*GASP!* That is a big plot twist! ...But seriously. I wonder who it would be. BTW Piono, you said you had 4 ideas of who the boss would be. Was the Handmaid one of them?
Nope. I completely forgot about her.
I feel stupid now.
I just wanted to see how the forum would crop the avatars. I totally missed that post. I'd like to have that IC pesterlog if you're on today. Just tell me what time. DTG is ridiculously popular.
Yeah sure. I'm on right now. Just check for armageddonsConductor whenever you get on.
Just in case, leave pseterchum up so I can message you for us to get it started in case you're doing something else when I get on.
Hey, Twin/Scratch, I have a few questions, and will probably get a faster answer here, so... About how much damage does one 40 post attack do? Is there anything stopping me from one-hitting a boss except it's health? Also, a question about something else entirely. If the players exist in Universe A and C, but are controlled by whoever is behind the Minecraft account in Universe B. What is the capital of Somalia?
A 40 charge attack's base damage outside of the mansion is 40K, inside the mansion... meh. It works differently here.
I don't think there is anything stopping you, Scratch will have to answer that.
And I'd tell you the last one, but then I'd have to kill you.
You know, that reminds me of a coffee mug I own. But, yeah, I want to have a Pesterchum talk, but I don't have Pesterchum!
google pesterchum.

Uhh....I'm pretty sure Twin designated ME to handle Intermission two.
Hint: We will be teleported to something similar to Minecraft, yet completely different.
You did not contact him afterwards. You only had an idea. TwinBuilder was approached by someone else who had an idea and ways to execute it. They talked, and he approved. However, if that person is not fit to handle that Intermission, I will contact you.

This is what I get for owning a five-year old Mac that makes it impossible to run Pesterchum. On another note, I suspect that the weather a little while from now will be partly cloudy, with a high chance of meteor showers. When is a little while from now? Soon. Perfect weather for DTG, exploration, and ressurecting random people.

I saw the conversation happen, so I'll tell you what Minor is talking about.
Minor was trying to do a Terraria sidequest. Eventually, he decided to do it for the intermission. Minor was never contacted, however, by Twin, so it probably isn't him.

THE PROPHECY SEEMED FAR AWAY
BUT FINALLY WE'VE REACHED THE DAY
GIVE UP THE PAST, EMBRACE THE STRANGE
EVERYTHING YOU CARE ABOUT WILL CHANGE
Twin/Scratch, you did not answer my second question
I think the answer is
It depends.
There is literally only one way you're going to one-shot a boss.
And that's if you get a crit with damage multipliers on your 40 post charge attack.
I did the math one time because I had nothing better to do.
The only items we have that gives damage multipliers instead of crits or minicrits so far is aegis's potion of manpower, which provides a x2.5 damage modifier for one attack, and Lil' Cal, who applies a x1.5 damage modifier to all attacks aimed at the afflicted entity.
If you apply the potion of manpower to a 40 post charge attack, it deals 200K damage instead of just 40K damage. This is enough to one-shot most entities. Not bosses, mega-entities or mega-summons though.
Mega-summons and mega-entities (the former being entities just so hugely overpowered that they are nearly impossible to kill like the UOSS or Project Nexus and the latter being entities like the godmodder which have health measured in ones and are nearly impossible to hit) have different things going for them. The first kind has the whole thing of having a player absolutely devoted to keeping it alive that will either weaken or negate incoming attacks. The second have their obnoxious abilities of just being able to dodge it unless you've somehow managed to nail it with a stun debuff, and even then they'll only take one or two damage anyways and you might as well not waste your multiplier.
What happens when you get a mini-crit on a x2.5 boosted 40 post charge? A mini-crit applies a x1.5 modifier. 200K multiplied by 1.5 is 300K. That isn't quite enough to take out the bosses that we are beginning to reach, but if we get any unusually weak bosses in the future, this would be a legitimate strategy.
On the other hand, a crit raises it up to 400K, 600K if you convince talist to use Cal on whoever you are trying to one-shot.
Hypothetically, you could use this tactic to one-shot Scratch, as he only has 375K, but I highly doubt he will let this pass.
At first I was thinking about abusing this mechanic loophole by making a potion that would apply a x2.5 damage multiplier as a debuff for an enemy, thus allowing me to use it in conjunction with the potion of manpower and deal 500K damage with any given 40 post charge without crits or minicrits. However, thinking about it, that would ruin the game.
Twin, my advice to fix this would be to change damage modifiers to being debuff territory instead of something a potion or the like can apply. To accommodate things like the potion of manpower, its easy enough to invent new types of crits.
I was thinking the ones we would feasibly end up using would be as follows:
x1.5: mini crit.
x2: crit
x2.5: super crit
x3: mega crit.
x4: giga crit
x5: omega crit
Anything beyond these would not be attained by the godmodder, even with the amount of power escalation present in our game.
Also, slightly selfish request, would anyone mind doing like... a picture of piono?
I need a better avatar than an image I got off of tvtropes.
I just have a few questions on things that are currently confusing me.
Such as charges.
How do charge trades work?
What is the benefit from trading charges?
Is it possible to have a charge modifier? (i.e. 2x charge modifier. 1 charge = 2).
Can you use an unfilled charge? (i.e. I had a 20/40 charge, but decided I only need the 20 I have?)
Also vice-versa can you expand a charge? (i.e. deciding that actually, I did want a 40 post charge? So making a 20/20 charge into a 20/40)
Can you combine charges? (i.e. 20/20 charge + 20/20 charge = 40/40 charge
Also, I'm confused about the Sacred Items.
Do people start out with any set amount?
Why is there a new tab for them below the group inventory?
How are they tracked, per player or group stock?
Are they physical items or just representations of a stat, such as health and charges?
Lastly, I'm confused about special attacks (such as battle techniques and combat operandi... plural?).
What defines a battle technique vs a combat operandi, in terms of it's effects not power?
Also, how do charges argument these special attacks in terms of power (Say a 20 charge battle technique vs an 10 charge combat operandi)?
I've assumed that combat operandi-plural are more powerful then battle techniques, am I wrong in this respect?
Can a special attack be helped by other players? (in terms of charges and the items need to perform it) (including a final operandi)
Is it possible to do a combination special attack? (i.e. 5/5 Battle Technique: Whirlwind X 7/7 Battle Technique: Tsunami = Combo Battle Technique: Tempest) (Also if possible, can a combat operandi be combined with a battle technique)
Can a special attack be performed by two or more players? (Team attack, where players combine strengths into one attack?) (i.e. Player A & B: 10/10 Combat Operandi: United we stand)
If the two above are possible, then can players combine different special attacks into one team attack (i.e. Player A: 5/5 Battle Technique: Special X Player B: 10/10 Combat Operandi: Attack = Combo (title for combat operandi + battle technique): Special Attack)
If not so directly, then can two separate special attacks work in tandem? (i.e. One player's special attack parries the enemy whilst the other player's special attack sneaks up behind and cuts it's head off?)
Well... it SEEMED like it was only a few questions...
I'm sorry if these have been answered before, but I couldn't find information on them...
I'm just really curious about the mechanics of these things.
How do charge trades work? Someone gives +1,+2,or +3 to either 3, 1 (and a +1 to someone else) or 1 person(s) respectively. Each person gets +3 in a trade most of the time, but sometimes you can just give +3 to someone with nothing in return.
What is the benefit from trading charges? Entities, attacks, and anything with charging is done faster.
Is it possible to have a charge modifier? (i.e. 2x charge modifier. 1 charge = 2). I wish.
Can you use an unfilled charge? (i.e. I had a 20/40 charge, but decided I only need the 20 I have?) I thinks so, as I've done it. All you have to do is transfer it to a 20 post charge.
Also vice-versa can you expand a charge? (i.e. deciding that actually, I did want a 40 post charge? So making a 20/20 charge into a 20/40) Yes.
Can you combine charges? (i.e. 20/20 charge + 20/20 charge = 40/40 charge I think so.
What defines a battle technique vs a combat operandi, in terms of it's effects not power? Combat Operandi are more powerful, and used more sparsley. Battle Techniques are just fancied up attacks.
Also, how do charges argument these special attacks in terms of power (Say a 20 charge battle technique vs an 10 charge combat operandi)? Obviously 20 > 10. But most of the time if it is 20 it'll be a Combat Operandi. In fact, most of the time, if it is charged at all it is a Combat Operandi.
I've assumed that combat operandi-plural are more powerful then battle techniques, am I wrong in this respect?
Can a special attack be helped by other players? (in terms of charges and the items need to perform it) (including a final operandi) Correct, By +3'ing yes.
Is it possible to do a combination special attack? (i.e. 5/5 Battle Technique: Whirlwind X 7/7 Battle Technique: Tsunami = Combo Battle Technique: Tempest) (Also if possible, can a combat operandi be combined with a battle technique) In theory.
Can a special attack be performed by two or more players? (Team attack, where players combine strengths into one attack?) (i.e. Player A & B: 10/10 Combat Operandi: United we stand) I think so.
If the two above are possible, then can players combine different special attacks into one team attack (i.e. Player A: 5/5 Battle Technique: Special X Player B: 10/10 Combat Operandi: Attack = Combo (title for combat operandi + battle technique): Special Attack) That's going a bit far. I would think not.
If not so directly, then can two separate special attacks work in tandem? (i.e. One player's special attack parries the enemy whilst the other player's special attack sneaks up behind and cuts it's head off?) I think so. I've done it.
I know not anything of sacred items, so I didn't answer the questions. (Sorry for the grammar there. I'm tired.)
Why is there a new tab for them below the group inventory?

There are 2 possibilities of what you mean. If you mean the Spoils of War, you get them if you landed the kill on a boss. If you mean weapons only some people have, those are alchemies. Check out this thread's OP for info on that.

Thank you, that clears up a lot (deciphering your answer for the first question was difficult tho! :P)
Although I'm not quite sure what is meant by Combat Operandi ... used more sparsely. Battle Techniques...
How so are Combat Operandi's more sparse then battle techniques? They both can use up items, although now that I think about it Sacred Items sounds rarer then money...
Regardless, what do you mean by sparse?
@ManiacMasteR
I mean neither.
Sacred Items are the Elf Tears / Hog Slop /Pie Fillings /Weasel Snot. They are used up *sometimes when a combat operandi is used.. *Not known if sacred items are always used up or only sometimes.
Unless those items are spoils of war? Although I am sure they are not.
I still have unanswered questions if anyone is skimming this to check that they haven't all been answered.

-snip-
Piono, when I said one-hit, I didn't mean with a single 40 post charge.
If you check, I have 5 stockpiled for a single combat operandi, and increasing.
I was planning on having nine by the fourth boss, but it's possible I could get more.
So that's, what, 360k+ damage if Twin/Scratch allows it.
Also, I think you did the math wrong.
2.5x multiplier for 40k damage would not be 200k. It would be 100k.

The main difference between Combat Operandi and Battle Techniques is that the former require these items, and as such are generally stronger. Sacred Items are relatively rare, being only obtainable as gifts, as rare drops in combat, or by making elves cry and such. Battle Techniques only require normal items, if any at all, and usually do not consume the item. The exception to this is money. However, as far as we can see, we have unlimited money.
