He shudders and whimpers in his several-day sleep, as though a perpetual nightmare. There is a way for him to overcome, but it will require the aid of those who possess hearts which rise to the aid of those who need it most. I beg of you, if you receive this letter, to come to the aid of my friend, caretaker and servant, The Eternal Author. I cannot promise reward, nor can I promise a safe journey. But all I can do is beg for your help, and pray that your generous souls may help in our dilemma. I cannot reveal my location, but if you were destined to receive it... trust your instinct. Venture forth, and find me.

One day, in the middle of the night, a letter arrives to you. It is unaddressed, you may perhaps think it has been sent to you in folly. And yet... each of you who receives this letter feels a higher calling. The letter calls you. And so, the above passage is revealed to you. And a quest bestowed upon you. Your journey may be difficult, maybe not. But one by one, you all trickle into a grand castle, stocked with more books than you have ever seen. Greeted by nobody, all inevitably end up at the top of the building, meeting a dragon once there, sleeping on a wooden desk. A passage is open to the right of the room, where a gentle sobbing is heard.

gC: Ah! You all came. I'm glad... yes. We haven't time to waste. If you received the letter from me... then please come with me. We must begin the process right away, else we may be too late.

The dragon, Genoa, leads you all into the side room. It is dark, as though someone sleeps here not to be disturbed. A blonde girl, with long hair, garbed in a blue dress, sits beside a bed, sobbing. In the bed, a mighty four-poster made of a sturdy black wood, draped in silk that seems to move without wind, lies a man, pale as snow, with hair deep and red as blood. He is still, breathing lightly. Occasionally, he shudders. There is obviously something dreadfully wrong with him. The dragon walks to the girl and whispers something to her, before returning to the office outside and grunting. When she returns, she bears a small metal obelisk, which she places in a stand opposite the crying girl.

gC: I understand that some of you may have questions, others more than that, however, I cannot answer them now. The situation at present is more dire than when I wrote that letter, and we must begin as quickly as possible. But, the task I ask you to complete... I need you to enter Author's mind, the man laid in the bed here, discover what ails him thus, and if possible, destroy it. We can talk more afterward, but... please. We need your help.

A light is lit at the top of the obelisk, which then forms a swirling gate before it. The dragon beckons each of you forth in turn, through the portal. She cannot tell you what's through the portal, whether it'll be safe or not. When you pass through, your vision fades for a flash of vibrant blue. The next thing you hear is a great thud.




You haven't got long to gather your bearings once you awaken. Instead, when you wake, you find yourself faced with a unit of soldiers, garbed in white and gold, their weapons turned against you. You hear them talking among themselves, before they notice you wake up. Before anyone can even think to do anything, they return to focusing on you. They shout something you don't understand, and light beats down from the sky, causing the gold on their armours to glow brightly. A certainly strange experience, before the (apparent) leader shouts in English towards you.

OVERSEER: Oi! You lot! We found you passed out 'ere, and we need yeh to answer some questions we've got for ye. Just the two; State your name and purpose being here! You tresspass on land controlled by Her Brilliant Highness! If you have no valid reason for being here, we will escort you to our local prison.

Two of his subordinates poke at the slower of you with their weapons. The other two sit idly as the captain tries figure out what to do with you, repeating things again and again about nonsense such as "Her Brilliance", the "Dark Crown" and "Possessed Manor". You see what may be said manor, a huge building a fair way into he distance. The soldiers then snap you back.

OVERSEER: Up! We need to interrogate you, for the good of the Theology of Solaris!

The six soldiers walk you towards a bridge... now might be a good time to walk over them. They turn to face you, weapons armed... as more fall from the sky into your hands. As well as other protective garments and ornaments. A triangle formation is made on the bridge by the enemy soldiers, facing you all down. They look hostile, or at least, impatient. The soldiers appear to have no patience for any nonsense that may be pulled off by this ragtag group.

But, as of now, I'm getting ahead of myself. We don't even know who you are, do we? Please, let us know.




RULES:

Please check the game document for a list of game rules. I recommend you read them thoroughly, though if you played Chaos then you probably know all the rules already. This journey may be significantly longer and more difficult than Chaos' mindscape... though, we will see at the end, won't we?

A boy covered in the garb of a wanderer awakes. Another nightmare? This one felt more real. It's still dark, and the full moon illuminates the desert around him. A shadowy form slowly orbits around him, nearly twice the boy's height in length, and deep maroon in colour. The spectre appears to be agitated, but the boy doesn't seem to notice it at all.

The boy sits up, and notices the letter, half-buried in the sand beside him. Still somewhat drowsy, he has difficulty opening said letter. The specter stops its orbit, instead looking over the boy's shoulder- is it out of curiosity, or out of contempt? Eventually, the boy opens the letter, and the contents are read.

Upon finishing, the boy pauses. He stands and tosses the letter into the ground behind him. It recieves no resistance from the atmosphere as it flies, embedding itself into the sand behind him.
"I guess I have somewhere to be, now, don't I," he says quietly to himself.

The sand around the letter starts to vibrate, and fall, creating a hole. The hole expands outwards, sand funnelling in, growing larger and larger. It reaches where the boy stands. He falls in.

For the second time in fifteen minutes, the boy finds himself jolted awake. Another place. Another time...? Perhaps not the latter. But certainly another place.

Modifiers: -5 SP cost per SPC; +1 damage per 2 SPC; At 5 SPC, you may also target up to (SPC/3) enemies that haven't attacked The Boy. This only applies Grudge, and doesn't deal damage; At 12 SPC, basic enemies that attack The Boy at all while a Grudge is active on any enemy are instantly killed once all instances of Grudge have finished.

[A 'Unique Enemy' is an enemy that hasn't attacked The Boy yet. Enemies that have attack The Boy are listed under 'Other Notes'.]

The Boy spawns wherever, moves to K14, stabs the Overseer, then retreats to M16.

The boy walks forward a bit, and then claps. He starts glitching in and out.

"HIT IT!"

Simeon was feeling down on his luck. The moment he came to the castle, he could feel that something was wrong. Now, he has to go through another mindscape. Oh well, he thought. Anything for a good friend.



Simeon sighs. For the umpteenth time, he is unarmed, encountering soldiers who seem way too eager to skewer people. Mentally making a face, he composed a cover story. "I am Simeon Infini, tourist, traveller, epicurean." There. Something that's for the most part true. When the items fall from the sky, he takes the stuff that looks the most like what he would wear in real life, and the scariest thing he could see. Staing on F15, he moves to G14, strikes the Overseer, and moves back to E15.

Someone looks rather out-of-place, even among the people who already look rather out-of-place. A... questionably-but-probably-a-guy(?) standing among the gathered ragtag group, clad in something that sort of has a possible uniform-like appearance but honestly is blatantly designed more for comfort. Without saying a word, he silently holds up a handgun of sorts, inspecting it for a few seconds...

"Not what I'm used to... but she'll do."

He then loads a bullet, heads to M14, takes a moment to line up a shot, and tries sniping Marker 1. Bang.

@A Mirrored Clock - I think your Special might be a little overpowered. Before I import you, I think it might be best for you to tone it down a little bit.
