True, a lot of time has been sunk into this, and there is plenty of reason to get upset over various things, but much of what's been happening over the last couple months looks a lot like accumulated stress and !!Disgruntlement!! from all sorts of things, related and otherwise, welling up, rather than justifiable anger with the specific cause.
{Sorry, for about two years I lived with like three people who were fascinated with psychology, and who listened to many, many audiobooks on the subject, so some tendency to analyze such things has stuck around.}
While I had a more detailed response to all this in mind, I think this will suffice. "Geez, everybody's so... Miffed, you should really just relax, it's only a game."
jfc is there always this much drama or is it because the game is ending like dear lawd

Hm, it's a bit tricky to understand honestly. Let's leave it at "Piono does too well at aggravating everybody with his stupid antics, his 'contributions' to the plot are sometimes viewed as deliberate self-insertion to the point of it being really unfair to others who might not want piono to have such a freaking giant role in the plot, even for how relatively small it is, He's also been a bit obsessive with getting his own personal arc done, even if at the expense of others getting dragged into it, possibly unwillingly." ...That probably wasn't the best description but w/e.

Yeah, I realized my mistakes too late. About when Twin made Scratch say that Fourth-Wall Guardians don't exist. I realized that I was trying to make Maniac seem... important. Truth be told, he was supposed to be a First Guardian. Remember, I hadn't read Homestuck at that point, so I didn't know some important First Guardian facts.
But, to be honest, I actually knew from the beginning that you guys didn't exactly like me. No one (well, besides Twin) commented on it, it was just one of those feelings. The only person who helped me out was, in fact, Piono. He tried to help my Fourth-Wall Guardian story. When Twin denied it, he stood up for me.
Sure, Piono made some bad mistakes. But he's still a great guy with a big heart. Thanks Piono.

I honestly don't know why, but I always enjoyed you Maniac.
I remember having a reason for liking you so much, but my memory is failing me more and more. (I have the HARDEST time memorizing names and stuff.) Maybe it was the unique forum games you held. Who knows? (Well, I did know, but I forget.)
As for Piono, he does like to have a huge, HUGE impact on the plot. I could post some of Tazz's post onto here, but I shouldn't because you should read the whole thing. Despite this beheavior, Piono's still a nice guy, with good story-telling talent.
I have this feeling though, that I'm going to flip out and spin a story for DTG 3 though. I've been setting things up, like on here and on TV Tropes.
How that manifests, is that I tend to obsess over things, and when I start to get into something, I end up edging in and trying to take over.
Its completely subconscious, so without someone pointing it out to me, I don't realize that I'm stepping on other peoples' toes.
Hence me asking, early on, for twin to tell me if I was trying to take over.
I had this grand idea for a unified theory of everything, and yes, I interfere with other peoples' plots, but what people don't seem to get DESPITE me saying it out loud, I expect, and WANT, other people to do the same thing with mine.
I guess part of the problem is difference in ideals. I came up with the MBoA and Vord Invasion initially because, yes, my plot. By the time they were implemented though, I wanted it to be something else.
The Vord Invasion went through because I had ideas for numerous different gimmicks, and I didn't really enjoy that one much either, because, as was stated before, it turned into a dull hack n' slash when I failed to properly communicate the gimmicks to twin, and by the time I realized I had failed to communicate any of the gimmicks properly, it was too late. That's my fault entirely.
I came up with the MBoA because twin had stated that he needed us to try and wind down our personal plotlines, and I had my thing with Vriska. the MBoA was actually conceived to COUNTERACT what would have been a piono-centered event, and obviously it didn't work. I had meant for other people to contact twin in private to ask about summoning up their own plot-related armies so that it wouldn't just be focused on me and would be a large swirl of various different sub-plots coming to a head. I did the three armies because my first and third armies spent almost all of their life force fighting my second army (which was originally supposed to lose to the third, but didn't because everyone dogpiled on the first and third army)
As with the Vord Invasion, somewhere along the line, that idea got lost, and nobody realized what had actually been intended was something for other people.
As for the Trickster vs. Grimdark, I DID actually enjoy that somewhat. I don't think I handled it very well, there was something going on at the time I think I was trying to do, and thinking back, I'll admit I mangled my response to that. But I liked the idea, I was just handling it poorly, which has been happening to me.
But with the IUPC, I'm not forcing anybody. They can turn it down if they so wish, and can be evicted from the IUPC without too much loss. The IUPC at this point (and most likely throughout all of the DTG franchise) is not going to have the firepower to suppress the darkness and chaos that is currently the multiverse, possibly not even in the small bubble of safety that I'm intending on setting up as the IUPC homebase's location.
If people think I'm forcing them into it, I'm not. I haven't been trying to force people into the middle of my plots at all.
Of the arguments I've gotten into, all of them have been over mechanics, because plot holes are one of my pet peeves, and character interactions are going to be a bit off, its a forum game, but I like my magical limitations, interactions and such constant. That's what my arguments have been over since the start of Act 2, without exception. I don't like giving the explanation for something happening being 'Because the plot requires it', since that's lazy writing. The Narrative was invented so that people could justify improbable events happening so that such could happen WITHOUT needing to disrupt the power scale.
The argument with fseftr over whether or not BTG was canon was the, and remains to this day, the only exception to that. And because of the fact that it was just to spite me, I don't really feel the need to rescind that particular argument. Nor will I apologize for it.
Because, for HEAVENS SAKE PEOPLE! I'm straight up and honest with you! Is it too much to ask that you do the same for me? If you don't like what I'm doing, then TELL ME!!! I have told you people to do this, AGAIN AND AGAIN! I can't tell when people are being passive aggressive, its a waste of energy, and either results in the recipient feeling hurt, getting angry, and retaliating, or it being completely missed on the part of the other person thinking that its sincere and the person who's trying to do it ending up just getting angrier because they think they're being ignored!!
I can't believe you people. If you really think that the way to solve this is through poorly-planned passive aggressive idiocy, In Universe, then you all need to have your heads examined, because I haven't forced you to do anything.
Not a single one of you.
I had two events to myself, and both of them ended up being that because everyone assumed I was trying to commandeer the plot and didn't make anything of them like the events were made to be.
Literally every time I've hijacked the plot has been because NOBODY bothered to take the pilot seat when I metaphorically gestured for someone else to take the wheel! So excuse me if I've continued. Nobody did anything to imply they wanted otherwise beyond passive aggressive posturing and complaining behind my back.
I do ask OOC, or at the least think people will recognize that I'm going somewhere with my stuff, not even know where, just recognize that I'm doing more than idly bantering when I talk about grand empires and whatnot. Its not rocket science people! Its not even social cues, because as I have demonstrated, I don't have the slightest clue how to use them, and as such, don't even try!
So tazz, thank you. Far from being impolite, you were the only one who actually WAS civil.
Twin, for heaven's sake, I went and ASKED you about every, single, stinking one of the things. You could've just told me right off the bat. The Vriska thing was my fault in part, but the Vord didn't have to happen. I left hints about it, but if you'd decided to confront me and say; "No." I probably would've accepted it.
Erelye: Don't you DARE say that I forced membership in the IUPC on you. The only person who can make complaints to that effect is Serpent, and that's because I left her with an extra copy of Astria she hadn't anticipated because I screwed up her plot, which I didn't realize you were unhappy with by the way serpent, because, just like everybody else, YOU DIDN'T FREAKING SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT!!!
Everyone else that's angry: You people can just shut your traps. I haven't done anything to you. You had grievances, so you tried to undermine my playing experience rather than bringing it up with me. I haven't done anything to you people roleplay-wise, and gameplay-wise, the only two incidents where I did more than any of the rest of you only went foul because no one wanted to touch it because of passive-aggressive BS.
Now that I know that this has been going on, I'm taking my hands off of the debacles that were the Vord Invasion and the MBoA. As it turns out, those going sour weren't my fault like I was thinking they were. Just everyone else being too full of themselves to look past the fact that twin hadn't been the main person behind the event and trying to have fun with it. The Vord invasion was still mine a little bit, but yeesh. I'm almost physically sick to my stomach now I'm so disgusted with you guys.
And thanks to amp, maniac and ire, for also not being buttheads about this whole thing.
And yes, I've been significant in the plot, but the main reason is because nobody's listened to my numerous mini-rants on trying to help other people up.
I've been frustrated because nobody's been latching onto the opportunities I've been trying to make to link people's plots together. If you people really think I was trying to commandeer the plot, you need to start paying attention to my OOC talk.
I have been frustrated by my ending up as being overly-important as well. I've been a little peeved with twin's analysis of the plot of DTG2 in the wiki leaving out the contributions of specific players, but I didn't say anything because I realized that bringing it up would sound self-centered because piono happens to be behind half the stuff. And then I bring in Eric, who's only significant to the plot because he happens to be related to piono, and rather than trying to accept that I'm trying scale down my plothole-footprint as I'm going to call it, everyone takes the opportunity of me bringing in a less plot-central character to try and jump on me!
Do you guys WANT me to go back to hijacking the plot every other round with Piono? Yes? No? Then don't freaking attack the guy who I brought in specifically to avoid that!
Screaming PLOT TUMOR at me doesn't do anyone any good, so, as I told erelye in the thread, do or do not, just don't. freaking. whine. If you want me to stop being so over the top of everyone else, either, a. start taking advantage of footholds I've been trying to place, and pull yourselves up to a comparable level, b. Build your own ways up so that I'm not the only one that is 'plot central', or maybe you'll decide to keep being passive aggressive and c. decide that what I've done is too intrusive and completely rip apart the plot just to spite me, or d. sit there in a puddle of your own filth and misery and continue complaining about how I've RUINED DTG FOREVAH!!!
Try and do something constructive, I have not, at any point in time, been trying to commandeer the plot. I was, actually, operating under the impression that other people had been talking to twin about events as well. I am very disappointed that there won't be any huge plot twists coming from other people.
All things considered, piono, I don't really see how having a giant battle with a bunch of armies was supposed to help most of our personal plotlines. That's just my point of view, and I apologize if you disagree, but for most of us a giant army would seem rather out of place compared to the relatively contained personal plotlines most of us have. Apologies if anyone else disagrees with me. Also, it almost feels a bit like "The Narrative" is synonymous with "the plot requires it," but maybe you have a different opinion?
As for the MBoA and Vord, I don't recall knowing that you were the one behind it, but maybe I did. I think the former could have been planned out a bit better, as well as the latter. but I'm not really going to blame that on you, more on the lack of effectively getting it across.
And to anybody who wasn't particularly happy that I turned them Trickster, or just my actions as a Trickster in general, I plead insanity in-character and a dedication to an accurate portrayal of said insanity out of character, as well as blaming Twin for making me stay Trickster. Yeah, pretty late on that, but just wanted to explain.
Besides, I recall converting like, one character? And then Serpent pretty much converted everyone else who became a Trickster. I also attempted Erelye, and apparently Ire was already a Trickster? Either way, Tricky was your way of being involved in GvT, but the problem that people had with that was that it wasn't really justified for him to do so, IMO.
I also think that most of the time people don't really want huge waves in the plot? I mean, I get the feeling that people just want to let things unfold, taking the plot as is and their own personal plotlines along at relatively normal speeds.
Bluh. I really felt the need to type that out, and I tried to not make it a rant as much as I could. I really want to just play the game calmly, but people are getting angry over it. Understandable: This is taking time and effort on everyone's part to do, it's not as impersonal as just watching a TV show. You can't really undo the time and effort you put into it. MST3K Mantra can't apply nearly as much. That being said, I really think people should remind themselves it IS a game in the end.

Nope, sorry guys, no Destroy the Godmodder relevant stuff here...
At least, not yet.
