Everybody's been calling Undertale the new FNAF, so I figure that this idea is pretty much inevitable, but not only that, but I had an idea for a game.
Initially I was thinking about just making a horde of different animatronics, trying to add in all the characters, but, yeah, that wouldn't be a good game. So I decided to cut it down to 8, arranged by the night they're introduced in: Asgore, Toriel (Night 1) Papyrus (Night 2) Undyne (Night 3) Alphys (Night 4) Frisk/Chara, Flowey/Asriel (Night 5) Sans (Night 6) Gaster (easter egg animatronic) Gameplay is something I haven't completely decided upon. There would be some way to interact with the animatronics while they're out in the hallways, to influence their movement in one way or another. Doors + lights would also be in effect, as well as the cameras. My current ideas for each animatronic: Asgore/Toriel: fulfill the need to have basic animatronics, sort of the Bonnie/Chica of this game. Neither of them are terribly complex or gimmicky, except for that fact that both of them have to pass through the "Home" room to get to where you are, and neither will enter a room the other is in. This means that if one is in the flower room, the other won't pass through it. (this means that they won't progress if the other's in the way... but also that they'll restart their attack pattern closer to home if they reset while the other's in the flower room. The guard room also counts as one of these rooms, so neither will come up to your door while the other is waiting on the other side) Papyrus: Not completely certain, probably a freddy analogue in that he's got a fairly basic attack pattern, potentially just attacks from both sides. Undyne: Would act sort of like this game's Foxy, she'd charge at you periodically throughout the night, and perhaps have some sort of extra entrance or something, similar to Blank from FNAC (Been watching a LOT of let's plays, as I currently have very little to do at home) Alphys: Would attack using distractions (mini-Mettatons most likely) from multiple different angles. Frisk/Chara and Asriel/Flowey: These two introduce difficulties based around interactions with other animatronics. Both of them have two forms that they switch between semi-randomly, each one with a different pattern and different effect on the other animatronics. Frisk and Asriel won't jumpscare the player, while Chara and Flowey both will. Frisk moves around, semi-distracting monsters, but Frisk winds up attracting a bit of a following, and because of the way it affects other monster's patterns, it can result in everything trying to attack you at close to the same time. Chara on the other hand is hyper-aggressive, either chasing off other animatronics, or 'killing' them. When 'killed', they remain inactive for a certain amount of time. Exceptions: Sans and Undyne. If Chara encounters Undyne, Undyne will go into Undying mode and become even more aggressive and with more abilities. Chara running into Undyne the Undying will kill Undyne, and Undyne will be back to normal upon rebooting. If Chara runs into Sans, Chara gets 'killed' and shut down for a while. Asriel acts as a support animatronic, just like Frisk, but instead of grouping the monsters together outside, Asriel will sneak into the control room and mess with your defenses similar to BB or the hallucinations. Flowey on the other hand, chases other monsters around. Flowey will never be in the same room as any other animatronic but Sans or Frisk/Chara, and every time he moves into an occupied room, all other animatronics within will move towards the player's room. Flowey chasing out monsters also increases their aggression temporarily, meaning that not only do they move towards the player, but they attack very aggressively for a duration of time. Flowey and Chara would both have unique ways of attacking the player (in addition to the usual just coming in through the door) although I haven't yet decided upon what. On top of all that, the two animatronics affect each other in different ways depending on what form the two are in. If Frisk and Asriel encounter each other, they'll stop in the room for an extended period of time, giving you a breather... but also attracting most of the monsters to unleash in a flood once the two separate. If Frisk and Flowey encounter each other Flowey chases Frsik out of the room after a short period of time, at which point the nearest animatronic besides Flowey will move to Frisk's room and gain Flowey aggression. Chara and Asriel meeting in the same room attracts Toriel and Asgore (the only time the two will be in the same room) and sets off an attack from all four animatronics after a little while. Chara and Flowey meeting in the same room results in Chara killing Flowey, and all of the animatronics stopping and rebooting (oftentimes rebooting involves heading back to their spawn room) Sans: gonna have a bad time. Sans meanders about aimlessly when Papyrus is nearby, your best bet for surviving is keeping the two together. when Papyrus isn't nearby, Sans goes into "bad time mode" and begins attacking more aggressively than any other animatronic (including enraged Undying Undyne) staying near the room near-constantly, and sometimes attacking from multiple angles at once. He isn't limited by room connections thanks to teleporting, and uses the gaster blasters to attack from multiple places at once. (make a note: this is Sans on near to the highest difficulty as it's night 6. At lower difficulties on the custom night he still uses his dirty tricks, but isn't as aggressive. 8/20 mode will REALLY suck though) Gaster: bonus animatronic sort of like shadow bonnie or golden freddy in the first FNAF. You do something that wakes him up, and if you don't defuse him in time, you get auto-pwned. This seems a little overkill, especially once you hit night 5, but remember, the biggest gimmick of this game is the ability to mess with the animatronics movement patterns. I also typed up the first night's phone conversation: “Howdy!” “Bet your wondering what’s going on with this creepy place huh?” “Flowey’s? Weird name for a restaurant, right?” “Never seen it open, either, right?” “I should hope not. This isn’t exactly your usual food venue.” “You see, this is a playground of sorts.” “Oh, who am I?” “Why, the owner of course!” “I’m Flowey, Flowey the flower.” “Your best friend.” “Now, I know this place looks pretty creepy, but don’t worry,” “I T G E T S M U C H W O R S E.” “Have fun!” Additionally, each night has an alternate message that starts when you mute the first before it finishes the first couple of seconds. Night one's is: “hey there.” “thanks for muting the weed.” “he didn’t used to do the phone call, he’d just sort of throw people into the deep end.” “then i started leaving these messages lying around.” “the phone call’s just to keep the recording machine occupied.” “for some stupid reason it’ll only play one message a night.” “heh, not any dumber than the design of the rest of this place.” “anyways, I haven’t got much time left, i’ve been rambling for too long.” “there’s a story to how you ended up here, how i ended up here.” “really, there’s a story to every person in this building.” “but i haven’t got time for that tonight.” “jeez… this is so nerve wracking, i wish i could just take a nap…” “anyways, you’ve got two monsters coming after you tonight.” “asgore and toriel. king and queen.” “each will come to a different door, but they follow the same… pattern let’s say.” “they both have to pass through the ‘Home’ room to get here, but they won’t be in it at the same time.” “not exactly sure why. use it to your advantage.” “also, watch your battery life. the weed’s got this place rigged up weird.” “the doors’ll open and he’ll come kill you if you run out.” “don’t let the other two in, or they’ll kill you.” “wait, how much time do i have lef- oh go-” *electronic gaster beeping and the recording cuts out* Originally posted on 2016-02-24 16:04:00 -------------------- Once upon a time there was a story...

Just saying, but when people call Undertale the new FNAF, that's not a compliment.
Also, the opposite of your idea was already tried, and it wasn't exactly well recieved: http://www.designntrend.com/articles/64539...reats-drama.htm Originally posted on 2016-02-24 16:38:00 |
