The Operative pauses at Gladius's question, his eyes dimming a little in order to allow him to conserve energy, focusing on thinking instead of seeing. First off, the matter of what Gladius brought up... yes, some of her actions had caused him to be on the receiving end of some slight misfortune. While he couldn't remember anything aside from the apparent friendzoning, which he doesn't quite understand or see as a bad thing, or Goddamn Frooby, of which none of the event was Gladius's fault to begin with, the mention of some other things that he's forgotten about gives him pause. Nothing specific, although... why would he...

He thus turns his thoughts onto himself, confused at his own choice of actions. Yes, it was quite true that he'd gotten hurt quite a bit from the actions he'd taken involving Gladius, and that he'd invested a lot of his effort into helping her out. That last bit confused him the most. It contradicted his usual choice of actions, the ones where he would do only what was necessary to ensure allies remained allies. His mechanical parts click quietly as he internally ponders what might be going on, his eyes still dimmed in a fashion that resembles a computer screen on Power Saving mode. Then, he manages to reach a conclusion, his eyes brighten up again, and he tilts his head to look directly at Gladius. In the event that she's still looking down, one of his arms unwraps from around her, then he moves his hand up to her face, gently trying to coax her to look up into his eyes. Once eye contact has been established, he gives his reply.

"Having spent a bit of time thinking about it... yes. I believe I do like you."

beat

"In the romantic way."

Now it's his turn to blush, looking a little awkward with the current situation. Yep, very awkward. Quite the contrast from what he's like when cutting things with that katana of his.

"...D-do you like me in that way too? I mean, I can respect it if you don't, but... well... you know..."

While I'm thankful we're getting a new guy and all, here's something I want to just tell you man-to-man.

You have 7 INT including your equips, and none of your spells would benefit significantly from having 7 and not 6 INT. And since this is late-game, enemies deal quite a heavy amount of damage (about 8 per hit; that would kill you in two hits), so I'd recommend you take your INT down to 6 and funnel those skillpoints into HP, since the fight to be most likely to happen next is a boss fight against our own shopkeeper, which is not only hard but requires careful thought as to his "deals" to speed up the death process.

Just an opinion on the internet is all, and you don't really need to follow my word. Follow Tazz's, however, he's the smart one here.

Gotta have that extra INT for when I want to regen more MP. Besides, how would one know if it's late game? Not only that, but I'm WAAAY too lazy to look through everything and the game might be over before that.

But okay, I'll get rid of the 1 extra INT and pump the 3 points into health.

(It's pretty late-game. Really, there's 2 SOULs, a triangle, and a Chair-Mech remaining before end-game.)

(Well, I WAS kinda hoping this would be later. I don't like joining games at the very end. I even hoped for a character arc of my own.)

It's never too late to join, you know. Plus, there may be time for that... later?

<TURN ONE-HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-TWO>
Battlefury first moves to the Testing Chambers, and deconstructs them. This results in... a whopping 30 Iron, 100 Titanium, and 250 Wire Bits. That was surprisingly productive. Toast then confirms her okay-ness to Gladius, prompting a sigh of relief from her. Toast then... performs THREE crafting actions, the mad lad! Toast makes the Metalhead Crown (which she equips), by using the Chaos Drone Dome, 3 Wire Bits, 12 Titanium Bars, AND the Gravity Tiara! You then sneak into the Creature Testing Area, and nab the Slingshot, before modifying it to create a Ballista, expending 25 Iron, 15 Titanium, 26 Wooden Planks, a vial of Purple Solution, and some paint. Hell yeah. It's now pushable, deals more damage, and is generally more practical. Toast then robs the Operative's Katana while he's with Chloe, and then proceeds to mod it with 10 Durasteel, 25 Wire Bits, and 1 Titanite. The Stranger's Blade is slightly more powerful, but it can choose to deal either Electric or Elementless damage.

tc: ...what's taking the ribbon so long...?
tc: Why's the other-you so slow!?

Toast then swaps for the Finale Amulet. Whew. Chlorin then tells a story of the terrors of drinking, then equips the Titanium Revolver. He also does some Skillpointy stuff. Jon then switches Greater Blink for Healmore, and stuffs some toxic fungi directly into the Scattergun's bullets. This works, given that you've tried so much. Toxic Scatter obtained! Healerbot then opts to expend the Syringe Ubercannon, 15 Titanium, 3 Durasteel, 20 Iron, 1 Titanite, 1 Optical Device, 12 Wire Bits, 2 Dog Cream Canisters, 1 Green Sap Jar, 1 Green Sap Orb, 1 Green Solution, and 10 Glass Shards to make the Caduceus Metalstorm. It seems like you've gotten ANOTHER good damage boost, but another damage penalty. It also now instantly removes DoT status effects. It seems like even a slight upgrade now would push it to its limit for upgrading. Sunny then programs a circuit board with... what? Do you program it with the finest in vidjagaem technology? What do you program it with?

...Numbersoup then KEEPS murdering trees. You obtain another 80 Cinder Logs.

ut: Oh my god.
ut: What do you even need THIS much wood for!?
ut: I'll cut you down if you take even one more measly tree without answering.

Roxxanne then equips the Toxic Scanner, and converses with Xavier and Glitch Temmie, in that order.

ut: Oh, there's a variety of things you could give me.
ut: For example, I'm delving into human experimentation.
ut: Got any... volunteers?
ut: If for whatever reason you wish to deny the advancement of science, an interesting "toy" would do nicely. Something interesting.
ut: Now, for 4th Morality Core candidates...
ut: I don't know. A temmie? I honestly don't care. Just make it SOMETHING.

Then, Glitch Temmie.

"Oh, now that's an interesting prospect. I could extort Chaos in all sorts of ways if I was one. But you need information, so I'll give it to you.

Now, the Morality Cores are beings in the Mindscape which help modulate Chaos and stop him from breaking. They're all somewhat powerful memories, and the power of the core varies on the power of the memory; Gladius being one of Ire's friends and "creators", the Spider being a memory of both the Sleuth and Ire himself of his first visits to LOCAA, and Chairitomb being a general memory of chairs.

My effectiveness as a core would really depend on his connection to me; I wouldn't be a terrible candidate, as Chaos really did enjoy Undertale, even if he denies it. Of note is that these memories actually have minimal influence over his personality; only a few things dictate his personality, and they're not one of them.

Through observation, it has been inferred that Chaos will grow ever-closer to snapping as cores are lost, represented by the cracks in the ceiling of the Mindscape. We've also theorized that the "Mindscape Durability" is directly based on the quality of the cores; ever since Flumpty cemented himself as a core, the cracks have grown bigger.

Does that satisfy your lust for knowledge? If not, I'd be happy to answer more questions. Just be more specific.

Roxxanne then takes some time to meditate. Her MP is already full, though. Darkside then trades the Bloodstained Foil for the Nemesis! The blade crackles with energy as you trade it away, worrying the man. You then wait for the Crimera to fly by. It does, eventually. Lyra and Lykari then both move to the remains of the Outhouse, and jiggle the handle of the toilet. The toilet (and the floor it's on) lower into the depths below...

...you descend into a rather large open space, with a lonely table and chair. A "stasis pod" of sorts lies to the corner of the room, broken open, glass shards creating a minefield in the room. Blueprints carpet the table, and a dark passageway leads to the east. The pod reads "Experiment 15".

Ace then properly installs Possession as his special. Do note that I'll make your "battle status bar" once you enter a battle. The Operative then keeps talking with Gladius.

The moment you confess that you do, in fact, like her, she responds in kind.

ga: Of course I do!
ga: You've been there for me since we've met. I think it's natural.
ga: Besides, why else would I bring the question up, anyway...?

She scrunches you tightly, pulling you into a bear hug. She's beaming with happiness as she presses against you. That's when she loses control of her flames again, searing you slightly. She promptly lets go, and pushes you back a safe distance, instantly apologetic. Her flames die down as she talks, slightly panicked.

ga: Ah, sorry!

She takes a moment to breathe and think, before responding calmly.

ga: You know, I should do something for you- no, us!
ga: You wouldn't mind if I tried making you a trinket, would you?
ga: I'd like to have you resist my flames- really just flames in general. I could also try my best to add something to the trinket of your choice, if you'd like.
ga: You're probably preparing for a large fight; I should be able to get it done before then.
ga: Interested?
ga: Ah, don't be afraid to run off if you need to do anything suddenly, like a fight; I'll understand completely if you do.

She looks at you expectantly, beaming with a smile.

[small][small]cc: i ship i(t)[/small][/small]

Delta / Rotom joins the game! Welcome! There's the slight problem that you're trying to wear two hats at once though, when the Enchanted Hatstack is already two hats, and that there's no open battle to join. I'll assume that you're wearing the Enchanted Hatstack, though. You then decide to... attempt to romance somebody...?

[small][small](only one person is having a romance arc. i'm scared)[/small][/small]

Well. That's certainly an interesting first action. The only friendly NPC female at the moment would be Marron's puppet / sister, Ette. You proceed to greet her.

...she doesn't respond in words, but she simply waves to you. She seems nice. She then also somehow conveys to you the existence of an "anti-flirting" satellite, without using any words, and simply an array of hand-gestures and body language. BE CAREFUL.

Like Revan, I'll create your in-battle stat block once you join a battle.

<ZONE 6>
SOUL summons some sunglasses. Nothing interesting happens.

Well, by the loooks of things, everyone ELSE seems to be having a romance arc, so...
Delta approaches the nearest friendly girl who ISN'T in love with someone.
Uh.. Hi!
Delta seems to have a bit of shyness in his voice, as he doesn't remember talking to a girl before.

Teag goes and sits in the park, while reading some random books. His clone goes window shopping in the Tem Superstore.
Teag's clone asks Glitch Temmie about something he heard called the "Temmie Immortemmity Potion".

Sorry about the wait, Marron. I was just trying to see what it used to look like using some time magics. Other me didn't have that to do, and gorilla aint easy in the Mindscape. I'm done though, so I'll fix it up real quick.

I'll be calling Alt!Toast 'Alt' now, to make things easier.

Krus, Ah'stin, Eckai!

Alt (read: me) wastes no more time, and gets onto fixing up Marron's ribbon.

She grabs a handful of Silkweed and begins using the loom to spin it around a spool. She takes this thread, and places it in a sewing machine. Before taking it to the machine, Alt uses a pair of sewing scissors, or whatever special name they have, and carefully removes the irreparable parts of the ribbon, if there are any. Now, she takes the ribbon and runs it through the sewing machine, making sure to stay true to the original as she did so. There's not really much else to say about that process, but she basically uses the silk to restore it in the image of the original. Once she's done, she hands it to Marron.

Like it? I could enchant it too, if you give me a bit more time.

Meanwhile, Toast swaps for Rabbit's Foot, Counter and Prayer. She grabs the Broken Rocket Boosters and Blueprints from Zone 2, before returning to join the Bill fight, when Roxxanne starts shouting.

...Kthen.

Since the Crimera has passed by, I exit the tiny house, watching my backside in case the guy wants to do something funny.
Still watching my backside, I grow back to my regular size, and return to the Outer Wall.
I look up the Glitch Night Ghosts in the Bestiary, before checking out the small alcove.

Ok first of all Ire why the hell is Sight Switch a passive according to the character page.

Second of all why is Redstone still using Heaven's Gate he's dead.

Now, for the actual action.

Chlorin notices the Ballista, and takes 4 Iron Ingots. He melts them all into a cast, making a giant pyramid shape. 4 of them, to be exact. He then uses 10 Wood Planks to make 4 long rods, about as long as the part where you insert stuff into the Ballista. He then walks over to the Rundown House and attempts to harvest 3 Cinder Fruits. He then explains to Xavier:

I'm not going to kill any trees, ok?

He then attaches the arrowheads to the rods, and then sticks 1 Cinder Fruit onto each arrowhead.

NEW ITEM CRAFTED!

Explosive Ballista Arrows

Only usable by the Ballista. If it lands on an enemy, it deals (27-30) Damage to that enemy. Deal (7-9) Damage to anyone within Range 3 or 2, and inflict Burn For 2 turns.

Chlorin then heads into the Bill fight and uses Sight Switch to use the x2 Scope.

Effect: Grants +2 AC and +2 damage to all allies in range 3. Can be toggled, drains 1/3 of max SP per turn.
Mods: -10 SP per 2 SPC, +1 AC per 2 SPC and INT, +1 damage per 2 SPC and STR, drains 1/4 of max SP per turn at 6 SPC
Cost: ???

>Lyra: TAKE THE BLUEPRINTS NOW

"Sciencey Blueprints! Mine!"

Lyra grabs the blueprints off the table so fast, Chaos would probably need to frame-by-frame advance whatever security camera he kept in there just to see the movement. But then again, that's assuming it runs at 400+ FPS...

>Lykari: Inspect Stasis Pod closely.

"Oh...oh, this is going to be bad. That thing is probably down the hallway, and there is no way we're fighting it one-on-one...
I'd better try to throw some light down there, if only to get a shape of it..."

>Lykari: Make torches.

Borrowing some Burning paint and about 15 Wooden Planks, Lykari enacts the staple minecraft ritual of lighting some sticks on fire to make a torch. It's better then nothing.

>Lykari: Throw torches in hallway.

Not daring to move one step in the hall, you throw torches directly into it to make out if you can find anything. You also instinctively back up to the exit...just in case.

>Lyra: JUMP ON BILL FIGHT

"WOO, UNNECESSARY COMBAT!"

"OK, Xavier, this ought to perk your interest." Roxxanne says, holding out the Living Wood wand. She proceeds to take out a singular splinter from where Numbersoup was carving up trees. "This is a really weird weapon. It's not exactly usable on its own, but, using a simple sample of wood..."

Roxxanne proceeds to demonstrate a Splinter Storm on an unoccupied patch of land, expending the single splinter.

"...Ka-bwammy, colon three! A massive blast of wood and death!" Roxxanne exclaims. "Just, don't hold it near fire. You will burn much faster than usual. I presume your intellectual curiosity as to how it functions is piqued? I assume this will be sufficient payment?" Roxxanne asks.

With that said, whether or not Xavier accepts (which, by the way, as Roxxanne said means he'll be the Morality Core rather than Glitch Temmie-that's kind of what she meant), Roxxanne approaches Bill Cipher (instructing the Temmies and the X-Sabers to stay at the Rundown House until the shouting happens), alongside as many others as she can bring in, careful to stay within Range 4 of Bill (EXACTLY that range) after purchasing. She proceeds to dole out 5 gold for Prayer and Infusion on the spot, learns Prayer over Heal, and then...

"Say, Bill! You know that part in Roguelikes wherein the opportunity arises to kill the Shopkeeper for all of his stuff? Guess what? THIS THE PARRRTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!"

That is the part wherein several other players and several Temmies/X-Sabers rush in to engage Bill (starting at a safe distance.)

Guys, anyone who should be in the Bill battle should join right about now.

I head over to the Bill Shrine to join in on the fight.
I also upgrade the Tubas once more. I take a Green Sap Jar, Titanium Ingots, Glass Shards, Wire Bits, and a Vent Lid. First, I fashion a miniature alchemical setup out of the shards, and attach the vent to the top to allow liquids to be inputted. I pour the Green Sap Jar into it, allowing the essence of healing to be extracted. I then wrap the setup in titanium, bracing and protecting it. Afterward, I plug it into the tubas. This should hopefully allow me to play a healing song.

Mabuz, with the permission of others in the party, will turn the free Skillpoint Orb into an INT orb and equip it.

He then will craft to upgrade the Sap-Soaked Helm (LATER)

THE CRAFTING
Mabuz wanted to modify his Sap-Soaked Helm to fit his personal preferences. His freezing aura froze any of the sap it produced before it dribbled all over his head; something he appreciated. The materials he had access to were very limited, so he would have to make do with ones that had even trace amounts of magical potential: Cardboard and some of the Other Grave Fragments would be a good start. However, he would need a powerful core from which the hat could tap its power, and the inventory seemed to be lacking in magical orbs or metals at the moment that he would be able to use. However, thinking about the concept of magitech, an idea struck him. Using a Circuit Board and some wires in conjunction with the cardboard, he should be able to modify the computing system to accept magical energy from the Grave Fragments. The sap from the helm would serve as an effective binding agent for the entire apparatus and wouldn't damage the Circuit Board once it is hardened.

First he started by making some changes to the Circuit Board, warping the cardboard with magic so that it replaced certain electrical components of the circuit and warded them against physical damage since cardboard is rather flimsy. He then set the modified Circuit Board in place, gently setting it into the layer of sap on the back of the helmet. Using some ice magic, he froze the sap until it became a hard solid. Wire bits were then run out through the circuit board in the back and connected to each side of the helmet near the front. Carving pieces of the Other Grave Fragments into more attractive pieces, which would be used to hold two orbs from deconstructed Mana Circlets in intricately carved loops. The wires were hooked up to them using more cardboard to act as more makeshift magic absorption and conversion devices. With the way the Circuit Board was modified and hooked up to the helmet with the orbs from Mana Circlets, it ought to amplify his magic somewhat. Layers of hardened sap were covered by the typical liquid sap that dribbled down the sides slowly.

FINAL MATERIALS: x1 Sap-Soaked Helm, x1 Circuit Board, x20 Wire Bits, x2 Other Grave Fragments, x5 Cardboard, x2 Mana Circlets
Sap-Caked "Magitech" Helm: +1 INT, +6 MHP, 50% chance to ignore status effects, double HP regen effects,

Mabuz then equipped his new creation and entered the Bill fight, appearing to be grinning. Of course, that is probably just because of his skeletal head, but it was hard to tell. He held his Reaper's Scythe like a staff, which unnerved some of the other party members. Black tendrils covered the scythe's shaft while a glowing yellow eye planted itself where the blade met it. It glared at others balefully. It would appear we would be fighting you for the purposes of loot. Shame, too, you had a strong business running here; something I can admire.
