Welcome to O(N^N)! Pronounced, "O of N to the N".

This is my attempt at making an RPG, so you guys better enjoy it. You can call it Chaos like, if you want. It shares many of the super basic rules of Chaos (as in, they're both turn based, semi-grid based RPGs). However, instead of using a Google Sheet for the map, I use a full 3D model in Blender. I have no idea how it will go, but that's why we're going to try it!

Welcome to everyone who's joined. I think I'll wait for 1 or 2 more people, especially because you're all meleers, so you don't have anyone who can reliably heal (although Darkside can heal) or destroy cover. It's also best to have at least 2 people who can heal, because it's hard for healers to heal themselves. Although maybe this will just reveal spots of unbalance. I kinda hope it does.

Edit - With how big the map is, I've done two things. First, basically all ranged attacks are now more accurate. Second, all melee weapons give (an additional) +1 SPD, and you can attack with a melee weapon in the middle of your movement.

Okay... big news. The biggest news. The biglyest news. We're actually starting, and I updated a bunch of stuff.

First, the update. O(N^N) V 0.2, the simplicity update, is now out.

Change Log


In rough order of descending importance (most important to least)...

Ranged weapons completely changed

Grace completely changed. Changed balancing with it and with AC

Most melee weapons have gotten their EP gain buffed to compensate for how ranged weapons are more accurate now. Especially large melee weapons.

Added the overwatch mechanic, because I couldn’t think of a better name than what X-Com uses. It’s more flexible than X-Com overwatch though, and can be done with melee weapons.

Death’s Door has been simplified and rebalanced a bit.

Ircucvci has been changed to become more defensive. It now has the ability to deflect projectiles, but it deals less damage and is a little less accurate.

Diamond Scythe buffed slightly

Clarified things about the Coffee Cup and Mythril Trash Can

Added Plasma Railgun and Super Snipe for more snipper weapons

Buffed teh chairs.

Made the Wiggle Beam EXPLOSIVE! At the cost of some accuracy and damage, though. Now it can be used as a demolition weapon.

Buffed the Bazookoid slightly

Removed Gunther, as it didn’t work super well with the new system.

Super massively buffed Disco Beam, yeah.

Elemental Shield can now protect against Physical much better.

Removed Ice Bridge because it wasn’t really that interesting and I didn’t feel like copying it over.

Magic Blade is now percentage based

Added Gunther, the one weapon totally immune to the simplicity update.

Removed fixup as I didn’t want to copy it over and didn’t think anyone would use it.

You can now throw dragon eggs at people with Dirt Blast, even if there were never on the map to begin with.



Second, visual customization. Right now, I'm using Minecraft models for everyone because I couldn't find a textured Mei/Widowmaker model. You can suggest pretty much any model you want me to use, as long as it actually works in Blender. I can use .blend, .obj, or .stl files. Although I would prefer the first two to the last one, because .stl was designed for 3D printing, not modeling.

Another thing I'd like is for everyone to pick a color that you want to represent you. Just pick a hexcode. This will be used to show your hitbox, your tile, and the paths of your shots.

Third, I suppose, if nobody takes the role of grenadier (destroying terrain w/ AOE attacks), I'll make Cynder a character and have her fill that role, because I want to see if that actually works well enough to be a playstyle. I would think it would be quite important.

I'm currently working on setting up the battlefield so it's all pretty and stuff. It's taking me a bit longer than expected, but I should get into a rhythm.

Edit for the like the 17th time because I keep forgetting stuff - If you want me to use a custom model, just give me a link to where I can download it. And you can usually find stuff by searching (something) .obj. There's also websites like blendswap and sketchfab that have a lot of models.

@urus: Is this enough of a "mockery of the human form"?

I use hookshot to grapple up to the top point of our castle, and climb on top of the point. (6 blocks east, 6 blocks north, 7 blocks up).
Unfortunately you can't take an action and then move, oh wait, I didn't intend on moving, I'm just going to sit here and snipe some fools.

I do taunt from the top of the spire.

WHOOPS NO MANA AT THE START OF BATTLES

I move southwest one block (1 move), then West two, finally hopping up on top of the three block high wall one block West of my position there with my awesome genetically engineered spider sniper skills. (I mean, she's probably genetically engineered, purple skin like that can't be natural.) (1 move southwest, 2 move east, 4 move for hopping on top of the wall. 7 move total)

I then snipe enemy B since he's nice and in the open.

I also use two of my dirt blocks to create cover for myself by placing it diagonally west and down one block. Then I place a dirt block directly on top of that, and then another block on top of THAT. BAM. Cover.

Chloe waves hello to everyone, before, moving three spaces southwest, three spaces south, then another space southwest before attempting to peg Zombie 2 (or Enemy B) with a Ghast Tear fireball. That should be roughly a 60% chance to hit, unless I suck at understanding things.

weapon: irchuvichi (apply memory of glory to) becomes blade of dualty
5-6 base attack? (keeps the extra action thing, does not keep the deflecting thing. alternatively, I use 2 ircuvicis? irchuvicie? and apply memory to one of them.)
passives: dualty: when you deal damage of 2 logicaly opposed types (with no other attacks or heals (by you), can happen over multiple turns) (light/shadow, fire/cold.) your next attack deals increased damage. when you trigger this, you may sacrifice 1/2 your EP and HP, as well as halving EP regen for three turns, to increase your damage on this attack beyond normal.
elemental connection: when you use an attack with an element, you become able to use that element for attacking in the future (at will), same damage as normal attacks.
skill? (spells): elemental blast (light), elemental blast(shadow) and sentry turret
headgear: paper crown
armor: archmage robes
trinket: leftovers
Memory of glory
the only difference is the elemental blast amount and element.
I changed one of the spells to take into account what you said, if thats ok?
I move diagonaly north-west 4 and then 2 north, then 1 more north west

Round Two, INCOMING!

Widowmaker takes our first turn, jumping up ontop of the nearby wall. She shoots at Zomble B. 60% base, +20% range, *1.3 dex = 104% hit chance. It's a sure hit. She deals... 15 + 2 = 17 damage. Rolling for crit... fail. She also builds an amazing structure out of dirt.

Chloe then moves into the doorway and shoots a fireball at the same Zomble. Rolling for hit with 60% chance... My calculator says .638, so sorry. You were 3.8% off. Rolling for Scatter... x = -9.2, y = 5.72, and z = 9.759. The shot sails off the map, never to be heard from again.

Mei moves to the edge of the doorway.

Lawrence also moves to the doorway and charges up.

Joebob also also moves to the doorway. This is the problem with melee weapons, guys.

Orothec moves to stand ontop of part of the bridge. That seems dangerous.

Sukard opts to do nothing.

All player actions have been taken. It's now time for the mobs.

Zombles A and C make their dangerous trek down the side bridge.

Zomble B moves 6 spaces east towards you guys.

Skelebob D moves 2 blocks north and 2 blocks north to get atop the spire, and to break the lighting engine. From there, it peeks around the corner and shoots at Orothec. It's a 75% chance to hit, and I rolled a 53. So Orothec takes 11 damage (from your physical weakness and -AC).

Skelebob E moves 3 blocks south and ducks into cover. From there, it takes a shot at Joebob. It's another hit, this time for 6 damage.

With all you grouped up in the doorway, the Creep Beep sees the chance of a lifetime and shoots a sulfur blast at Chloe. It has a 25% hit chance, and I rolled a 66. So it misses. But I roll for scatter. X = .16 (lucky creeper), Y = -4.55, and Z = -0.33. It ends up hitting just above the doorway, meaning only Orothec is hurt for 9 fire damage. I also just realized the Creep Beep can't damage stone. Somewhat funnily, no blocks get damaged. The only things hit were stone, and it dealt 24 terrain damage, which isn't enough to give them a crack.

Robojustice silently judges everyone. In an effort to redeem itself, a new Zomble spawns.

Everyone's regen happens.

Edit - And while it does look like that log got hit by the blast, it really didn't. If I had used an actual sphere (the wiremesh is to help you guys see), it wouldn't have touched the log.
