Also, for Lava, I have a name in mind, but I’ll save it for when someone suggests a form. Ooh, for the Immortality alchemy, make it a sculpture of an apple formed out of pure gold. Golden apples granting immortality is a recurring mythical theme, after all. I also have a name for the Twilight/Boundary alchemy being worked out.

Crystal forms a sickle out of the Ring of Infinite Emptiness, then summons the watch from the Watch of Flowing Time. He shoves one into the other, the sickle gaining a hilt-decoration of the watch. These projections can also be merged, as long as their elements won’t mutually annihilate. They’re essentially made out of whatever elemental energy they originally commanded, after all. He swipes the sickle down onto Death Metal, the Void power combining with the Time power to void out a large section of Death Metal’s future. He takes damage from this, for some reason.

A blaring trumpet heralds my magnificent return, having conquered the trials of "Life Getting in the Way". I withdraw an ornate mechanism from behind me. A panel of buttons stands before me. I press a button inscribed with a twenty-three-petaled flower, then another button inscribed with the Greek letter tau, then another labeled with a scythe and the electron configuration of a neutral iridium atom. I then grab the mechanism and lift it over my head. I throw the mechanism at the Creator. Immediately, the Creator is encased in a giant cuboid made of cubic zirconia, incapable of movement. A giant iridium scythe cleaves the cubic zirconia in twain before fluoroantimonic acid begins pouring from the sky onto the separated cubic zirconia.

OK...I really didn't want to consider this reasonable, at all, but somethign MUST be done, immediately. The game is updating too slow and we have no indication of when the End-update is, much less the NEXT update.

@CrypticCataclysm , I really hate to be the first to suggest this, and I could just be massively jumping the gun, but as it stands, the game is updating WAY too slowly. This game needs, AT LEAST, every-other-day updates on a mostly-consistent basis, and preferrably daily on a mostly-consistent basis. It also bears note, though GMing this game is hard, my workload over at DTG0 is usually over double of what you have (roughly calculated, it averages to approximately 53.5 posts per update, contrasting the 20-or-so in the last, unfinished update), and I can still update reliably and give estimates of when I CAN update every time I cannot update on a scheduled update day, and usually can include the EoTB in the update (and thus far have NOT given responses in the update for all but ONE). I don't mean to hoist you up to my standards, at all-GMing this game is hard, REALLY hard, and it's a time commitment that is massive, but at some point it has to be said that there are reasonable limits to when we should be able to get an Update, as well as what's in it. At this point, this is what I consider the reasonable reasonable limit; just a skeledop is painfully easy to do, just a copy-paste of last turn's EoTB and a multi-quote. The Response section is the bulk of the update, and the End-of-turn battle shouldn't be too hard given there are only so many entities, and all things considered the Creator and Destroyer aren't terribly complicated entities (and the most complex on the field at the same time), so not being able to do at least the Response section comes off as having literally no time at all for me-and though I've seen that in Jondanger, I ultimately believe that's a habit you've got to shake. And one you can't reasonably shake without investing more time than is possible for you to. Which leads to this.

Given your newfound work schedule hasn't given you much breathing space for updating in what I consider a reasonable capacity...Well, I would like, as soon as reasonable, one of two things. We'll call this the final warning. Either a polite report of when you can most reasonably expect the next update, or the End-of-turn-Battle in the update to make it complete, will quash this discussion cold for now. Either works; if you can't make the Endop by tomorrow, give us at least the other. People have historically held off of posting if the EoTB is not present in an Update for whatever reason, and responses aren't even in. An update schedule alongside either of these would be appreciated but unnecessary. The schedule post of when you CAN update is the absolute bare minimum I am asking of you here. We will, however, require SOME degree of concrete timeframe. 'Soon' doesn't work; 'Monday' will be good enough by my standards, but anything vague cannot.

If you can't get either going-by TOMORROW, perhaps Sunday if the mood is generous (going for the 'next update' post, it is a relatively fast post to make compared to the update), or if your new schedule is too long of a period (Every other day or so is a minimum, after that you're doing too much risk that the game will die)...I will start the process to get a new GM out and on the role immediately, as it will basically have proven that you cannot make the time commitment to GM, period, if you can't do either of those things. Time issues in this game are notorious on the GM end, and it really affects the updates. It's HIGHLY unlikely you can pull back enough time to get updates up more constantly (though possible), and Personally I value the game least of all of my 'important' stuff thus far. Homework and School and Jobs and stuff like that come first-if those are what's keeping you from updating you are hereby relinquished of the least important duty in your day. That being said, I might be horribly underestimating you and this is just a rough patch, but this long pause was the part where Jondanger ultimately had to throw in the towel, and we HAVE to keep the game rolling. If you don't respond AT ALL, replacement will be the only logical option.

Personally, I don't think it's a shameful idea to quit the GM position if you're having difficulties updating it on top of your real life-really, this game is hard to update, and we give a lot of praise for TwinBuilder (DTG2's GM) because he somehow managed it despite perhaps one of the most ridiculous workloads ever imagined, on top of artwork and insanely long hours, for freaking free. You're not leaving the GM helm abandoned either: Though I can't realistically (DTG0 is one thing, but DTG0 AND DTG:Terraria? That would be asking too much of me), I have discovered that Crystalcat could fill the roll. Crystalcat is a veteran DTG player (not veteran to Terraria, perhaps, but certainly Veteran to the series itself), has proven competence in the game, and has also shown a vested interest in GMing when I talked to him of the idea and has said that he has a lot of free time to spend.

I don't want to come off as rude, but rather urgent, and that does mean I have to pressure you a bit and make you question if you really can. I'm PLAUGED by these thoughts every day, though I'm relatively confident in my ability to manage the game. If you don't think you can, though, that is perfectly alright and no-one's gonna judge you for it. This game is hard to work with on the GM end, and if it just doesn't work, it doesn't work, end of the story. But whatever's gonna happen to keep the game afloat and keep it active has to happen SOON.

@GoldenReady You mean that all this time I had also obtained fire powers in addition to energy powers when I had obtained Navitas Nox?! gorilla.

@CrypticCataclysm Tazz is right. Update now or you will be replaced. At this rate, Half-Life 3 will update before I can get The Unreal (RIA Trident && HIKS M1000 && CM X1 Furie) out. It literally costs 400,000 dollars to fire it for 1.2 seconds, due to it firing three barrages of ultra-rapid fire exploding chemical bullets. That wasn't a typo. It is literally ten times as expensive to fire than Sasha, Heavy's default minigun.

Spoiler Alert: If I get the Almighty alchemy from Piono, I will charge-fuse it Crystalcat-style into The Unreal as an innocous double. It will take a 20 post charge. 25 (The Unreal) + 10 (Deus Omnipotens) + 20 (The Charge) = 50 (Upgraded The Unreal)

For those who didn't know: The RIA Trident, the HIKS M1000 and the CM X1 Furie are currently the three obtainable (which means the Rancor Sadeye doesn't count) championship-tier weapons (meaning they cost a gorillaing 3,000,000 alloy and 300,000,000 dollars to make) in SAS 4: Zombie Assault.

(Using orange now because it is Calan's colour and if I was to use Aayla's, it might be confused for Cyan's. Just for the GM to note, Aftershock is a Force alchemy, but has a small Earth component.)

Okay, here's my 2 cents worth of elements, Tazz style:

Black = Denied/obselete/not enough time or room
Gray = comments from others
Orange = suggestions

Defiance (in the form of shoulderplates)
Willpower (possible rename for hope, seperate from Defiance)
Murder/Slaughter (Jack the Ripper (no that was not his real name) style attacks, so the more gruesome the user, the more gruesome the death; in the form of a small, polished, extremely sharp knife/Meat Cleaver)

Ash (T1 or 2. No higher. In the form of a pouch)
Infernal (form of a bident)
Divine (these two may be present already in the form of other elements)
Battle (form of a horn)
Scissors/Sever
(In the form of scissors)
Illusion (Ludo Fallesis) (in the form of a hood)
Restoration (could take Heart/Perserverance's form)
Crafting (a core element of both Terraria and Minecraft, not to mention DTG)(in the form of a saw)

Mercy
Boss (for a lack of a better name)
Heart/Perserverance (in the form of a locket; could be described as Perserverance ('strength of heart'))

Faith (Again, could be Hope, but Faith is more like: trusting in something you aren't sure the existence of. Requires letting go of control and letting someone else take the reins. One of the few that would be strictly worse in RP battles and could be considered as similar to luck)
Wood (may have been mentioned by you or Tazz)
Clarity (in the form of a flask)

Reflection
Shroud (iffy on this one, may be too much like other elements)
Mirage
Pathway/Path (brick)
Comfort
Stress

Distraction/Diversion (Again, T2 or T1)
Transformation (T3 Minimum)
Class (in the form of cufflinks)

Fireworks (Ignis Ardor)(in the form of a cigarette lighter)

Other thing I was wondering, are there any staves besides Arcum Areus (PA Lightning) and what is Albiit (form)?

EDIT: Read your comments Tazz, I agree with most of them. Not sure what I meant by Shroud, it was about 10pm when I was typing this and can't remember. When I said heart, I meant something along the lines of 'strength of heart' so maybe a better term would be Perseverance, but then again, Willpower and Defiance would likely cover them.

It will take a 20 post charge. 25 (The Unreal) + 10 (Deus Omnipotens) + 20 (The Charge) = 50 (Upgraded The Unreal) (Yes, it is literally supposed to be the level of the Lord Michael's Hat.)

First off, well, in theory, though compared to Levis Ignis it'll be woefully inefficient.

OK, I'm gonna say this straight on your plans for a Level 50 Alchemy: considering I had NEVER intended the Hat to hit level 50 (I had never intended it break Level cap, in fact!) and it only did due to a lucky 2K post, I say that the only way to make Alchemies beyond level 25 (with such low charge, anyways) is to hit post benchmarks like that and TIME the charges to complete at that exact point, because quite frankly, my expectation for the hat was Level 15. Maybe cap level counting the 2K, but seriously, ultimately it was half of what I got. It's base level was double what I had expected of a charge of such (by Jon's remark) and then Jon threw on +20 Level for the lucky break. Let's remind ourselves: Piono's Level 10 Elemental Alchemies work because Level 10 is the level of the Infinity Minus One Sword. Those power levels are NOT even, either; Ratpure's power is echelons above any of his other weapons. To this DAY I still think that is far too much (not like I'm deliberately asking for nerfs here), considering the only other Level 50 alchemies IN THE HISTORY OF DTG were (a) Crafted by the Godmodder himself (and the Godmodder is overpowered on purpose, mind) or (b) made with a whooping 413 posts of charge built up over a long period of game alongside various powerful alchemies. 413. The only thing that came close to that required a ton of cap level alchemies and a single capped charge (the cap for charges was 50), and that was Level 35 (cap level was 10). In comparison, 30 posts of charge and a lucky 2K is far too little. I personally think it was only the convenient timing that got it that high to begin with. We push the OP scale a LOT in this game, but with the equivalent amount of level you've given and how much damage alchemies of that level get, that's just shoving it too much. The charge, relatively, is SOOOOOOOO low. ((Plus, all of that aside, you don't actually know if those come out to Level 25: the Level of an Alchemy is typically the GM's domain.))

Now, that's all up to the GM, mind. Whoever steps up to the roll (or if CrypticCataclysm manages to pull back) will have their own takes on this whole thing. However, your expectations for what makes Level 50 are ridiculously low IMO.

(Using orange now because it is Calan's colour and if I was to use Aayla's, it might be confused for Cyan's. Just for the GM to note, Aftershock is a Force alchemy, but has a small Earth component.)

Other thing I was wondering, are there any staves besides Arcum Areus (PA Lightning) and what is Albiit (form)?

I feel like everyone's jumping on the colored bandwagon, not realizing I did it in the first place explicitly to catch Cryptic's attention...something I doubt I'll need to do as much if the GM gets changed.

Piono's the jduge on this but I can throw in my 2 cents...

Slaughter: Knife was already taken...Or dagger, I forget which of those two. But a Cleaver hasn't.

Crafting: Should be a Saw, a Crafting Table, or a Furnace.

Battle: Conflicts with War. The Horn form for war might be good.

Heart: Unless you're referring to Homestuck (and that's unlikely, and even then it's already covered by Spirit), conflicts with Love.

Faith: Conflicts with Hope too much to stand out, I think.

Wood: Part of Nature.

Shroud: What does Shroud even do? That's extremely vague. You'll need to answer that.

Pre-existing Piono stuff: Arcum Aereum is not a Stave. That's a Wand. Vi Naturae is a Staff/Stave, however. Abiit is a Sickle.

...Jeez, suddenly we get to make our own elements and we're all abuzz like bees. Well, partially because Piono said he'd make us copies, if I recall...Which technically means I get ten right off of the gate.

@GoldenReady/insert: Hope isn't what funnels our powers though, its actually a mix of creation and reality, hence why our powers tend to have more control in universes that focus heavily on your own ideals (examples: the power drop when everyone got shoved into the TF2 universe in DTG2) I'm going to leave it at Twilight because the image that's supposed to be evoked by it is the Twilight from Twilight Princess and other Grey Magics that have a tendency to be overpowered in general. I'm not 100% sure about adding eldritch, but it might happen.
@Crystal: Noted.
@cryptic: Yeah, I have to agree with tazz.
@TFT: (hoo boy... another huge post and tons of time down the drain.)
Defiance is already here in the form of Determination, but shoulderplates added.
Willpower already here in the form of Determination.
Murder not added on grounds of being too similar to Rage and Hatred.
Ash added.
Infernal added.
Divine added.
Battle added.
Scissors added but item rejected (be creative man!)
Illusion added.
Restoration not added on grounds of being uncertain as to whether or not to add it and having too long a list already.
Crafting not added on above grounds.
Mercy, Heart, Wood, Clarity, Distraction and Fireworks added.
No arguing on whether or not to add any other elements, the list is too long and I really don't have the patience to make the list any longer, especially since there's no way I'm going to get through all of those.

Maybe Cryptic's forgotten instead of abandoning us - he hasn't been on in a while. Either way, I'll be able to GM if Cryptic can't - there may be some growing pains / minor problems as I work out the kinks, but hopefully I should be able to offer a fairly consistent update schedule. Or if not, at least provide advance notice and a post or two to keep people informed.

@CrypticCataclysm (if he even sees this), I'm sorry, but the updates are, like many others have said, few and far between. About as scarce as finding a new island on earth right now. Your new schedule has messed your GMing ability up significantly, but your work should come first (gotta keep those lights on, eh?). As it stands, even I could provide a half-decent update schedule, even though I wouldn't be very good at it at all, and would take longer than Tazz's minimum of every other day, so that's one thing to consider. Cryptic, that abrupt schedule change has slowed updating down to a crawl. And, I'm sorry to say (really sorry, in fact), you may very well halfta be replaced. Don't feel bad, though; it wasn't your fault at all. It's difficult to be consistent with the updates (which are of great magnitude as well) I would imagine, and are as strenuous as our resident GM of DTG0 would tell us (you gotta believe him; he's dealing with 50+ posts every update and is updating every other day or so), and schedules tend to block your path, and you need breaks, and other things that contribute. Ya tried, man, ya tried.

As for Crystal being the GM, I'd say that's very plausible. He's a veteran and should know the base things to know. Minor bumps in the road won't trouble anyone much, I believe.

As for elements, @pionoplayer , how about I give a few elements as well?

-Revenge/Vengeance (not sure if it would conflict with anything) (Cutlass (What!? I love cutlasses.))
-Cause (as in, the cause of something, or as in "fighting for a heroic cause", or something else) (Longsword)
-Dispersion (Bracelet)
-Foresight (Scope/Scanner)
-Weather (Barometer)

EDIT: Will repost whenever you begin re-accepting elements, if ever. And now, to fade into oblivion again...

Also, on Twilight, I was actually thinking of the EXCACT SAME THING. That's kinda why I'm drooling over that element (figuratively speaking).

Das all.

I'd be fine with crystal as GM. He looks qualified enough, I hear he has enough time to update frequently and this time I won't be self-nominating simply because I have a TON of work to do in the coming 4 weeks (then I'm on holidays for 7), so he has my vote.

Keep in mind this is all assuming CrypticCataclysm can't update frequently and we need a substitute. Hopefully it won't come to this, and we'll be able to expect updates as schedule allows, within reason.

Hrm, considering we're in a mostly-majority agreement on Crystal as GM (and the only other major candidate who isn't already GMing, TFT, just said that he really can't)...If we don't get an update by Midnight (I said I did want that Tomorrow; ultimately, I think waiting much longer is going to really start being annoying/hurting) of ANY variety as to CrypticCataclysm's update schedule...Well, we'll officiate Crystal as the GM, unless someone has any objections.

@Sirplop, trust me on this one, we NEED a steady GM for this kind of game. Honestly, the worst part of this is that we're doing it mid-event, and a themed event about the Necrodancer-SOMEONE's gonna have to step up and quickly give Crystal an idea of what the rest of the levels were like to complete the event properly, assuming he even bothers with that.

Now, granted, that seems like a good experimental idea, but all things considered we really shouldn't be experimenting with stuff mid-game.

I'm no official on the matter...OK, I actually technically am about as close as an official as I can POSSIBLY get on this matter. But, at this point, I believe CrypticCataclysm has become unable to properly update within reasonable parameters. Due to the group opinions on the matter (that basically everyone agrees CC cannot update, there needs to be an update, AND no-one has posed an alternative to Crystal), well, it's come to this. I'd say that if you have opposition to this that you should immediately say so, but I think everyone here of relevance has given their due, except CC himself (and if he was here I wouldn't be saying this right now). As such...

... @crystalcat , as officially as I can possibly make it, I hereby inaugurate you as DTG: Terraria's GM. Let's hope this works out smoothly for everyone. Your first update should come tomorrow night, assuming no-one has any last-minute objections to this. You should possibly spend some time reading over the other parts of this thread, earlier and later, to get grips on the balancing (and I wouldn't recommend huge changes at this point) and other such things.

I'll be introducing you to the GM PM on the MCF soon-ish, once you yourself get your bearings straight and officially take the role.

ERROR 201: NEW GAME MASTER LACKS THE ABILITY TO OPERATE AN UPDATE TERMINAL, DUE TO LACK OF FIRST GUARDIAN STATUS.

REMEDYING ERROR 201 NOW. CHOSEN SUN: RED.

Abruptly, Crystal’s inventory is less one Miniature Red Sun (carried over from DTG2) and he is surrounded by a flaring corona of red plasma as his body is torn apart and rebuilt, atom by atom, into a First Guardian. This process, apart from being the closest he’s ever come to dying, is also INCREDIBLY PAINFUL, and only Crystal’s transcendent status allows him to survive without becoming either insane or vegetative. He does this through simply dissociating from the pain and remembering it isn’t real. Admittedly, this doesn’t mean he isn’t screaming throughout. A lot. The red plasma dissipates as Tazz feels a shock even all the way in Aetheria - another First Guardian is near. Outwardly, not much has changed. Crystal looks the same, apart from being a little paler. The only thing that gives it away are his eyes, momentarily flaring like red supernovae before they fade back to two normal-looking orbs. “Hahahahahaha! You wanted me? I’m here! Wait, this red color could be really confusing. Let’s change it back.” Crystal ascends to a spaceship that has just warped in out of nowhere, the Thaumic Beyond. His home. He briefly abuses his control over the game to give himself a massive amount of alchemies, his Project, the Unconquered Panoply, completing itself, before I take over and lock him out. I’m the GM here, he’s just my proxy in the actual game. Through my interference, his new alchemies become unstable, only his power as a Game Master stabilizing them. If he loses this status, or uses them somewhere he doesn’t hold jurisdiction, they’ll vanish. In the meantime, he can have all the power he wants. It’s essentially flavor, he won’t get to use it. Leaning back in a chair, he puts on a pair of purple-tinted glasses, interfaces springing up around him. His new Update Terminal appears to be his Mageshades, magical computer-glasses he made back in DTG2. “Man, does every Game Master have an Update Terminal that’s a pair of glasses? Tazz, TwinBuilder (Or was his a regular computer, and his glasses were just regular glasses? Yeah, that sounds right.) and now me. Unoriginal, but convenient. Anyway, I think I’ll get started on updating this thing soon. What has my writer gotten himself into now?
