sing them to yourself, in the form of a freestyle rap.

STATS: THE MUSICAL :nanafear:
Pionobot: +1 MHP. Spell rotated.
Destiny: +2 AGI. -1 DEF.
Venia: +1 MHP.
Asha: Respec. Has been replaced with Nettle, furthering an identity crisis. i mean she's still here, but shhh
Woodthorne: +Spread the Love, -4 DEF.
Hannah: +1 Level to Vampiric Venom. spooky
Reflector: +2 DEF. oh god
Bauhaus: +2 MHP.
Ironguitta: +1 MHP.
Generic: +1 STR. Phial Burst edited.

Marron: +1 SPC. Equipped the Weaver's Palm.

Pionobot tries to help Aoki. He crouches down next to her, pressing his hand against Aoki's chest. Through healing magic(?), her injuries are knitted back together. Not that she actually had any physical injuries- all of the damage she took was from poison!

Then, he tries to clear the poison from her systems. Asking Omorika for help, she cleans away the infected sap while he pushes the gunk out of her system. With the contaminants out of her system, Aoki's struggling ceases. Then, giving her a tap, he asks how she's holding up.

AOKI: I-I'm... not dead.
AOKI: S-So the rumors are true... y-you lot are... q-quite merciful...
AOKI: T-That's... good...

OMORIKA: Nobody will hurt you, miss Aoki.
OMORIKA: Rest well.

She's too weak to move at the moment. At the very least, she's not in pain. Perhaps he could get someone to watch over her? Someone with an expertise in poisons, maybe?

Crya tells Chi about gods n' stuff. While perhaps Chi would question the presence of gods, and how she became a god, these things have already been covered in another conversation. Anyway, trying to overpower the Sphere with the power of the gods would likely result in a rather large... bang.

CHI: ...Ah.
CHI: ...Pardon, but what is an "arm wrestle"?
CHI: I-It sounds... i-indecent...

...Ah. She's blushing. Or at least, she is until Crya decides to smash two snowballs together to make her point. Then the gravity of things hits her a bit more. Crya then goes on to note that yes; cruel gods are truly a thing. Though, all of them truly want the best.

CHI: ...Is there truly a world of gods?
CHI: How irksome. Multiple cruel deities, destroying the people over their petty squabbles...
CHI: Someone should show them their place.
CHI: B-But... that's an unhealthy line of thinking. There's probably a better way to go about it.

Maria wanders over to Nimbus and Salix. She immediately introduces Cushion (but not herself) to them, and asks if Nimbus and Cushion can go and make baby fluffies. Salix is... somehow, not very disturbed. Willow and Clausa keep a safe distance away.

SALIX: Hm? Yes, it is a female "fluffy", as you call it.
SALIX: I suppose our Spiralfloofs could breed, if you wanted.
SALIX: Of course, as I do not know the lineage of your Spiralfloof, as well as if its been bred for combat or not, there's plenty of paperwork that'd need to be done.
SALIX: In addition-

WILLOW: I'm gonna stop you riiiight there!

Willow ninjaports up to Salix, and shushes him by papping him on the mouth repeatedly.

WILLOW: Hey, kiddo! You're...
WILLOW: ...are human children always this cute? Helix, it's almost like she wasn't trying to breed some Tumblefluffs just now.
WILLOW: Anyway! Baby Spiralfloofs are called "Tumblefluffs".
WILLOW: They sound cute, but they're really not!

SALIX: From a litter of one-hundred Tumblefluffs, on average, only one will reach adulthood.
SALIX: This is because Tumblefluffs are prone to exploding at the slightest provocation, killing themselves and whatever threatens them.
SALIX: It is not advised to form an attachment with-

WILLOW: I-I was gonna tell her "yes, the cute things explode", but in a gentler manner!
WILLOW: You really have like, no kid skills!

SALIX: This is correct.

Has Maria's worldview been shattered? Maybe, maybe not. Elsewhere, Venia throws together a device she calls the "Soulcatcher", using a Halobloom, a Gaiadiamond, a Heavenly Regalia, a Masterwork Spellbook, a Royal Magus Spelltome, a charge of the Animator Armor, a Shackled Chain, and 5 sheets of Fireproof Silkweave. Will this be able to save Acacia should she be killed? Quite possibly. Certainly a solid backup plan!

Oh, Venia also employs the Reverse Autoclave on all 121 pieces of Rosetainted Metal. This produces 30 Sanctified Alloy, as well as 40 Electrum, 30 Gaiameld, and conveniently, 21 Durasteel. 20 Flux is then thrown into Soulless Suggestion. This gives people the ability to perform necromancy!

The game, detecting you're running low on Flux research options, generates a few more. Enjoy?

Lily meets up with Mari, asking what were the other games she mentioned like? The GM scrolls a good distance back, and realizes that Mari mentioned Runescape and World of Warcraft. Games he hasn't really played. uhhhhh

MARI: Huh? You don't know? Runescape and WoW are classics.
MARI: Explore a world, kill bad guys, get loot, repeat until either the player or the servers give out.
MARI: The classic MMORPG loop, y'know?
MARI: Is your world any different, or...?

While in this day and age Mari could mention Genshin Impact, she's not sure if Lily would completely understand what the hell a "breath of the wild" was.

Nettle investigates a suspicious looking Chairian scientist. His head twists 180 degrees towards her, his body still clinging to the generator.

CHAIRIAN: Ah! Hello, Gordon!
CHAIRIAN: I'm just following Sky Labs procedure!
CHAIRIAN: I am sucking out the bad power, and replacing it with fresh power from my body!
CHAIRIAN: That is why there is a steady supply of Powerade™ in these facilities!

...It occurs to Nettle that while yes, he is spewing Powerade all over the sensitive generation systems, he's also replacing the power crystals by hand. Maybe they're just crazy. Or maybe they're secretly a god of chaos. One of the two. Elsewhere, Future!Toast ollies through the portal in the Everground, escaping and emptying their inventory! The party obtains 6 Madmellows, and 2 Glockolate in terms of Halloween Candy, and 25 Everground Flowers.

Woodthorne decides to ask for some basic ingredients of Chaos. He nods, before promptly imploding on himself. Exactly one minute and nine seconds later, Chaos un-implodes where he vanished earlier, clipping into a chair that suddenly appeared there. He places a bag of groceries into Woodthorne's hands.

CHAOS: anyway i did [t]he shopping for you
CHAOS: [t]emmie [c]harges a lo[t] for every[t]hing
CHAOS: i [t]ook [t]he money i needed from marron's bank a[c][c]oun[t] so no need [t]o pay
CHAOS: also your walle[t]

...Woodthorne's wallet has vanished, and it with, 10 Credits. Looking through the grocery bag, he finds a carton of twelve dozen milks, a bag of eggs, and surprisingly normal sugar and butter. 30 units of Baking Supplies obtained! Chaos bids Woodthorne adieu, as his clipping with the chair launches him through the nearest wall.

Hannah decides to clear out a stall. She lobs a vial of poisoned gas into the stall, most likely killing whatever sort of Iti was in there. She then sends a Mirror Image to travel to the Border Outpost. But... perhaps we'll wait for the Reflector's post to handle that?

Adria also spends some time talking about her home. They'd speed up the growth of crops so that they wouldn't need to rely on imports from the neighboring kingdom. Taeda's quite fascinated.

TAEDA: Ah, wow!
TAEDA: Was your technology as fast as the Thymefield was?
TAEDA: But... what would stop your neighboring kingdom from delivering food?
TAEDA: If you can control time, shouldn't it be easy to... get more food without messing with time?

TAEDA: ...Ah! Random theory!
TAEDA: Maybe the presence of a natural ingredient like Thyme speeds up the growth of plants a bunch, or something.
TAEDA: But... wait, am I aging faster? I-I'm a plant!
TAEDA: I h-hope not! I wanna stay young for now!
TAEDA: T-There's lots of good things to look forward to in the future, a-and I want more time there, a-and less time here!

Taeda now doubts her theory. She's glad she doubts her theory.

The Reflector decides to travel to two locations at once. They inform Omorika of their plans- they shall explore the orphanage, and see if they can locate the former caretaker.

OMORIKA: Understood.
OMORIKA: Remain in contact with me if you can. I can feed you information from our systems.
OMORIKA: May your endeavor succeed.

The Reflector then moves to go and commandeer the Spherebreaker's airship-

OMORIKA: Ah, actually...
OMORIKA: Before you go anywhere, I should note that Acorn Orphanage and this "Border Outpost" seem to be in rather close proximity.
OMORIKA: You could certainly walk between them in a timely manner, though it may be more of a "brisk jog".

So, journeying with Hannah, the duo activates the teleporter. It doesn't seem to be the "instant teleport" sort of teleporter. Rather, a gateway is created in the air, creating a wormhole through space that interlinks two areas. To a veteran of the Second Godmodding War, it might be somewhat familiar...

They step through the portal, and into lands unknown...

The Border Outpost
...The warp was clean. Especially clean. For a non-tech savvy race, the Chairians have certainly perfected the development of portal tech. They get a feel for themselves- no internal discombobulation, no nausea, no limbs being in the wrong location... it was all perfectly clean. But where are they?

Looking around, it seems they're in what's obviously a temporary, quick construction. The walls are made of thin sheet metal, and the roof above is just fabric held up with various metal poles. Electrical lamps are stations upon the ceiling, the wires that power them clearly visible. They cast a dim yellow glow over the area, casting their light upon... a rebel soldier.

Well, great. It didn't take long at all for their cover to be blown-

REBEL: ...Oh! Hello.
REBEL: I don't believe we've met before.
REBEL: Which unit are you part of? I didn't know the Rebellion held any non-Chairians in their ranks.
REBEL: Perhaps you're part of Kudan's... "special ops"?
REBEL: Hm...

...Well, there's a few options here. Talk. Kill them. Both! There's also a map hanging from their belt- maybe snatch that? It could help you orient yourselves. Also, as far as you know, Acorn Orphanage is somewhere to the west of here. So maybe once you're done here, you can try and escape to the west to get there?

But first, the guard. How to do this?

The Author continues his varous chats. With Taeda, he offers her the statue. Taeda's joy spikes, as she gives the large stone statue a hug. Okay, maybe it's a bit heavy for her, so she sets it down.

TAEDA: Aw, thanks!
TAEDA: I'll be sure to take good care of it!
TAEDA: ...if I can take it back to the house!
TAEDA: I... may need help with that, when we're done here.

The Author then explains to Nana that the turrets were hidden in the grass outside. She nods understanding, though still confused.

NANA: O-Oh! But... don't turrets usually take a long time to build?
NANA: Surely this place didn't come with them, right?
NANA: U-Unless the Devouts are... really that devout!

TAEDA: I wish I was that devout!

He then notes to Nana that perhaps they could move out? The flower's secure, after all. She nods.

NANA: I-If it's fine with you, I-I'd like to return home for a bit!
NANA: This was a fun little adventure, though! A-And we got to grow a Godblossom!

TAEDA: We'll tag along, too!
TAEDA: Adria here needs a bed, I think.
TAEDA: And maybe lunch, too!

As they probably prepare to move out, Auth looks in the back, searching for books on... probably Chairian marriage conduct. Failing to find much on that end however (mostly just hymnbooks and 'bibles' of sorts), he asks Taeda, trying his best to be quiet as to not freak Nana out.

TAEDA: You're... not planning on getting married to Nana, a-are you?
TAEDA: You've only known each other for a short time... s-surely, that'd be rushing t-things?
TAEDA: But... I suppose I could tell you anyway.

TAEDA: Here at the Church of Helix, couples are bound together with the usage of a Yggdrasil Splinter.
TAEDA: Placing it between the palms of the couple, they use Woodmancy to merge both their hands and the splinter together.
TAEDA: The eternal strength of Yggdrasil is the bond that will hold the couple together through thick and thin!
TAEDA: Of course, a proper marriage should also take place within a church of sorts.
TAEDA: The Church of Helix has held many weddings, but usually only for the most wealthy of couples.
TAEDA: Small chapels like this will do fine, but... perhaps it should be in better condition first?
TAEDA: Really, save Sussui and you could probably hold a wedding in the Church of Helix free of charge...

He also asks for a service book, but Taeda unfortunately has nothing on her.

TAEDA: Ah... Devouts tend to not carry anything like that.
TAEDA: The best of us hold these traditions to heart!
TAEDA: ...Not that I have perfect memory, but I know enough to not need to carry a guidebook around.
TAEDA: Maybe there's one around here, but... you've already given it a pretty thorough look, I think.

Is this a roadblock in Auth's "Get Married Any%" speedrun? Who knows? Elsewhere, with Chi, Auth confirms that yes- people don't die when they are killed. Gasp.

CHI: That's utterly fascinating. A place where death doesn't exist...
CHI: A place like that would run me out of business!
CHI: I'd need to consider a new business model... or a new career! If I went there, anyway.
CHI: But maybe medical care is still required? I don't know.

Also likely at the house, Auth explains to Chloe that not all of London is a hellish deathtrap. There are some pretty nice rats, tigers that totally won't eat you, and birds that sink ships wait-

CHLOE: ...Even the BIRDS?
CHLOE: Well, I guess living in a fancy, steampunky airship isn't an option...

CHLOE: A-And, remind me to stay away from the Correspondence!
CHLOE: ...And you.
CHLOE: In London, anyway.
CHLOE: Even if those crawly jerks aren't going for my eyes specifically, I still DO NOT want to see them snacking on eyes!
CHLOE: Bleugh...

At the very least though, the marmalade he's planning to make is normal. Mostly, anyway.

CHLOE: Oh, good.
CHLOE: If it grows legs and eats your eyes though, I will beat you up.
CHLOE: ...And the spider.

Chloe smiles cheerfully as she holds her fist up. Her intimidation levels rise to unknown heights.

Venia yells through the barrier, trying to reach Acacia. Try as she might to reason, she gets no response back. So, there's no other option. Readying one of the two wood-breaching bombs, Venia plugs her ears.

BLAM. The bomb obliterates the final wooden barrier standing between her and the Weapons Testing Chamber, a plume of fire tearing through the wood like a one thousand degree knife versus a block of ice. Venia steps through the now ashen-wood, emerging in the Weapons Testing Chamber. It appears to be a shooting gallery of sorts, high-tech weaponry stashed away in sliding wall panels to the north. There's little in the way of illumination- most of the bulbs in the ceiling have been smashed to bits.

To the south is a sea of metallic targets, each designed to withstand immense punishment. After all, if you're making a deadly, experimental weapon, you'll want it to break through even metal, right? Most of them are humanoid, but two "tabletopian tanks" linger in the back, far larger in scale. In a fairly non-subtle manner, gun barrels poke out from beyond many of the targets.

Upon a pile of rubble and a few absolutely demolished targets, sits a reclining Acacia who swirls around a glass of wine. The right side of her face is dominated by a powerful, piercing crimson glow. As Cypress noted, one of her eyes has been replaced. Venia can feel its gaze sweeping over her body, making dozens of calculations about who-knows-what. Acacia laughs an ever-so-slightly totally unhinged laugh.

ACACIA: Oh. Venia.
ACACIA: You're back. You've come back to me.
ACACIA: Finally, FINALLY.
ACACIA: To think that destroying one little cart would be enough to bring you crawling over to me.

She sits up, and slams the remaining contents of the wineglass down her throat. Once finishes, she hurls it into the ground in front of her, the fragile vessel shattering into thousands of little shards. As she talks down to Venia, venom rolls off her every word.

ACACIA: Oh, Venia. Venia. VENIA.
ACACIA: Everything was going great until you entered my life.
ACACIA: I was the strongest. Unparalleled. Undefeated. I was Spark's darling.
ACACIA: As long as I served him, I could have anything I wanted.
ACACIA: I was his queen. His right hand. His weapon.
ACACIA: But then everything changed.

Flaming spires of wood sneak up from behind her. The flames cast a fierce glow on the soldiers around her. They seem to be legionaries, from a variety of different detachments. They must've been paid off to come here.

ACACIA: I lost.
ACACIA: For the first time, I LOST.
ACACIA: It was so quick. So instant.
ACACIA: Spark threatened to cast me aside if I failed him once again.
ACACIA: I swore to him on my life that I would kill all of you next time.
ACACIA: And then I was marred with flames.
ACACIA: I was forced to be made into this.

From out of the pile of rubble, her new staff floats out. It seems to be made entirely out of Gaiameld Ingots, with an Inferno Regalia jammed messily into its inner workings. She snatches it out of the air.

ACACIA: As I recovered, Spark came to me.
ACACIA: He told me that I was useless.
ACACIA: The utter disgust he had in his eyes...
ACACIA: I was no more than a useless heap of garbage to him.

ACACIA: Were it not for Cypress being in the area, I'm sure he would've killed me right there and then.
ACACIA: But who could blame him for that?
ACACIA: I am his weapon. All I can do is kill.
ACACIA: But who would use a weapon that can't kill a single target?
ACACIA: I should've been burned.

A wide smile crosses her face, though her eyes are utterly devoid of compassion. She stands from her throne, and points her staff towards Venia. A light from her eyes sweeps across the ground, affixing a beam towards Venia's forehead.

ACACIA: But I can change that!
ACACIA: I can make myself useful!
ACACIA: And you know what? He hasn't told me, but oh, I know.

ACACIA: This.
ACACIA: This is all just a test!
ACACIA: This pain, this suffering! The burns, the scars... It's all just a test to see if I am deserving of his love!~
ACACIA: To show how far I am willing to go, what lengths I will go to, to show that I can rise up from the deepest of depths to soar back to his side once again!~
ACACIA: If I just prove myself, I can be his sword once again! I can have my life back!
ACACIA: And he will praise me for my expertise, as the finest, deadliest magi on Sussui!

ACACIA: Hahahahahah...
ACACIA: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!~

Acacia sweeps her staff, the flaming spires behind her shooting out towards Venia at lightning speeds. Fast enough that she can barely even hope to dodge them. They rip her in two, but the power of Autorevive swiftly mends her wounds together. Though this "assassination attempt" failed, there's still a wide smile on Acacia's face.

ACACIA: All I need to do is kill you!
ACACIA: Kill you, and I can reclaim my title!
ACACIA: I'll kill you as many times as it takes!
ACACIA: And sure, maybe I've hired a few troops to help me, but it's not as if they could contribute to a cause as glorious as this!

ACACIA: Hahahaha...
ACACIA: All that matters here is the result.
ACACIA: I will bathe in your blood.
ACACIA: And I.
ACACIA: I won't be useless any longer.

<THE SHOOTING RANGE, ROUND 1>
Acacia time! As per usual, Acacia is an incredibly lethal long-ranged mage. She's brought quite the army with her, so you'll need to break though them to reach her! But don't think you can just go and jump Acacia and get things over with- two Shield Generators give her massive amounts of SHP, so you'll need to smash those to get at her! But to get to those, you'll need to deal with her army! And to deal with her army, you'll need to deal with Acacia! Have fun!

<NORTH OF THE PASS, ROUND 5>
The final group of Rose Cultists have arrived! Honestly, you've been ripping through everything so far, so you should be fine. Just go and burst them down or something, even though one of them has three divine shields.

The Shooting Range

Woodthorne spawns in and moves to H7, then uses Terraform to place cover at C9, D9, I9, J9, and K9.
He then eats his Manabloom Biscuit.

Additionally, he uses Tend to grant Nia Emboldened, once she completes her movement.

Crystal swaps out the First Hat for the Winter Festival Hat, and the Poetry Pamphlet for the Infinidagger. He also changes the Whispering Gauntlet's Physical resist to Crushing.

Lastly, he spends his 2 skillpoints, 1 in HP and 1 in RES.

//////////////////////////////
ERROR: TRANS-MEDIUM TRANSMISSION RECEIVED. PRINTING...

Pope Bill allocates his pending skillpoints to DEF and nothing else!

Pope Bill moves to C8. After he moves, he Abducts Morph1 to C7 and basic-attacks it!

TRANSMISSION ENDS.
/
/////////////////////////////

...Well, that was strange. After the above is processed, Crystal spawns in the same battle.

Through Winter Festivities, he procures a Temmie Powder Cake, a Carnival Corn Dog, and a Bag of Sliced Fruit!

He then moves to D7, and follows up Pope's attack with a basic attack on the Abducted Morph! If that's not enough to down, he performs a Dust Blast, knocking the Morph into the wall with all the Blast's movement and transforming the Enchant:Light he gains to Ordo. On the other hand, if it is enough to down, he uses Condense Petal, letting the Nightmarron Custom condense some of its crystal-dust ammo with a *chunk* and spit out a small sharp throwing-petal made of Light crystal dust.

If the Morph isn't downed after both a basic attack and a Dust Blast, Crystal tosses an Infinidagger at it.
If a basic attack and a Dust Blast were what took it down, Crystal uses Infinidrop to put an Infinipizza in the inventory.
If the Morph was downed after just a Basic Attack, Crystal eats an Infinipizza and transforms its Energized into Ordo with Light Eternal.

BATTLES - THE SHOOTING RANGE

The Reflector spawns at N5, moves to Q8, and casts Mirror Image on P8.
SIDEQUEST - THE BORDER OUTPOST

The Reflector stares at the rebel blankly for a few moments, and then laughs in a voice that anyone who has met them before would recognize as not their own. Well, not their main voice.

???: Oh, so sorry, so sorry! Forgot to turn my disguise off.

The Reflector taps their wrist, and immediately transforms into the guise of a female Chairian wearing rebel colors. She giggles and bows dramatically to the rebel in front of her.

???: Special operative Lilac, reporting in.
"LILAC": And, yes, that is a codename.
"LILAC": Cool tech, huh? Kudan made it for us. Or, they gave it to us, at least. I'm not really involved with the tech stuff.
"LILAC": Top secret infiltration mission back at the Sky Labs. We came back to restock and check out some leads on Spherebreaker activities we discovered.
"LILAC": In fact, it's so top secret, I probably shouldn't even be telling you this much! Promise not to tell on us?
"LILAC": ...

"Lilac" makes a point of staring at Hannah awkwardly.

"LILAC": Uhh, Carica? You know you can drop your alien disguise now, right?

Unless Hannah somehow immediately pulls a Chairian disguise out of her ass, "Lilac" turns and shrugs to the Rebel as if to say, "idk what's up with this weirdo."

Destiny spawns at F4 in the Shooting Range, goes to D4, activates the console, lowering G13, M13 and I13, and retreats to D6.

---------------------------------

There are many worlds of gods! Different realms, all separate from each other, with different rules. Not all of them are evil, though. I, for instance, would like to consider myself benevolent in the way that I let the Crykes flow from down north and into my people's empire throughout the years, even if I am angered.
Ah, well, I know that Scalta would love to punch unjust deities in the face, but alas, it is not our place to neglect our own realm to save others. Having a domain takes a lot of work, you know? Simply not being there can have great consequences! Thankfully, this trip is only a couple days. If I had to be here for weeks or even longer I worry what would happen to my people!

She takes a moment to think about how to describe arm wrestling.

Well, seeing how Taeda noted traditional wrestling as a more Tabletopian thing, I guess arm wrestling would also be somewhat of a Tabletopian thing. Essentially, there's two people who sit down at a table and sit down. They take their right arms and both of them by the hands, and then they both proceed to try to push one's arm down to the table to win. It's somewhat simple, though I guess Chairians aren't physically strong to do that on a regular basis without, like, snapping someone's arm off or something. I'm not the expert on Chairian physiology, though, maybe you would know more.

Battle - The Shooting Range

Hannah wanders into The Shooting Range, after Acacia gives her little spiel. Seems she's sobered up by now. She gives Acacia a cold stare, paying the probably now-annoyed Venia no heed. "...So you're Acacia. The chick that launched the railcar I was in. Well, credit where it's due, it was impressive. Scared the daylights outta me too."

She takes a quick glance at her bow, then back to Acacia.

"...You know, you remind me of... someone. Multiple people, actually. Long story, kinda boring. At the end of the day, we're all animals."

"Anyway, is that another Earthshaker right there? Don't mind if I do~"

((subject to change if anyone wants vampiric venom))

Hannah spawns at (G4), Vampiric Venoms herself and Destiny (note the manafuelled), uses Necro Coating, and shoots the Earthshaker.

"Carica" - Border Outpost

Well, the rebel certainly didn't make things easy for them. Though Hannah remains calm as the Reflector provides a convincing cover story. Hannah - or I guess "Carica" now - plays along. She glares at "Lilac", visibly annoyed. "Ugh, Lilac, didn't I already tell you mine started malfunctioning earlier? And it's a pain to take the entire thing off! I really should get Kudan to look at it later..."

She sighs, turns back to the rebel, and bows. "Anyway, yeah, I'm Special Operative Carica. Pleasure to meetcha."

Chapel - Adria

Adria nods. "We can set the greenhouses to grow things as fast or slow as we need. Though the Thymefield probably uses something else. It affects other things besides plant growth rate; that I know for certain. I can't quite grasp the true nature of it, though."

"I think it might be selective in what it affects. Weapons from outside end up becoming useless, while those made here on the planet are fine. I don't think we're going to age more rapidly, plant or no."

Taeda then asks what's stopping them from just using time magic to enhance trade instead of speeding up crop growth. She smiles at the idea and sentiment, but shakes her head. "It would be a good idea... i-if it weren't for the planet itself. Most of it is desert. Do you have any of those around here? Large, flat, arid areas covered with either sand or rock, and have little to no vegetation or water; usually hot during the day and freezing during the night? That is most of the planet, and unfortunately, our city lies right in the middle of the biggest one."

"The kingdom has the only safely usable soil with its jungles and forests, but it's a very small continent. If it weren't for our lucky placement on a groundwater spring, and the abundance of Chronodust in the desert, we'd be wiped out before they even got a chance to assist."
"A-and, well, there's still the fauna out there that's adapted to the desert, though more often than not it's hostile. And massive, in many cases. Over in the kingdom they have to deal with such beasts as well, adapted to ocean and forested life as opposed to desert life."
"The rivers nearby aren't much help either. While they have some rich soil, we can't settle there. They're hotspots for hostile beasts looking for a drink. And more often than not, their next meal. The ruins of failed attempts lie on the sides of the rivers in the Eternal Desert."
"We could theoretically do so nowadays... but honestly, we don't need it anymore. Having just the one city lets us put resources into other things within an environment that we know will be safe from everything outside."
"I-it's... all a miracle we survived and are currently thriving, now that I'm saying everything out loud..."

She hears Nana and Auth ask about the turrets. Adria was more than happy to share information on them. "Ah, the turrets. Normally it would take an age to fully manufacture four heavy turrets, but I figured that I would use the time dilation properties the Thymefield sometimes applies to my advantage. That plus a few extra shortcuts and a blueprint, and they were ready to go in no time!"
"...B-but I don't think I should have overexerted myself like that... I made them as soon as you two planted the flower, by the way."

Adria gets a little more comfortable, wincing as she accidentally pulls a tired muscle. Then they mention moving out, now that stuff is all protected. She frowns. "Oh, don't worry about me, dears. I-I'm quite comfortable here."
Then she starts . "...Though lunch does sound enticing right about now..."
"...I mean it is only a short way..."

She returns to a neutral expression. "...Mmm, alright, I'll join you. I can't say no to lunch."
"Whenever you're ready, lead the way."

She prepares to get moving by grabbing a long stick that's conveniently lying around, intending to use it as a walking stick once they start moving.

"...I will aid them. No matter the cost to myself."

A Trip To Another Place

In response to Chloe saying she'd like to see the Collective again without having to fight a Lorne Fluke:

Echoss brightens up a little bit, and nods.

ECHOSS: Having some company would not be amiss.
ECHOSS: Given my usual tricks of getting around are inaccessible at the moment, having a friend to go with would definitely be nice.

CHLOE: Alright!~
CHLOE: Lead the way, then!

Echoss motions for her to follow him, and makes his way down to the portal. Once the two have arrived at their destination on the way to the actual destination, he puts in a few small keypresses into the order pad, and the portal whirs to life. Echoss gestures to Chloe.

ECHOSS: After you.

Chloe giggles, before stepping through the gate. In an instant, she’s arrived at a familiar location: the warehouse. It feels like only yesterday she took on a monstrosity known as a Lorn Fluke here. (Perhaps because it was yesterday.) The damages from the fight had already been cleared away, and this time she was able to get a proper look at the room itself.

The first thing that came to mind was how HUGE the place was. Rows and grids of stacked containers of all different sizes stretched in every direction as far as the eye could see, and large vehicles of clean white and gold metal hovered through the air above the intersection with the portal, grabbing boxes with clamps and graspers before flying off to further parts, or other distant intersections before seeming to disappear in hazes of blue-green light.

CHLOE: W-Wow…
CHLOE: This place is far nicer when you get a descriptio- erm, w-when you’re able to enjoy it!
CHLOE: Wonder how they even manage to organize this place...

ECHOSS: Various methods, but primarily things are handled by the storage system AIs.

Echoss, exiting the portal, comes over to stand by Chloe and looks around at the space.

ECHOSS: Handling the smaller warehouses tends to be a straightforward job, albeit one that requires lots of number crunching.
ECHOSS: Really it's just a matter of making sure all the drones are properly coordinated, and fixing any damages or misorganizations before they become significant problems.

CHLOE: ...Wait, smaller warehouses?
CHLOE: There are bigger ones!?
CHLOE: Goodness, and I thought it’d take a long time just to walk to one end of this place to the other...

Echoss gestures upwards as another one of the machines flies overhead, coming to a stop however many meters above them and disappearing in the shimmering blue-green light.

ECHOSS: The dedicated warehouses tend to be very big, yes. It's easier to store raw materials all in one place.
ECHOSS: Teleportation tech is rather essential to our infrastructure.

CHLOE: Oh, right! Teleportation!
CHLOE: Guess that’d make things of this scale more user friendly.

CHLOE: Oh, uh…
CHLOE: I don’t suppose we’re gonna be grabbing a crate full of sandwich materials, are we?
CHLOE: I was thinking maybe we’d get something… fresher.

ECHOSS: No crates. While if it were just me, or just ordering while still on Sussui we could have a package of goods sent, since there's two of us I figured…
ECHOSS: Perhaps some sight-seeing is in order?
ECHOSS: Tell me, have you ever been to an open-air market?

Chloe nods her head.

CHLOE: Of course!
CHLOE: Back on Earth, there are farmer’s markets, food truck festivals…
CHLOE: So much good stuff… but it’s only around for a few days.

Echoss smiles, it's almost a grin.

ECHOSS: Then I think perhaps you'll enjoy what we have.

Echoss walks over to a corner of the intersection area, and pulls a pair of small semi-transparent tags out of a basket, heading back over to Chloe. He press his thumb against one, then the other, and hands Chloe the second one. She holds it in the palm of her hand, giving it a curious look-over. The tag appears to be a miniature screen, there is a small icon with what's presumably a 'map' symbol, and a box with "Guest Permissions" written on it.

ECHOSS: Here. Keep this in a pocket or something, it will help you navigate if we get separated. And also let you use the tele-transit system.
CHLOE: Um, alright.
CHLOE: Is this like… some sort of weird future-phone thing?

ECHOSS: It's an ID tag, a bit too small to be convenient as an actual phone.
ECHOSS: It allows for quick identification, and has navigation features. And an emergency call function too, I suppose that makes it count as a phone though doesn't it?

CHLOE: Seems a bit over-engineered for what could maybe just be an ID card, but alright!
CHLOE: So… where to?

Chloe pulls up the map display on her ID tag. She stands right next to Echoss, pointing at the map. Upon pressing the icon, a small holographic image springs up out of the tag, showing a map of the local area of the warehouse, with the intersections marked with dots of light. Echoss points and press on the dot that they're standing in, and several boxes pop up, each marked as a 'hub' with an identifier after it. Echoss selects one, and with a quick whoosh of air, the two of them are suddenly standing in a large terminal area.

CHLOE W-Whoa!

The soft whirs and humming of the warehouse is replaced the clamor of crowds, as they stand in what appears to be an upscale and upscale-d subway terminal. Above them are windows with light from a crystal blue sky shining in, a number of large artistic chandeliers hanging from the ceiling between upper galleries. People of all kinds move between kiosks labeled as various teleport nodes, talking, examining personal devices, pulling along children...

The sheer variety of people is also somewhat astounding. There seems to be more humans than anything else, but there's still a very large variety. Some people have wings, some differently colored skin or slightly modified physical features, while others have extra limbs or are non-humanoids entirely.

Ever so slightly in a daze from the sudden blitz of culture shock, Chloe takes a few cautionary steps forward. This certainly blew her expectations out of the water. She examines a few of the nearby shops. While there were plenty of almost-familiar sights, some of the things here were completely foreign to her. In addition to the teleport kiosks there were various stands sitting in places just out of the way of the foot traffic that had all kinds of goods, from assorted foods to knick-knacks to… she wasn't sure. Some of the things used words she didn't know, and some of them were just confusing. "Instant dry-clean spray"? What?

ECHOSS: Are you alright Chloe? We can find a quieter place to rest for a moment if you need.
CHLOE: Y-Yeah, I’m alright!
CHLOE: J-Just… alien world!
CHLOE: And sure, Sussui’s alien too, b-but this is just… s-so different!
CHLOE: I-I’m not even sure where to begin looking...

ECHOSS: Well, the kiosk we want to bring us to our destination is over that way.

Echoss points in the direction of a particularly large kiosk, with a sculpture floating above it resembling various fruit falling into a basket.

ECHOSS: That would probably be the first thing for us to head towards.
CHLOE: Oh. Yeah.
CHLOE: That’d make sense. Giant fruit sculpture.
CHLOE: So… let’s go!

Perhaps a bit too on the eager side, Chloe takes Echoss by the hand, and begins her march towards the kiosk in the distance. Echoss is a bit surprised and stumbles a bit as she pulls him along at first, but quickly catches up the pace, following behind her until they reach the kiosk. Once they reach it, he pulls out his own ID tag and brings up the map, then selecting another teleport location. With another whoosh of air, they relocate once more.

CHLOE: ...Wait, did we even need to walk there?
CHLOE: Couldn’t we have just teleported right away?

ECHOSS: Once upon a time, yes.
ECHOSS: But it turns out that having open access teleportation everywhere makes those few people still of a criminal bent…
ECHOSS: Rather more difficult to catch.
ECHOSS: So teleportation is locked except between nodes so that travel can be monitored in restricted areas, and also so people can't do things like teleport lit bombs into a marketplace.

...Chloe’s eyes widen. And not just because she teleported again.

CHLOE: O-Oh.
CHLOE: U-Um… a-alright!
CHLOE: T-That’s a bit… concerning.
CHLOE: You’d think w-with such a high quality of life and technological advancements, nobody would n-need to...

She takes a few deep breaths, nervously looking down at the area she just warped into.

ECHOSS: It's… not something that happened frequently. And in a place as large as the Collective that's saying something.
ECHOSS: But sometimes there are people who are just… not good people.
ECHOSS: People that you could put the entire world on a platter just for them, and they'd still want to make other people hurt.
ECHOSS: They're few and far between, but it's still important to make sure that they can't hurt other people too badly.

CHLOE: Mmm…
CHLOE: I guess even here, s-some things don’t change...

Echoss nods.

ECHOSS: There are certain prices you pay to let people continue being people.
ECHOSS: Letting people make their own decisions.
ECHOSS: I think in the end though, it's worth it. Some people may be horrible, but many others will do wonderful things if given half the chance.

CHLOE: Y-Yeah...

After a deep sigh, Chloe suddenly springs up, jumping a short distance forward.

CHLOE: A-Anyway, h-how about we get going?
CHLOE: We can’t leave everyone waiting, right?

ECHOSS: A little bit of time manipulation is in place, we'll be okay as long as we don't take TOO long.
CHLOE: Ooh! Cool!
CHLOE: Kinda like what Asha does. Maybe.

ECHOSS: I'd have to ask her to be sure, but the point remains.
ECHOSS: We've got time as long as don't dawdle TOO much.
ECHOSS: Now then, let's head out there.

Echoss heads forward, motioning for her to follow through the doorway out of the entry room. Chloe follows along closely, not nearly as keen to take the lead as before.

ECHOSS: Welcome to Gidora Marketplace.

The two of them stand in a large grassy courtyard, looking out over a hillside with paths and stalls stretching out for quite a distance. Around the courtyard are a handful of shops before the courtyard reaches the main path and splits in several directions to reach the rest of the market. Good smells and the sounds of people drift through the air. Chloe’s worries melt away as the scents fill her nostrils, urging her to skip forward right up to Echoss’s side.

ECHOSS: Now then, we should stay here in the welcome courtyard for a little bit, but if you want to see what the shops here have in the meantime we can do that.
CHLOE: I’d love to take a look!
CHLOE: If I had the chance to just sorta explore around Sussui, I’d have done that by now.
CHLOE: But this is even better, I’d think!

Echoss lets out another laugh.

ECHOSS: Right you are. You investigate some of the shops, I'll get a storage item for when we start grabbing the things to take back.
CHLOE: Alright!

Chloe wanders out to thoroughly the edges of the courtyard, making sure to not stray too far from Echoss’s position. She darts through and between the various shops located around there with haste, her mind barely able to comprehend this flurry of new sights, sounds, and scents. Had she any legal tender, she’d probably have bought herself a dozen or so delicious(?) snacks for herself by this point. She is however, more than happy to take a free sample from what seemed to be a bakery of sorts. She’d never quite tasted anything so sweet- it had a mix of sugary taste and sweet fruit that she couldn't quite put a finger on, but it'd still been good!

After a short while of that Echoss approaches her, holding a smallish cube that held a glowing orb in its center.

ECHOSS: Enjoying yourself? Terrence should be here soo-
TERRENCE: Right here, in fact. What are you doing up?
CHLOE: Eep!

One of Terrence's floating hummingbirds zips down from the air, past Chloe's shoulder to hover in front of Echoss. It drops a small card into Echoss's hand, then transforms into the holograph of Terrence.

TERRENCE: Sir, with all due respect you're supposed to still be asleep right now.
ECHOSS: Yes, I know. I actually am, for the most part. This node is the only one conscious or active.

Terrence stares at him. Chloe meanwhile, stands on the sidelines, not sure whether she should step in or not.

TERRENCE: ...If your sleep containment unit weren't still active I'd be rather suspicious of that claim.
TERRENCE: Can we… can we at least talk about how you're doing this?
TERRENCE: You need to take care of yourself.

ECHOSS: I know. I know…
ECHOSS: But please, trust me on this, I will be okay. I will not be doing anything too strenuous until the rest of me is done resting.

TERRENCE: Okay…
TERRENCE: I suppose let me know if you need anything else. You know how to contact me.

He transforms back into his hummingbird form, and starts to zip away, pausing for just a moment by Chloe.

TERRENCE: Thank you Miss Elem.
CHLOE: A-Ah, you’re welcome!
CHLOE: I’ll make sure he doesn’t do anything too crazy!

TERRENCE: I appreciate it.

And with that he disappears off into the sky once more. Echoss watches as Terrence goes.

ECHOSS: I… He's rather patient with me, isn't he?
ECHOSS: Either way, I have a deposit card with me now, so we can actually make some purchases.

CHLOE: Alright!
CHLOE: Could you lead the way? I… don’t really know where to begin looking.

ECHOSS: Of course.

Echoss gestures for Chloe to follow as he makes his way past the courtyard shops and heads down into the main market itself, with all kinds of stalls selling an even more dizzying array of products. Fresh produce and baked goods, artisanal goods from figurines and carvings to colorful paintings and even electronics and gadgets. Going as they went, they purchased things from various stands. Pristine vegetables and a selection of jams and sliced meats. A handful of different kinds of cheese, as well as peanut butter and a few other things to go with like honey and a strange sweet-cream spread that Echoss insisted was a good match. They also bought a cute cat-like figurine that caught Chloe’s eye, which she absolutely had to have. Each purchase besides the figurine being placed into the pocket dimension held in the storage cube.

Finally, content that the chosen goods would be plenty for the picnic assembly, the two sat down outside of a small soda stand with drinks. Chloe gives her figurine a few pats on the head.

CHLOE: Cat!
ECHOSS: I believe it's a good luck talisman too. Rather traditional, but always good to have one.
ECHOSS: On another topic, I believe we still have some time before we need to head back. ECHOSS: Would you perhaps like to see something else before we leave?

CHLOE: Ooh! Could we?
CHLOE: Um, let me think...

Chloe bobs her head around, taking the occasional sip of soda as she scans her brain. Her eyes drift around the plaza. Advertisements were plastered across some of the walls. While she usually paid those sorts of things little mind, this was an alien land! There had to be something interesting!

CHLOE: Ah, there’s a place called Carlyle Arena, right?
CHLOE: I didn’t think there’d be anything like that around here! Let’s give it a visit!

ECHOSS: Oh yes! That's quite the popular venue, and there's even a tournament currently ongoing.

Echoss stands up.

ECHOSS: It's on another globe, but that's still only a terminal hop away.
CHLOE: A… globe?
CHLOE: Well, as long as we don’t need to walk all the way.
CHLOE: Mind leading the way again?

ECHOSS: Not at all. I am acting as tour guide this time, am I not?

Echoss waits just a moment for Chloe to join him. Perhaps to his surprise, Chloe is eager to take his hand. They then begin making their way back to the top of the marked hill where the teleport node they'd come in through was.

ECHOSS: While we're on our way there, would you perhaps like an explanation as to the location change? The 'globe'?
CHLOE: Um, sure! Why not?
ECHOSS: I don't know if you remember yesterday, when I explained the Echo Collective a little more thoroughly…
ECHOSS: Either way, the Collective is a very large place. We are currently in Sphere Andea, on Globe Alkaihar.
ECHOSS: There are seven Spheres, though only five have been restored and only four are in active use. Each Sphere is… well, I suppose now's not the time for exact specifications.
ECHOSS: The point is rather that each Globe is a planet. Usually terrestrial in Sphere Andea, though there are a couple of scattered gas giants. Far from the majority though.

CHLOE: So… it’s like, planets inside of planets?
CHLOE: That’s… incredible!
CHLOE: I wonder if humanity will ever be able to do anything insane like that in the future...

ECHOSS: Not quite planets inside of planets.
ECHOSS: While the Globes are planet sized, the Spheres are much, much larger.
ECHOSS: I suspect that the engineering used in the construction of the Echo Collective's current layout is not possible in your home universe however.
ECHOSS: Actually I'm quite certain of it. There's a good deal too much magic involved for such physics-defying creations to be plausible there.

CHLOE: ...Ah.
CHLOE: I guess it makes sense that magic is involved.

CHLOE: ...Oh, there!
CHLOE: I think that’s where we came from.

ECHOSS: Indeed it is!

With just a little bit more walking, and a few hops between teleport nodes, the duo soon find themselves standing in another entryway room. Out beyond the doorway is a grand, towering colosseum built of sparkling metal. Or is it stone? It's hard to tell which with the way it glimmers in the sunlight beneath the… cherry red sky?

CHLOE: Whoa!
CHLOE: Y’know, coliseums aren’t really a thing in my day and age!
CHLOE: Nowadays, we just have big arenas for sporting events.
CHLOE: Nobody’s built something like this for a long time!

ECHOSS: It was a stylistic choice on the part of the owner.
ECHOSS: She has something of a fascination with ancient Earth cultures, if my memory serves me well.
ECHOSS: It also probably helps having the resources on hand for such major structures.

CHLOE: Ah? She’s a fan of Earth?
CHLOE: Didn’t think us earthlings could be so influential!

ECHOSS: It would take a bit of a lesson in multiversal cosmology to explain, but…

A roar of cheering erupts from inside the colosseum, interrupting Echoss's train of exposition. Sounds like someone's won a match.

ECHOSS: Well then, I believe we should head in?
ECHOSS: We only have an hour or two before we should head back.

CHLOE: Yeah!
CHLOE: Although… I wonder what matches are like here.
CHLOE: Surely, it’s not as barbaric as it was back then...

ECHOSS: It is not, this venue usually features disqualification for any form of severe injury, even with the medical staff on hand.

A short walk later, and the two of them have arrived inside the walls of the colosseum. It doesn’t take long for them to pay for and find seats amidst the sea of attendees. Down below in the center of the pit, displayed on large TV screens for people in further seats to see more clearly, pairs of combatants come into the ring, each clad in protective gear and equipped with a startlingly varied variety of equipment.

The fights vary in length, some dragging out to a few minutes as one individual weathers the fury of their opponents' blows with glimmering magical shields, others passing by so fast that almost nobody can see what happened until the televised replays.

CHLOE: Y’know, they don’t seem that good.
CHLOE: I could take them! Where do I sign up?

ECHOSS: Are you sure? We're still in the preliminary matches, we could go down to the front office if you want...
CHLOE: W-Wait, r-really!?
CHLOE: T-That was a joke! I’m already fighting enough battles as-is!

Echoss laughs again.

ECHOSS: Perhaps my own humor game is a bit underdeveloped.
ECHOSS: The tournament will likely last a week or two in full for all the brackets anyways.
ECHOSS: It's better to just sit back and relax for now.

CHLOE: Two whole weeks?
CHLOE: Wow. What’s the prize? Money? Fame? Chicks?

ECHOSS: Hm, I'm not sure. There's definitely a title of some kind on the line, and likely item vouchers.
ECHOSS: Where did I put the flier...

Echoss starts patting the pockets of his outfit, and sighs after realizing he left the informational paper somewhere else. As he searches, Chloe intently watches the current bout. Two new contestants enter the ring, one of them sporting a large battleaxe, and the other a twisted wizarding staff.

The fight begins at the announcer's call in almost the blink of an eye, the warrior lunging forward with a great overhand swing that the mage nearly avoids, before slamming a bolt of glimmering light into his opponent that sends him skidding sideways into a roll. The two exchange blows, strike and strength matching magic and speed.

As the fight goes on, the mage begins putting up magical barriers, each one bouncing back a set of blows before shattering, the warrior visibly growing more frustrated with each one. This all culminates when the warrior slams their axe at full strength against a fracturing barrier, plunging right through it… and cleaving the mage's dominant arm clean off.

Chloe doesn't even register the announcer declaring the warrior disqualified. All she can do is shriek, muffling herself ever so slightly with her hands. While she’s seen such brutality before on the fields of Locaa, it’s not... quite what she expected to witness here.

CHLOE: O-Oh, heavens…
CHLOE: H-How is blood sport l-like this l-legalized?

Echoss leans over and hugs her lightly.

ECHOSS: Give it just a moment, look-

Echoss points down. The mage doesn't seem perturbed by having lost an arm at all. Well, that's not totally true, they're currently apparently yelling at the warrior more in the tone you might yell at someone who's damaged your phone or ruined a restaurant meal than someone who's actually hurt you. A shimmering field has been projected by the shoulder of their protective equipment, and the bleeding has been stopped quite immediately.

In barely even a few seconds a figure in a medical outfit zooms onto the field, pulling the mage away from their tirade. The mage glares in sullen silence as the medic begins gesturing around the stump of their arm, which begins to glow, and soon enough has grown out into a full arm, good as new.

CHLOE: O-Oh…
CHLOE: That’s a relief…
CHLOE: But w-what happens if like, h-he were to lose his head? W-What would happen then!?

ECHOSS: Then he'd likely be even more upset after the medic healed him.
ECHOSS: Generally speaking we require a day or two of resting time to make sure nothing goes wrong with a rez spell before we let people back into potentially dangerous areas.
ECHOSS: Time lost in such a way tends to be rather… frustrating for career tournament fighters.

CHLOE: T-To think that such injuries are just mere annoyances here…
CHLOE: That’s amazing, but also… kinda terrifying?

Echoss nods, slowly letting go of the hug.

ECHOSS: That tends to be one of the things immigrants have the most difficulty adjusting too.
ECHOSS: Only rare and deliberate action can cause a proper, permanent departure here.
ECHOSS: And the things that can cause it are well enough controlled that such instances are newsworthy across the entire Collective for quite some time.
ECHOSS: When you have the ability to cherry pick powers and technologies from across the Multiverse… a lot of things stop being so much of an obstacle.
ECHOSS: It's safe here. People are able to pursue things that make themselves and others happy, to learn and grow.
ECHOSS: And many brilliant individuals have dedicated numerous lifetimes to ensuring that.

CHLOE: Amazing!
CHLOE: T-Though… maybe you could’ve told me something like this would’ve happened beforehand?
CHLOE: Seriously, t-this could’ve been pretty scarring...

ECHOSS: I apologize, I made the mistake of assuming the tournament had left preliminaries, and it didn't occur to me to give a warning when we learned otherwise.
ECHOSS: Generally anyone who makes it to the full matches is experienced enough not to make mistake like that.

CHLOE: Ah…

Chloe perks up, taking a few deep breaths. A bit of a rush, but at least everything turned out okay, right? Her mind drifts a little, as the medical team clears the field, and combat resumes.

CHLOE: Oh, how long have we been here?
CHLOE: Think it’s about time we head back?

ECHOSS: If you would like, we still have about half an hour though I think.
ECHOSS: If you need, we could take some time to rest in the park outside the arena before we head back.

CHLOE: I’d like that.
CHLOE: I’m not really in the mood for more of this, anyway.
CHLOE: Shall we get going?

Echoss nods and stands, offering Chloe a hand up. She gladly takes it, before standing up herself and following him out of the arena. The garden area outside the arena is peaceful, once they reach the paths to the side. The noise from the colosseum seems to dampen unusually quick. Soon the only sounds is the occasional chatting of other people in the gardens, and noise of the small decorative fountains and creeks. The two of them find a bench, and take a seat.

ECHOSS: Are you going to be okay?
CHLOE: Yeah, I’ll be fine.
CHLOE: Just gotta rest a bit...

Chloe leans up against Echoss’s shoulder, blushing gently as she does so. Her golden hair runs down his shoulders, and her eyes go shut. Echoss looks down at the young woman leaning against him, and then stares off into the distance, contemplatively.

CHLOE: A-Ah, um…
CHLOE: Echoss, c-could I ask you s-something?

ECHOSS: Oh?
ECHOSS: Yes, go ahead.

CHLOE: O-Okay!
CHLOE: H-Here it goes!

Try as she might, Chloe’s unable to speak. She blushes profusely, as Echoss's brow furrows for a moment, but he lets her collect herself. After a few moments of awkward stammering, Chloe takes a deep breath, and sighs.

CHLOE: S-So…
CHLOE: I… t-think I have… f-feelings for you.
CHLOE: U-Um…
CHLOE: C-Could… w-we maybe…?

She trails off, unable to finish her sentence. Her blush has enveloped her whole face, blonde hair framing her now-crimson pallet. Echoss sits in silence, clearly stunned by the sudden confession.

ECHOSS: I… Chloe… I…
ECHOSS: I can't.

CHLOE: …
CHLOE: Eh?

Chloe blinks twice. Her mouth hangs ajar, sort of in a smile still. It is unclear if her face can glow any redder.

ECHOSS: Do you… do you remember, when we met a few days ago.
ECHOSS: When I told you my age?
ECHOSS: I'm currently older than any currently standing civilization on your homeworld.
ECHOSS: And you aren't… you aren't even of legal age normally yet.
ECHOSS: An actual, official relationship between us…
ECHOSS: It wouldn't be safe, or fair, to put you in that circumstance.
ECHOSS: Which… isn't even to say how our lives may diverge from here.

CHLOE: I-I didn’t e-even think about t-that…
CHLOE: Hahahaha...

Chloe places her face in her hands, not sobbing, but just the slightest bit shocked. She could perhaps relate to how Nia felt those years ago when she confessed to her. And, at the moment, she really wished she had something to take her mind off of things. At least Nia got ice cream after getting rejected. Echoss seems to feel similarly awkward, not sure whether he should try to hug and comfort her or not.

ECHOSS: And if…
ECHOSS: If you head back home once the Sphere is done and dealt with…
ECHOSS: There's no guarantee I would be able to find you again.
ECHOSS: People here in the Collective may be able to live effectively indefinitely but…
ECHOSS: That's not really true back home for you. On your own you'd be lucky to live to a hundred, perhaps two hundred if you delved into magical studies using the gifts you've been given far enough.
ECHOSS: I… I'm sorry.

CHLOE: A-Agh…
CHLOE: Well… i-it was worth a shot, r-right?
CHLOE: R-Right?
CHLOE: D-D-Don’t answer that! Aagh...

ECHOSS: I… I think it's better to have said it now than regretted having not said it later.
ECHOSS: Under different circumstances perhaps… perhaps I would've been able to give a different answer.

CHLOE: I-I just said n-not to answer!
CHLOE: B-But… I guess you’re r-right…
CHLOE: U-Um...

Chloe stands up from the bench, her blush starting to die down, at least a little.

CHLOE: M-Maybe we should g-get going?
CHLOE: Walking back m-might help m-me take my mind off of t-things...

ECHOSS: Al-Alright.

Echoss stands back up, and starts leading the way back. The two of them walk the rest of the way back to the teleport node, between hopping points, and eventually back to the portal back to the Sussui, in silence. Echoss constantly shooting looks over at Chloe, still uncertain what to do. Many soul-sucking minutes later, the swordswoman breaks the silence.

CHLOE: H-Hey, um…
CHLOE: W-We’re… still friends, right?
CHLOE: I’m s-sorry if I made everything awkward b-between us...

ECHOSS: Definitely. You're the first real friend I've made in a very long time…
ECHOSS: The fact that you gave me the first heartfelt declaration of love I've received in an even longer time is not something I'm going to let sour it.

CHLOE: A-Ah, I’m glad…
CHLOE: I was s-so worried I ruined things…
CHLOE: Thanks f-for… being so understanding.

Echoss finally makes up his mind and gives Chloe a hug, holding her close for a few seconds before letting her go again.

ECHOSS: Of course, Chloe.
CHLOE: W-Well, then!
CHLOE: Shall we get going?
CHLOE: I’m… still hungry.

ECHOSS: Let's go then!

And with that, they head back through. To Sussui and finally reaping the rewards of this overly long RP piece!
