If you're reading this thread, you've probably played DTG Mafia before at least once. The rules are relatively simple and the process streamlined. However, what if we could mix things up a bit? Put some spice into the game? Fseftr is doing so right now with Game #006, and this thread shall serve as a laboratory for new ideas for so-called "theme games", games based around a certain twist. Theme games should also have unique titles, instead of just "Game 0XX" or whatever.
Here are some things to keep in mind when proposing theme game ideas. 1. Balance. Would this game be balanced and not lopsided in one direction? Are any role ideas you have the right power level? 2. Playability. Would this game be playable to people without inside knowledge? 3. Fun. Would this game, put simply, be fun to play? Ideas will be reviewed by Fseftr, I hope, and MAYBE become games. Here are some of my ideas.
Split Mafia: Two one-member mafias, each receiving the Alpha or Omega role. These roles have the Godmodder's abilities, but Alpha is investigation-immune while Omega is roleblock-immune. There is no neutral in this game. Might need added town power roles. PTU Mafia: Players receive an assortment of custom, unique roles based on the main players' Pokémon in DTG: PTU. Alias Mafia: Players play under two aliases on an independent forum, the aliases will always be the same alignment but can easily have different roles. This way, previous games indicate nothing and players have to try and distance their aliases while managing them delicately. Alchemist's Mafia: Players start out with a set amount of grist that on Night 1, can be privately used to purchase around 1-3 alchemists (based on DTG2 ones) from the selection. Alchemies have various abilities, sometimes mimicking roles and sometimes doing other things. They are always one-use, and use your night action up. COMPLETELY STUPID OPINIONS: Split Mafia: Seems good. PTU Mafia: Probably going to be a bit confusing to the non-PTU players (like myself), but hey.
